I. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study lies in examining following items: 1. Difference in creativity between boys and girls 2. Inter correlation of the sub-variables of creativity 3. Correlation between parent-child relationship and creativity 4. The relationship between creativity and number of siblings 5. Creativity and birth-order II. METHODS & PROCED URES 1. Instruments: Standardized Creativity Test and Parent-Child Relationship Test for children 2. Objects: 118 boys and 97 girls enrolled in primary schools in Seoul who were selected by random sampling 3. Procedure: (1) The data of the boy group and the girl group were analized by means of M,t, SD. (2)The relationships between creativity and the number of siblings as well as the relationship between creativity and birth order were analyzed by M. (3) Inter-correlations among the sub-factors of creativity were obtained in boys and girls. (4) Complex-correlations between creativity and parent child relationship were produced. III. RESULTS 1. There were no significant differences between boy and girl in creativity. 2. Inter correlation among the sub-factors of creativity Boy: The highest scores were obtained in fluidity, and adaptability, the lowest in originality and openness. Girl: The highest score were obtained in world scribbling and fluidity, the comparatively low were in originality and a match-problem. 3. Inter-correlation between creativity and parent-child relationship a. Father-son: The positive refusal type has the most significant relation and conflict type, discrepancy type, negative type in turn have significant inter-coorelations. b. Mother-son: Discrepancy type, conflict type, positive refusal type have high correlations, while negative refusal type, anticipation type, and anxiety show significance in 5% level. c. Father-daughter: Positive refusal type shows correlation of 5% level significance, while indulgence type shows negative correlation in 1% level significance. d. Mother-daughter: Discrepancy type shows 5% level significance, while indulgence type shows negative correlation in 1% level. 4. Concerning the number of siblings, it was found that, boys and girls alike, those grown among 3 or 5 showed most creativity. 5. Concerning the birth order, it was found that, boys and girls alike, the first child showed the most creativity, and the youngest showed the next to the most, while the middle showed the least creativity.
It can be said that the ultimate goal of advertising is creating consumers' buying intention and buying behavior toward advertised goods. But literature suggests that ads have both intended and unintended consequences, and one of the unintended consequences is that the idealized images of physical attractiveness found in advertising have negative impact on girls' and womens' self-perceptions. Thus, this study, using social comparison theory as a framework, was designed to investigate the influences of the images of models in ads portrayed in TV and fashion magazines on the purchasing intention, self-esteem and body satisfaction of college women. Using an experimental stimulus, a moving picture representing thin and attractive models in the context of advertising fashion goods, two conditions were manipulated and the subjects were placed into one of two groups randomly, the experiment group and the control group. The experiment group only was exposed to the ads portraying highly attractive models. Data were collected from two groups using same questionnaire. The data were analyzed using t-test, two-way ANOVA, and descriptive statistics. The findings were as follows: 1. The thin and attractive image of models in ads on buying intention had significant positive influence on buying intention(p<.05). 2. The thin and attractive image of models in ads had significant negative influences on self-esteem(p<.05). 3. The thin and attractive image of models in ads had significant negative influence on body satisfaction(p<.05). 4. The ideal body internalization had significant negative influences on body satisfaction(p<.05), but interaction effect of model's image and ideal body internalization on body satisfaction was not significant.
The aim of this study was to develop and validate measures of a mother's reaction to children's negative emotions. After construct factors of a mother's reaction to children's negative emotions based on the theoretical basis and existing scales were explored, the first preliminary items were extracted. After the content validity was confirmed by expert opinions, the second preliminary items were composed, and the initial survey was carried out. Using exploratory factor analysis, three principal factors and 21 items were revealed to be most suitable. The factors of the scale consist of emotion-coaching-reactions, oversensitive reactions, and emotion-minimizing-reactions, respectively. In addition, the reliability analysis and validation analysis of the scale was conducted, by means of surveying 413 elementary students. The internal coherence reliability and test-retest reliability were verified as was the general internal coherence and timing stability of the scale. There were three additional verifications to validate the scale. (1)For the evidence based on internal structure, the confirmatory factor analysis and convergent-discriminant evidence; this resulted in confirming the factor structure of the scale as being reliable. (2)In order to understand the relationships to other variables, the correlation analysis came in effect to the overall scale and each of its sub-factors, showing that they are significantly correlated with the scale of the child's perception on rearing attitudes of the mother. (3)As for evidence based on the consequences of the test, the correlation analysis produced a result showed that sub-factors of the scale have as significant correlation with the child's emotional intelligence and resilience.
