Temporary work that utilizes temporary equipment (e.g., system scaffold and system pipe support) in construction work is one of the most vulnerable work from a safety perspective in South Korea. Typically, temporary equipment is reused at construction sites. The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency announced guidelines regarding the performance standards for reusable temporary equipment to prevent the accidental collapse of temporary facilities. Nevertheless, temporary facilities' collapse still occurs, which could be attributed to a degradation in the performance due to the reuse of temporary equipment. Therefore, this study investigated the performance of simple temporary structures assembled with new and reused equipment. To this end, an experimental module was designed based on previous research cases, and two experimental models were constructed, in which one was assembled using new equipment (Model A), and the other was built using reused equipment (Model B). To determine the performance of each model, a load test was conducted to measure the maximum load that each model could withstand. The experimental results revealed that the maximum load of Model B was 15% lower than that of Model A. This indicates that there is a meaningful performance difference between those two models. Based on this result, the authors decided to perform additional tests with more realistic models than previous ones. The new experimental module was designed to ensure compliance with the Korean design guidelines. In this presentation, the authors show details of the first tests and their results and plan for the additional test.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to extract GOMS manual operator, except for an experiment with participants. Background: The GOMS model has advantage of rapid modeling which is suitable for the environment of technology development which has a short life cycle products with a fast pace. The GOMS model was originally designed for desktop environment so that it is not adequate for implementing into the latest HCI environment such as small touch screen device. Therefore, this research proposed GOMS manual operator extraction methodology which is excluded experimental method. And flick Gesture was selected to explain application of proposed methodology to extract new operator. Method: Divide into start to final step of hand gesture needed to extract as an operator through gesture task analysis. Then apply the original GOMS operator to each similar step of gesture and modify the operator for implementation stage based on existing Fitts' law research. Steps that are required to move are modified based on the Fitts' law developed in touch screen device. Finally, new operator can be derived from using these stages and a validation experiment, performed to verify the validity of new operator and methodology by comparing human performance. Results: The average movement times of the participants' performance and the operator which is extracted in case study are not different significantly. Also the average of movement times of each type of view study is not different significantly. Conclusion: In conclusion, the result of the proposed methodology for extracting new operator is similar to the result of the experiment with their participants. Furthermore the GOMS model included the operator by the proposed methodology in this research could be applied successfully to predict the user's performance. Application: Using this methodology could be applied to develop new finger gesture in the touch screen. Also this proposed methodology could be applied to evaluate the usability of certain system rapidly including the new finger gesture performance.
Recently many companies build interfirms cooperation based on their trust. These typology of partnerships play important roles for good results especially for joint product development. Therefore the purpose of this article is to investigate the role of interfirms communication in B2B market. We also investigate interfirms communication affecting the result of new product performance through two relationship factors(trust, conflict) in B2B market. Data were gathered from respondents who work in industrial buying center. Major findings of this study are summarized as follows: First, communication has positive effects on trust but negative effects on conflict. Second, trust is shown to have positive effects on cooperation and new product performance. However, conflict is shown to have negative effects on cooperation and new product performance. As a result, interfirms communication derives new product performance. In conclusion, this study means that we tried to investigate the human relationship in B2B market.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine if simulation training affects new graduate critical care nurses' knowledge, self-efficacy, and performance ability in emergency situations. Methods: Forty new graduate critical care nurses were randomly assigned to either an experimental or a control group. The experimental group had didactic with simulation. The control group received only didactic without simulation about emergency situations. The data were collected before and after the training interventions. An independent t-test used for difference among variables. Results: There were no significant demographic differences between the two groups or any differences on data collected knowledge, self-efficacy and performance ability. Following the training, there were significant performance ability scores (p<.001) among the nurses receiving didactic with simulation. There were no significant difference between the two groups relative to knowledge scores (p=.117), or the self-efficacy scores (p=.100). Conclusion: This study showed that simulation training for new graduate critical care nurses is useful to improve performance ability on emergency situations. Hence, providing simulation training to critical care nurses during an orientation period would improve quality of critical care nursing and help the new graduates nurse's adaptation.

