The marine equipment industry in Korea has been growing along with shipbuilding industry since early 1980s. Major shipbuilding might be predicted to shift to China in the near future. Moreover, new paradigm of e-navigation is about to get geared in the real world, which was specifically noted by IMO (International Maritime Organization). In order to catch up with rapid changes in the environments, the industry sector should move fast, the public sector should setup proper measures, and the academic sector should spur the research and development of new technologies. In this paper, international marin equipment markets and standardization trends are presented along with several representative R&D activities.

The purpose of this study was to explore new fisheries-related jobs in the future. The study is based on a thorough literature review and in-depth interviews with experts in the fisheries industry. The major findings of the study were as follows: First, new fisheries-related jobs that surpass the fitness rating of 90% and earn more than 3 on the prospect scale are expected to be found mostly in professional fishery sectors. In the production and processing sectors, fishery quality control manager, marine product cooks, and raw fish cooks looked most promising. In the fishery marketing and distribution section, on the other hand, marine tour consultants, marine product distribution consultants, underwater guides, online marine product traders, marine sports consultants, and marine safety specialists ranked high on the list.

New type of seasoned and dried oyster slice (SDOS) was prepared with surimi and oyster, and then characterized on the food components. With a higher oyster content ratio, the moisture (18.1% to 21.7%), water activity (0.621 to 0.661), and $\Delta$E value (74.83 to 75.90) of SDOS slightly increased. Regardless of differences in oyster content ratios, there was, however, no difference in the sensory color and flavor expect for sensory texture of SDOS. The desirable ratio of oyster content for preparing the seasoned and dried oyster slice was determined as 30% according to the results above. There was no difference in total amino acid content between seasoned and dried slices with and without oyster. The major amino acids of SDOS were glutamic acid, leucine, lysine and threonine. The calcium and phosphorus contents of SDOS were 64.4 mg/100 g and 315.9 mg/100 g, respectively. The total free amino acid content and taste value of SDOS were 1,576.8 mg/100 g and 226.05, respectively. The results suggested that SDOS could be used as jerky-like oyster products.

The purpose of this study is to show a course development of the marine leisure sport policy in Korea. The preceding researches and the analysis on the actual conditions on marine leisure sport in Korea were conducted for this research. And analyzing the obstacle and development factors in marine leisure sport, the conclusions intended to provide the preliminary data on the marine leisure industry are as follows: First, as policy-based problems, there will be needs for the public perception improvement in the marine culture caused by the lack of publicity, the reflection reinforcement of the national policy on the marine leisure industry, the prevention of the overlapping investment for the national resources development in the marine industry and marine leisure sport complexes, and the reinforcement of the close networks with the developed countries. Second, as human-based problems, there will be needs for the new organization of the specialty agencies involved in the marine leisure industry field, the nurture of the capable specialists and the reinforcement and nurture of TF team for the infrastructure industry. Third, as facility-based problems, there appeared to be the expansion of the SOC related to the marine leisure, the ease of the laws and regulations for the development of the marine leisure facilities, the prevention of the thoughtless development caused by close cooperation system with the local government. Fourth, as law and institution-based problems, there appeared to be the abolishment of the regulation-centered laws involved in them, the prevention of the legal and institutional confusion caused by policy confusion. Fifth, as industry-based problems, there must be the expansion of the domestic supply and demand, the reinforcement of parts industry and the nurture of the license system for the mechanics on the vessels and the engines.

This paper treats the development of a new type of deep draught semisubmersible offshore structural shape that has excellent heave motion response and less down-time. This new type of semisubmersible shape is characterized by heave dampers at each pontoon corner and appropriate column size adjustment to achieve the desired cancellation and resonance motion period. It was found that the final model had efficient workability, based on the wavescatter diagrams for the GoM and North Atlantic ocean, due to less heave motion, although the specific heave response at the 100 year return period wave condition in the North Atlantic was more or less increased.

The aims of this study are to access the status and problems and draft possible solutions of Korean trawl fishery in New Zealand sea. The main target fish species for Korean trawlers in this sea were barracouta, blue mackerel, hake, hoki, jack mackerel, ling, oreo, orange roughy, southern blue whiting, spiny dogfish, squid and silver warehou. The Korean trawl fishery are suffering from a supply of seaman, continuous increasing coast of the counter partner, repair of vessel and seaman supply. It may be useful for getting over these difficulties to build a new trawler with a automatic operation system.

In the UK's the insurance law 2015, a remedy for breach of warranty in marine insurance was introduced. Also, if the insured proves that breach of warranty in marine insurance does not affect damages, the insurer pays the insurance money to the insured. The UK's marine insurance law has served as the governing law that has been the standard for the marine insurance industry for a long time. Korea and China were heavily influenced by the UK maritime insurance law. Therefore, this study analyzed the cases of breach of warranty in marine insurance in Korea and China. Through this, the insurer avoid the insurance contract for an accident that occurred after the breach of warranty. this result will be different under the new revised insurance law system. With the revision to The Insurance Act 2015, one of the biggest change in the insurance system is that it is possible to remedy of the violations of warranty. However, such a revision of the law requires considerable attention as it also changes the interpretation and judgment of the courts. Accordingly, a practical response of the insurance industry is required. It is necessary to prepare for possible disputes in practice.

Since the last decade, the fisheries industry in Korea has faced many difficulties in terms of comparative economic advantage partly because of marine environmental damage caused by Pollution and coastal reclamation, and partly because of too expensive production factors like labor. In addition, new order of world trade created by Uruguay Round will force the Korean fisheries industry to prepare some remedies including a joint-venture business with China for international compatativeness. As a result, this paper mainly deals with an analysis on feasibility of Sino-Korean joint cooperation in fisheries business. Especially, the Shandong Province in China is expected to take advantage of its geographical proximity to Koreas well as of its abundance in marine natural resources in order to achieve a fast economic growth. Thus, for the next decade to come, it would be very important for the Korean fisheries industry to cope with the international fisheries market by the Sino-Korean joint-venture combining the capital and technology from Korea with the cheap labor and favorable marine environment for aquaculture from China.

Though polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon compounds (PAHs) in marine sediment has been produced by many colleges and institution in Korea, it is difficult to compare PAHs data in a study area with those in other areas due to the lack of confidence for the quality of data from the other organization. Therefore, we suggested the protocol for PAHs analysis in marine sediment through examining the method of PAHs analysis described in over twenty scientific papers and reports. When a known amount of 23 PAHs were spiked into a sediment and anlyzed following this new protocol, very good recoveries were obtained. In addition, for college and institution with their own method to analyze PAHs can keep producing PAHs data without exchanging to this new PAHs protocol, the method to get a full confidence through the QA/QC for the PAHs data produced by these organization is included to the protocol.