This study analyzed per capita expenditure (food expenses, housing expenses, health care costs, and cultural & entertainment expenses) by the consumption quintile for middle and older elderly households in addition to personal characteristics, household characteristics and economic factors affecting it. A sample collected from the 6th KLoSHA in 2016, was 2,983 households. First, among each per capita expenditure, the largest expenditure was food expenses, followed by housing expenses, health care costs and cultural & entertainment expenses. Compared with the first quintile of personal consumption expenditure, the largest increase in the fifth quintile was food expenses, followed by cultural & entertainment expenses, housing expenses, and health care costs. Second, compared to the fifth quintile of per capita food expenses, all other quintile had negative effects, and only the first quintile showed a negative effect compared to the fifth quintile of per capita housing expenses. The first, the second, and third quintile had a negative effect compared to the fifth quintile of per capita health care costs. Compared with the fifth quintile of per capita cultural & entertainment expenses, only the third quintile showed a negative effect. Third, in all quintile of per capita food expenses, the most influential variable from the first quintile to the third quintile was marital status, while in the fourth and fifth quintile included household income. In all quintile of per capita health care costs, health status was the most influential variable from the first quintile to the fourth quintile, and residence was in the fifth quintile.
Recently, purchasing expensive branded apparel became prevalent among adolescents as they consume conspicuously. People in their adolescence strongly tend to follow peers and are very likely to pay attention to how they wear look to others. Already a good deal of prior research about young people's conspicuous consumption have focused on variables related to these behaviors. The purpose of this study is to examine demographic characteristics of adolescents who show a conspicuous consumption and factors affecting this consumption which is related to peer relations. And we will examine how negative emotions arisen out of relations influence teenagers' conspicuous consumption of branded apparels ultimately. Being out of favor from peers has an effect on anxiety which is negative emotion in association with peer relations. According to the survey, adolescents did conspicuous consumption following others or following trends to get rid of anxiety. Also, if appears to be acting on clothing consumption as a means not to be marginalized. All these findings are expected to be useful information to adolescents to have a better habit of consumption life, and also anticipated to be valuable information for consumer behavior education. The cause of youth's show-off behavior, which is still incomplete in identity formation and immature in choice and judgement, will have to be analyzed and countermeasures taken against it.
Objective: This study examined the change of informal labeling self-respect, depression/anxiety, and aggression of adolescents over time and relationship between the intercept and the growth of the variables. Method: 4-year longitudinal panel data(n=2,699), Korea Youth Panel Survey (KYPS), were analyzed to verify the influence of informal labeling on self-respect, depression/anxiety, and aggression of adolescents. Through latent growth modeling, temporal change of the variables was examined. Results: Analytic results are as follow. First, the initial status of informal labeling had a negative impact on the initial status of self-respect. The slope of informal labeling also had a negative impact on the slope of self-respect. In contrast, the initial status of informal labeling did not have an significant impact on the slope of self-respect. Second, the initial status of informal labeling had a positive impact on the initial status of aggression. The slope of informal labeling had a negative impact on the slope of aggression. In contrast, the initial status of informal labeling did not have an significant impact on the slope of aggression. Third, the initial status of informal labeling had a positive impact on the initial status of depression/anxiety and a negative impact on the slope of depression/anxiety. The slope of informal labeling had a positive impact on the slope of self-respect. Conclusions: The results suggest the importance of informal labeling on self-respect, depression/anxiety, and aggression of adolescents.
Background: This study was conducted to examine the correlation of VDT, posture and shoulder function among each group divided by according to the neck pain disorder index (NDI) scores for female patients with neck pain. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Fifty adult women with neck pain voluntarily participated in this study and the neck pain disorder index questionnaire, VDT syndrome assessment tool questionnaire, craniovertebral angle, thoracic kyphosis angle, round shoulder posture, pectoralis minor length, shoulder joint hypermobility, and serratus anterior strength tests were conducted respectively. Subjects were divided into two groups where 21 subjects were allocated to the mild pain group whom have rated below 14 points on the NDI scores, and 29 subjects were in the severe pain group, whom have rated above 15 on the NDI score. Results: The study found that in the mean difference between variables in each group, VDT syndrome showed a higher mean score in the severe pain group than the mild pain group (p<0.05). In the group correlation and regression analysis, the mild pain group showed a significant negative correlation between the craniovertebral angle and round shoulder posture (r=-0.467, p<0.05), and the round shoulder posture for craniovertebral angle was shown to have significant positive influence (B=10.162, p<0.05). The severe pain group showed that the NDI and the VDT syndrome had a significant amount of correlation (r=0.520, p<0.01), the VDT syndrome showed significant positive influence (B=0.330, p<0.05), and the craniovertebral angle showed significant negative influence (B=-0.809, p<0.05). It was also shown that shoulder joint hypermobility had a significant negative correlation with the serratus anterior strength (r=-0.437, p<0.01), and that serratus anterior strength had a significant negative influence on shoulder joint hypermobility (B=-4.175, p<0.05). Conclusion: This study is of clinical significance in that it presented variables that should be considered depending on the degree of neck pain in treating patients with neck pain and that it presented patients with not only posture but also the function of the shoulder joint as factors to consider.
