The direction of evolution can estimate based on the variation among nonsynonymous to synonymous substitution. The simulative study investigated the nucleotide sequence of closely related strains of respiratory syndrome viruses, codon-by-codon with maximum likelihood analysis, z selection, and the divergence time. The simulated results, dN/dS > 1 signify that an entire substitution model tends towards the hypothesis's positive evolution. The effect of transition/transversion proportion, Z-test of selection, and the evolution associated with these respiratory syndromes, are also analyzed. Z-test of selection for neutral and positive evolution indicates lower to positive values of dN-dS (0.012, 0.019) due to multiple substitutions in a short span. Modified Nei-Gojobori (P) statistical technique results also favor multiple substitutions with the transition/transversion rate from 1 to 7. The divergence time analysis also supports the result of dN/dS and imparts substantiating proof of evolution. Results conclude that a positive evolution model, higher dN-dS, and transition/transversion ratio significantly analyzes the evolution trend of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus, and Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus.
We develop a novel technique that can constrain the evolutionary track of the epoch of reionization (EoR) by applying the convolutional neural network (CNN) to the 21-cm differential brightness temperature. We use 21cmFAST, a fast semi-numerical cosmological 21-cm signal simulator, to produce mock 21-cm map between z=6-13. We design a CNN architecture that predicts the volume-averaged neutral hydrogen fraction from the given 21-cm map. The estimated neutral fraction has a good agreement with its truth value even after smoothing the 21-cm map with somewhat realistic choices of beam size and the frequency bandwidth of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA). Our technique could be further utilized to denoise the 21-cm map or constrain the properties of the radiation sources.

The physical effects of H-plasma treatment on ZnO thin film have been studied using photoluminescence(PL) spectroscopy. Four characteristic peaks have been identified: (i) $D^0X$ peak (neutral donor-bound exciton), showing relatively small integrated intensity after H-plasma treatment, indicates that H-plasma passivates the neutral donors in ZnO at low temperatures. The rapid decrease in the integrated intensity of the peak as the temperature goes up is considered to be due to the ionization of neutral donors. (ii) H-related complex-bound exciton peak appears at the low temperatures (10 K~80 K) after H-plasma treatment, showing the same thermal evolution as $D^0X$ peak. (iii) FX (free exciton) peak starts to show up at 60 K and grows more and more as the temperature goes up, which is considered to be related to the increase in free electron concentration in the film. (iv) violet band is intensified after H-plasma, which means more defects and impurities are generated by H-plasma process.

This study discusses that the US zoning system came from "progressive movement" in the early 20th century. The US progressive movement was closely related with the scientific management movement in terms of efficiency. In that context, the ontological significance of zoning is found in realizing public interests by blocking external effects based on the value-neutral expertise. Another aspect of the US zoning system is the political one. It is closely related to progressive movement in common with efficiency. The zoning system was introduced as a measure to prevent the racial and class mixture resulting from the influx of immigrants. Today, the racial aspect of zoning is succeeded to exclusionary zoning. This study examines the fact that exclusive interests of US mainstream society have served as more important background than the fundamental aspect preventing external effects in the introduction and evolution of the zoning system.
High-velocity clouds are flows of neutral hydrogen, located at high galactic latitudes, with large velocities ($[VLSR]{\ge} 100 km/s$) that do not match a simple model of circular rotation for our Galaxy. Numerical simulations have been performed for the last 20 years to study the details of their evolution, and their possible interaction with the Galactic disk. Here we present a brief review of the models that have been already published, and describe newly performed three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic simulations.

The optical properties of ZnO thin film, being treated by O-plasma, have been studied using Photoluminescence(PL) spectroscopy with the change of temperature from 10 K to 290 K. Two characteristic peaks were identified at 10 K : 3.357 eV($D^{\circ}X$) and 3.324 eV(TES). The peak of $D^{\circ}X$ is believed to be due to neutral donor bound excitons where the donor is in the ground state. However, the TES(Two Electron Satellite) peak indicates the excited state of the donor(excitation energy was ~30 meV). The donor binding energy was estimated to be 44 meV, which indicates the possible presence of the neutral donor bound excitons at RT. The thermal effect including thermal broadening was identified from temperature evolution of the spectrum. Both the peak intensity and the peak energy have decreased as the temperature increases. As the temperature approaches to RT, the two peak merges into one broad peak, which is considered a combination of multiple peaks having different physical origins.
An ionization front (IF) surrounding an H II region is a sharp interface through which a cold neutral gas makes transition to a warm ionized phase by absorbing UV photons from central massive stars. We investigate the structure and instability of a plane-parallel D-type IF threaded by magnetic fields parallel to the front. We find that magnetic fields increase the maximum propagation speed of the IFs, while reducing the expansion factor, defined as the density ratio of neutral to ionized phases. IFs become unstable to distortional perturbations due to gas expansion across the fronts, exactly analogous to the Darrieus-Landau instability of ablation fronts in terrestrial flames. The growth rate of the IF instability is proportional linearly to the perturbation wavenumber as well as the upstream flow speed. The IF instability is stabilized by gas compressibility and becomes completely quenched when the front is D-critical. The instability is also stabilized by magnetic pressure when the perturbations propagate in the direction perpendicular to the fields. When the perturbations propagate in the direction parallel to the fields, on the other hand, it is magnetic tension that reduces the growth rate, completely suppressing the instability when ${\beta}$ < 1.5, with ${\beta}$ denoting the square of the ratio of the sound speed to the Alfven speed in the pre-IF region. When the front experiences an acceleration, the IF instability cooperates with the Rayleigh-Taylor instability to make the front more unstable. We discuss potential effects of IF instability on the evolution and dynamics of IFs in the interstellar medium.
The confinement degradation of the energetic particles during RMP would be a key issue in success of realizing the successful energy production using fusion plasma, because a 3.5 MeV energetic alpha particle should be able to sustain the burning plasma after the ignition. As KSTAR recent results indicate the generation of high-performance plasma(${\beta}_p{\sim}3$), the confinement of the energetic particles is also an important key aspect in neutral beam driven plasma. In general, the measured absolute value of the neutron intensity is generally used for to estimating the confinement time of energetic particles by comparing it with the theoretical value based on transport calculations. However, the availability of, but for its calculation process, many accurate diagnostic data of plasma parameters such as thermal and incident fast ion density, are essential to the calculation process. In this paper, the time evolution of the neutron signal from an He3 counter during the beam blank has permitted to facilitate the estimation of the slowing down time of energetic particles and the method is applied to investigate the fast ion effect on ELM suppressed KSTAR plasma which is heated by high energy deuterium neutral beams.
The rates of consumption of iodine and gas evolution in hydrazine-iodine reaction in the presence of large excess of hydrazine have been studied in the pH range 0.5${\sim}$7. They are the same at very low pH and both increase to respective asymptotic values as pH is increased. The rate of iodine consumption is three orders of magnitude faster than the rate of gas evolution at higher pH. The results are explained by postulating that $N_2H_4$ but not protonated form reacts with iodine and an intermediate, probably $N_2H_2I_2$, is formed which decomposed by first order reaction of rate constant about 1.5${\times}10^{-3}sec^{-1}$ in neutral and weakly acidic solutions.
