  • This study investigated the relationships among marital conflict, child-rearing stress, and affection-rejection parenting for mothers of preschoolers. The subjects were 208 mothers who lived with at least one preschooler in Daegu or Gyeongbuk Province. The collected data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation, and single and multiple regression, using SPSS Win 15.0. The results were as follows. (1) Mothers' marital conflict was negatively associated with affection parenting. However, the negative influence of mothers' marital conflict on affection parenting was mediated by child-rearing stress. (2) Mothers' marital conflict was positively associated with rejection parenting. However, the positive influence of mothers' marital conflict on rejection parenting was partially mediated by child-rearing stress.

  • In this study we fed control diet and tryptophan supplemented diets containing 0.35% tryptophan to ICR mice for 2 weeks. The concentrations of serotonin and 5-HIAA were changed by injection of the serotonin synthesis inhibitor, p-CPA and the serotonin precursor, serotoninP and the change of brain serotonin concentration negatively correlated with that of pain sensitivity, and p-CPA and serotoninP also changed the analgesic effect of morphine. The injection of naloxone, the opiate antagonist, resulted in an increase in the writhing frequency, but its antagonistic effect was not significant. The concentration of 5-HIAA elevated in mice brain at least 3hr after administration of morphine hydroxide indicates that the changes in brain serotonin metabolism may be associated with the acute effects of morphine analgesia. In short, these results not only suggest that tryptophan supplemented diet suppress pain sensitivity in mice, but also indicate that at least in part analgesic mechanism of serotonin may be associated with morphine analgesia.

  • This study is to investigate factors that affect preference to CMDS(convergence mobile data service) on institutionalization of MDS. A research model was proposed and subsequent hypotheses were empirically tested with partial least square (PLS) based on 400 responses from the users of CMDS(DMB: 200 / m-Banking: 200). It was learned that institutionalization of technology related building MDS was positively associated with assimilation of MDS(represent a institutionalization of MDS) rather than service quality and use gratification. It means that users decided use of MDS refereed from its level of assimilation to MDS channel. Also, attractiveness of alternatives to CMDS is negatively associated with continuous use of CMDS and preference to CMDS. Lastly, their association strength was partially moderated by the type of motivation for using CMDS.

  • This study empirically examines the relationship between the career orientations of R&D professionals and their demographic characteristics (age, tenure, and education level), affiliated organizations (public and private organizations), reward systems. It further explores the contingent effects of the career orientation fit between leader and members on their performance. The results reveal that : 1) five different career orientations (technical, manager, project, technical transfer, and entrepreneur) are empirically distinguished, 2) technical orientation of R&D professionals is higher in public in private sectors, 3) technical, project, and manager orientation are positively associated with the education level, while technical transfer and entrepreneur orientation are negatively associated with the education level, 4) manager and technical transfer orientation is positively related with age and tenure, 5) the career orientation fit between leader and member is closely related with job satisfaction and organization commitment, and partially related with technical performance, 6) R&D professionals with different types of career orientation exhibit different preference to various rewards. Based on these findings, this study suggests several practical implications for the design of career ladder, mentoring, and reward systems of R&D professionals.

  • This study was designed to examine the relationships between three distinct dimensions of teacher-child relationship(closeness, conflict, and dependency) and various aspects of children's social competence. The subjects were 101 children at their ages of five to six years old (56 keys, 45 girls) in Jeonju city. The data were collected through preschool teachers by using self-administered questionnaire method. The results showed that teacher-child relationship was significantly associated with their social competence in preschool. Specifically, closeness in children's relationship with their teachers was fouled to be strongly correlated with children's social competence, white conflict between children and their teachers was negatively related with children's social competence. Finally, children's dependency on their Coachers was associated with children's problem behaviors.

  • Purpose: This study was designed to explore the relationship of depression with stress, anxiety and mindfulness in nursing students in 2010. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used and data was collected through structured questionnaires. Depression, stress, anxiety, and mindfulness were measured by using the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS) and the Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS). The data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: A total of 131 nursing students participated in this study. Depression was positively associated with stress (r=.81, p<.001) and anxiety (r=.76, p<.001), and negatively associated with mindfulness (r=-.73, p<.001). Multiple regression analyses showed that in different type of residence, anxiety and mindfulness were statistically significant predictors of depression with explanatory power of 67%. Conclusion: When nurse instructors manage depression among nursing students, the strategies need to address stress, anxiety, and mindfulness. This study may help nursing students to better manage their depression.

  • Transient receptor potential melastatin 7 (TRPM7) is a member of the melastatin-related subfamily and contains a channel and a kinase domain. TRPM7 is known to be associated with cell proliferation, survival, and development. It is ubiquitously expressed, highly permeable to $Mg^{2+}$ and $Ca^{2+}$, and its channel activity is negatively regulated by free $Mg^{2+}$ and Mg-complexed nucleotides. Recent studies have investigated the relationships between TRPM7 and a number of diseases. TRPM7 regulates cell proliferation in several cancers, and is associated with ischemic cell death and vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) function. This review discusses the physiologic and pathophysiologic functions and significance of TRPM7 in several diseases.

  • Parents' marital conflicts are often linked to various emotional and behavioural difficulties of their children but rarely known about later adolescent and adult lives. This study was undertaken to examine if serious parental conflict such as divorce and/or separation in childhood was associated with emotional and social performance during later adolescent and adult lives. The research literature on divorce was briefly reviewed. The data was derived from the National Child Development Study (NCDSS 1974/age 16 - 1991/age 33) which followed the lives of 17,500 individuals born on March 3-9, 1958 in England, Scotland and Wales. Regression analyses indicate strong evidence that the experience of parental divorce or separation in childhood negatively affects the child's emotional and social performance in their subsequent life. The higher likelihood of having emotional problems, being less competent at their job, experiencing health/disability problems, being a lone-parent, unemployed, and homeless were strongly associated with parental divorce or separation experienced in childhood. Intervention is desirable to address the concerns influencing socio-psychological performance amongst children who have experienced parental divorce or separation.