For competitive hotel business, the hotel must have a sound prediction capability to balance the demand and supply of hospitality products. To have a sound prediction capability in the hotel, it should be prepared to be equipped with a new technology such as quantum computing. The quantum computing is a brand new cutting-edge technology. It will change hotel business and even the whole world too. Therefore, we study the impact of quantum computing on supply chain management (SCM) and hotel performance. Toward the goal we have developed the research model including six constructs: quantum (computing) prediction, communication, supplier relationship, service quality, non-financial performance, and financial performance. The result of the study shows a significant influence of quantum (computing) prediction on hotel performance through the mediating role of SCM in the hotel. Quantum prediction is highly significant in enhancing the SCM in the hotel. However, the direct effect between the quantum prediction and hotel performance is not significant. The finding indicates that hotels which would install the quantum computing technology and utilize the quantum prediction could hugely benefit from the performance improvement.

The purpose of this study was to identify the antecedents of organizational innovativeness, which in turn influence firm performance that is composed of new product development performance and overall firm performance. We collected responses from C-level executives, and conducted a structural equation model analysis. Results revealed that organizational memory and market orientation influence organizational innovativeness, which in turn influence new product development performance and overall firm performance. However, interestingly, new product development performance was not found to affect overall firm performance. Based on these results, we have confirmed the importance of market orientation and organizational memory for organizational innovativeness. Practical implications related to the results are provided.
"Performance-based design (PBD)" is based on designing a structure with choosing a performance target under design criteria to increase the structure's resistance against earthquake effect. The plastic hinge formation is determined as one of the fundamental data in finite elements nonlinear analysis to distinguish the condition of the structure where more significant potential damage could occur. If the number of plastic hinges in the structure is increased, the total horizontal load capability of the structure is increased, also. Theoretically, when the number of plastic hinges of the plane frame structure reaches "the degree of hyperstaticity plus one", the structure will reach the capability of the largest ultimate horizontal load. As the number of plastic hinges to be formed in the structure increases towards the theoretical plastic hinge number (TPHN), the total horizontal load capability of the structure increases, proportionally. In the previous studies of the authors, the features of examining the new performance criteria were revealed and it was formulated as follows "Increase the total number of plastic hinges to be formed in the structure to the number of theoretical plastic hinges as much as possible and keep the structure below its targeted performance with related codes". With this new performance criterion, it has been shown that the total lateral load capability of the building is higher than the total lateral load capability obtained with the traditional PBD method by the FEMA 440 and FEMA 356 design guides. In this study, PBD analysis results of structures with frame carrier systems are presented in the light of the Turkey Building Earthquake Code 2019. As a result of this study, it has been shown that the load capability of the structure in the examples of structures with frame carrier system increases by using this new performance criterion presented, compared to the results of the examination with the traditional PBD method in TBEC 2019.
In this paper, we establish a new robust $H_{\infty}$ performance condition for uncertain discrete-time systems with convex polytopic uncertainties. We express the condition as a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which are used to check stability and $H_{\infty}$ disturbance attenuation level by a parameter-dependent Lyapunov matrix. We show that the new condition provides less conservative result than the existing ones which use single Lyapunov matrix. We also show that the robust $H_{\infty}$ state feedback design problem for such uncertain discrete-time systems can be easily dealt with using the approach. The key point in this paper is to propose a kind of decoupling between the Lyapunov matrix and the system matrices in the parameter-dependent matrix inequality by introducing one new matrix variable.
This study investigates how cognitive and affective conflict affect performance and social outcomes in the new product situation. We examine the corporate, project, and personal characteristics that determine the level of inter-functional conflict between marketing and R&D. From a survey of Korean high-tech companies, we found : (1) time pressure was positively related to cognitive and affective conflict, (2) joint reward systems, interdepartmental connectedness, and years of education were negatively associated to cognitive conflict, (3) while cognitive conflict was positively related to new product creativity and NPD performance, affective conflict was negatively associated to marketing-R&D integration and perceived effectiveness of the relationship, as well as new product creativity and NPD performance.

This paper describes the design and implementation of a new diode clamped multilevel inverter for variable frequency drive. The diode clamp multilevel inverter has been widely used for low power, high voltage applications due to its superior performance. However, it has some limitations such as increased number of switching devices and complex PWM control. In this paper, a new topology is proposed. New topology requires only (N-1) switching devices and (N-3) clamping diodes compared to existing topology. A modified APO-PWM control method is used to generate gate pulses for inverter. The proposed inverter topology is coupled with single phase induction motor and its performance is tested by MATLAB simulation. Finally, a prototype model has built and its performance is tested with single phase variable frequency drive.
