  • This study aims to analyse the U-City characteristics through the U-City historical mapping. The U-City characteristics were analysed by building the U-City historical map in terms of STIM model which consists of service, technology, infrastructure and management. The data for analysis is the National Informatization White Paper published by the NIA (National Information Society Agency) from 2002 to 2013. As a result, first, the U-City service were evolved from administration informatization, enterprise informatization, administration/living informatization and administration/space/private informatization through the intelligence facilities and space. Second, the U-City technology were changed through wire network, sensor/network, processing/super-highway network, convergence of network/security. Third, the U-City infrastructure have had evolutionary process such as wire computer network, wire/wireless network, intellectualization facility and intelligent facility space. Forth, the U-City management were carried out with making the unit network/infrastructure management, information connection/operating management and information integration/participation management. Therefore, the history of U-City has been making rapid development in government computerization, computer oriented society, information city and ubiquitous city.

  • This paper is to provide some suggestions to complement and extend theory of network city, and to consider preliminarily its applicability for development of the Yeongnam region, exploring its normative implications for urban and regional policy and its significance of empirical research. In order to resolve some limitations and problems of network city theory and of empirical research, we need to reconsider systematically analysis methods, to extend indices of connectivity, to reconfirm normative characters inherent in network city theory, to suggest the constitution of cooperative governance, and to develop policies for embedding functional connectivity into internal community. In a preliminary analysis of Yeongnam region on the basis of network city theory, it is not clear whether the urban system of the region is entirely a type of network city, even though it seems to be close to network city. However, in order for the Yeongnam region to orient towards network city, we can point out importance of policy issues such as expansion of transportation and communication infrastructure, strengthening of economic connectivity, constitution of cooperative governance, and local embeddedness of functional network within the region.

  • In this paper, the design methodology of information security is analyzed to implement the ubiquitous city (u-City). The definition, concept, and main u-services of u-City are presented. The main components, functio ns and offering services of u-City management center are presented, and the laws and network security requirements related to protect the personal information in collecting, processing, and exchanging are also analyzed. Three step security levels of Router/Switch, Firewall/VPN, and IPS are applied where main functions of in terception of abnormal packets($1^{st}$ level), access control for each service($2^{nd}$ level), and real-time network monitoring($3^{rd}$ level) are performed. Finally, application cases are presented to validate the security of personal information in providing the u-City services.

  • In this study, hydraulic analysis of water-supply networks in Marivan was performed by modeling. WATERGEMS was used for modeling and it was calibrated using existing rules and regulations. The purpose of this research is modeling urban water network and its analysis based on hydraulic criteria and meeting pressure conditions at the nodes and complying the economic speed. To achieve this goal, first the pipelines of city streets was designed in AutoCAD on a map of the city. It should be mentioned that it was tried to prevent from creating additional loops in the network and the optimal network was designed by a combination of annular and branch loops. In the next step, the pipes were called in WATERGEMS and then we continue the operation by the allocation of elevation digits to the pipes. Since the topography of this city is very specific and unique, the number of pressure zones was increased. Three zones created only covers about 20% of the population in the city. In this dissertation, the design was performed on the city's main zone with the largest density in the Figures 1,320-1,340. In the next step, the network triangulation was conducted. Finally, the Debiw as allocated based on the triangulation conducted and considering the density of the city for year of horizon. Ultimately, the network of Marivan was designed and calibrated according to hydraulic criteria and pressure zoning. The output of this model can be used in water-supply projects, improvement and reform of the existing net-work in the city, and various other studies. Numerous and various graphs obtained in different parts of a network modelled can be used in the analysis of critical situation, leakage.

  • The purpose of this study is to exhibit the characteristics and changes of city network in China through the analyses railway structures and movement of passengers and goods in China. On the basis of accessibility analysis., central China area shows the highest level of accessibility, and it declines toward periphery areas. The center of City network was transfered from the central area to the east. Three main lines from north to south and the central status of main cities remain unchanged. The city network stratum structure of China can be divided into three levels. The first level is in a pattern of linear distribution within provices along main lines. The second level, shows a pattern of strengthened linear distribution and crossed influencial regions. The third level includes 5 areas.

  • This article describes power supply infrastructure construction methods which are considered from U-City infrastructure. For the eisting city and town, it is one the issue to find an economic method to construct outside infrastructure including ubiquitous service device. Because the economic construction method could minimize the construction budget which cost big portion of U-City. And the power supply infrastructure is the fundamental layer to keep network and service layer stable. This paper suggests several ways to construct methods with keeping pre-constructed underground power cable by attaching inepensive power nodal controller working in zigbee network and introduces how to monitor and mana ge the status of power supply to network and service device.

  • The objective of this study is to identify the applicability of urban network theory. The degree of network and city size of 163 Si-Guns in Korea are used to perform an empirical analysis for 2005 and 2010. The result indicates that the effect of city size (based on central place theory) is still larger than the network effect (based on urban network theory). However, the effects are different according to the industrial types. The size-based effectis more efficient in manufacturing sector, whereas the network-based effect is more efficient in service industry. The trend from 2005 to 2010 indicates that there is an increasing pattern in network-based effect and decreasing patternin size-based effect. It is necessary to recognize continual benefit of the sized-based effect, however it is also important to distinguish different characteristics of the functional form by the size and network. The feasibility of the urban network theory is tested in this study with the empirical analysis and recommends the importance of policy implication with recognition of the distinction between size and network-based effects.

  • In this paper, we made cost & benefit analyses of both WLAN-based and WiBro-based wireless networks for U-City(Ubiquitous City). We obtained basic data for cost analysis such as the number of network equipments through cell design and cell-coverage analysis. Also we made benefit analysis considering technical features of WLAN and WiBro networks. By cost & benefit analysis, we have reached conclusions that WiBro-based wireless network has earlier BEP(Break-Even Point) and larger NPV(Net Present Value) than WLAN-based network, and that WiBro is more efficient wireless network for U-City.

  • The smart cities are evolving constantly and are responsible for the current transformation of cities and countries into a completely connected network of information and technology This interconnected network of a huge number of smart devices is capable of exchanging complex information and provides tremendous support including enhanced quality of life within urban locations. Unfortunately this set-up is vulnerable to security attacks and requires the widespread ubiquitous network to authorize access through privacy and thus offer security in order to ensure civilian participation in a country. The smart network should benefit the individuals of the country by developing potential strategies to protect the smart cities and their participating entities from the unauthorized attacks. Trustworthy data sharing strategies based on the utilization of advanced technology features via smart communication network could solve some issues of privacy and security. This paper presents the challenges and issues related to protection and highlights the important aspects of securing the smart cities and its components. It also presents the role of cloud security for building a secure smart city.

  • The concept of Eco-city is to protect the city against development, trash, and industrialization. But the sprawl phenomenon of urbanization and industrialization are accompanied by the environment destruction. Therefore the importance and definition of eco-city were suggested. And to restore the urban ecological network, the prototype direction of eco-city at YongJeonDong in DaejeonCity were suggested in this study. It is believed that how to create an eco-city is an artificially developed $\square\square$Yong-Jun Dong$\square\square$ is a pending issue we are faced with situation. Herein lies the necessity of natural environment restoration and creation based on the so-called the Third Ecology