Purpose - This study examines the relationships between leader-member exchange (LMX), perceived fit, organization-based self-esteem (OBSE), corporate citizenship, work engagement, and employees' negative word-of-mouth (NWOM). In particular, it analyzes the effect of the interaction between LMX and corporate citizenship on OBSE, and the effect of the interaction between perceived fit and corporate citizenship on OBSE. Finally, this study analyzes moderated mediation by legal/ethical citizenship and philanthropic citizenship, and work engagement in the LMX-NWOM relationship and the perceived fit-NWOM relationship, respectively. Design/methodology - The research data were collected through a questionnaire from 293 employees working at 117 restaurant companies in Korea. Findings - The results were as follows. First, both LMX and perceived fit were negatively related to employees' NWOM. Second, both LMX and perceived fit were positively related to OBSE. Third, OBSE was negatively related to employees' NWOM. Fourth, legal/ethical citizenship and philanthropic citizenship were found to attenuate the positive (+) relationship between perceived fit and OBSE, respectively. Fifth, it was found that work engagement weakened the negative (-) relationship between OBSE and NWOM. Finally, OBSE was found to have a partial mediating effect moderated by corporate citizenship (legal/ethical citizenship and philanthropic citizenship) and work engagement in the relationship between perceived fit and NWOM. Originality/value - This study makes a theoretical contribution by expanding the mechanisms associated with LMX and NWOM by revealing the mediating effect of OBSE in their relationship. Additionally, this study makes a theoretical contribution in that it demonstrates the importance of enhancing legal and ethical citizenship and philanthropic citizenship by revealing the moderating effect of corporate citizenship in the relationship between perceived fit and OBSEE. Finally, it makes a theoretical contribution by suggesting that the interaction between work engagement and OBSE is important in reducing employees' NWOM by revealing the moderating effect of work engagement.
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships among Chinese state-owned enterprises (SOEs), previous M&A experience, and the probability of deal completion in cross-border mergers and acquisitions (CBMAs). Since Chinese SOEs tend to be recognized by host countries as agents of their home country government, this study argues that SOEs will face difficulties in completing CBMA deals. However, the study expects that these difficulties may vary depending on whether the firm has previous M&A experience because firms can gain the knowledge and capabilities necessary to implement subsequent M&As successfully from past M&A experience. Design/methodology - To investigate our argument, we conduct a logistic regression using a sample of 363 CBMA deals from 304 Chinese publicly listed firms during 2007 to 2017. We used SOEs as an independent variable, experience of domestic and foreign M&As as moderating variables, respectively, and CBMA deal completion as the dependent variable. Findings - The study shows a negative and significant relationship between Chinese SOEs and the completion likelihood of CBMA deals. We find that this negative relationship is strengthened when the firm had prior domestic M&A experience, whereas foreign M&A experience alleviated the negative relationship. Originality/value - The issue of government ownership has remained unclear since government intervention has both advantages and disadvantages in pursuing CBMAs. Our findings support literature that argues Chinese SOEs face legitimacy concerns in the host countries, thereby lowering their CBMA deal completion likelihood. Furthermore, the study enriches the literature by identifying different moderating effects of domestic and foreign M&A experience on the negative relationship between SOEs and CBMA deal completion.
Although previous works have established that mood can considerably influence consumer behavior (Vohs et al. 2007), they provided inconsistent results (Cohen et al. 2008). In particular, previous works only examined the willingness of consumers to regulate their mood and implicitly assumed that consumers have the control to regulate their mood states. Thus, this research intends to fill the current gap in the extant literatures by investigating whether consumer locus of control (CLOC) can act as a moderator for mood effects on consumers' likelihood to purchase. In an experiment, participants' CLOC was initially measured. Afterwards, they watched different video clips to induce different mood states. Finally, participants rated their likelihood to purchase after seeing an advertisement. The results suggest that, in the positive mood, CLOC tendencies do not impact consumers' likelihood to purchase. However, in the negative mood, internal CLOC consumers show a higher likelihood to purchase than external CLOC consumers. This phenomenon occurs because consumers with high internal CLOC tendencies have the motivation to regulate their negative mood. These findings extend the extant literatures in four aspects. First, this paper shows that the CLOC tendencies could influence consumers' motivation to regulate their negative mood. Second, this research examines the moderating effect of CLOC in the relationship between mood and consumers' likelihood to purchase. Third, the results add further evidence regarding the role of negative mood in the self-regulation process. Finally, this research also shows that mood can unconsciously influence consumer behavior. This paper provides two managerial implications. First, marketers should consider the mood states and consumers' control tendencies in creating advertisements. Second, firms in retail or service business should aim to evoke a positive mood on consumers so that their CLOC tendencies would not influence their behaviors.
