  • GC/MS analysis of 27 controlled pesticides in herbal drugs was studied. Selected ion monitoring(sim) technique was applied to increase the GC/MS sensitivity. Typical peaks in th e mass spectrum of each pesticides were selected as quantitation, comfirmation or alternate ion. Twenty seven pesticides were divided into five groups according to their retention time and the peaks for SIM were programmed accordingly. The combination of two ionization methods, electron impact(EI)-SIM-MS and negative ion chemical ionization(NCI)-SIM-MS, were well-fitted for the detection, confirmation and quantitation of multiclass residual pesticides in herbal drugs.

  • Maritime terrorism at sea is the form of violent interference with shipping. Its global reach and negative impact on sea transportation, safety of navigation and marine environment, as well as the threat it poses to human lives and property, call for effective countermeasures at the international and national level at the same time. First, this paper gives a factual assessment of the phenomenon of maritime terrorism as well as a legal analysis of the international provisions to suppress such forms of violence at sea which is different from piracy. And also this paper attempts to address and identify issues relevant to the existing international regulations such as SUA Convention as the main source of international regulations applicable to acts of terrorism at sea, ISPS Code, PSI, etc. Finally this paper suggests the national countermeasures against maritime terrorism in light of above mentioned the definition, causes, types of maritime terrorism and concerning international regulations.

  • The EU has introduced various environmental protection policies and regulations which are stricter than accepted international standards. WEEE, RoHS, and EuP directives in the Electrical and Electronic Industry could have a direct effect on our exports to EU countries. To gradually enlarge exports to the EU, it is necessary to have a precise understanding of the EU's environmental regulations and prepare the relevant countermeasures to adequately cope with them. Korean companies should formulate concrete plans to meet the EU's environmental regulations in those industry. In order to decrease the negative effects that environmental regulations of EU give to Korea, the corporations and the government should change their present passive environmental policy and carry out the environmental- friendly policy. If Korean companies can adequately meet the standards set by the environmental policies and regulations of the EU, it will greatly enhance the competitiveness of companies in this market.

  • Recently the landscape of housing has been emphasized. This trend seems to reflect the negative aspects of housing landscape in urban area. Throughout the analysis on the various visual density index, the following findings were obtained; 1) Elevation blockage ratio(EBR) was permitted differently according to the types of housing blocks, and the preference of block layout was different to the location of site. 2) EBR regulation level was acceptable. But 40m level of general area should be stepped up to the 35m level. 3) The correlation between the floor area ratio(FAR) and the EBR was not high. Therefore it is reasonable to regulate the EBR to the location. 4) Elevation coverage ratio(ECR) was highly correlated with the FAR. It means that FAR can substitute for the ECR, and ECR should be regulated to the level of FAR.

  • We analyzed the effects of government intervention on competition structure of telecommunication companies.. Results showed a decrease in market share difference among mobile telecommunication companies due to increased competition caused by the introduction of mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) and mobile number portability. We also found that the introduction of the MVNO caused a relaxed competition structure between network operators. Furthermore, we observed an increased subscriber influx of late adapters after the introduction of the Mobile and Service Retail Regulation Law (MRL). However, we found a gradual decrease in the competitiveness of MVNO following the introduction of MRL. In addition, the introduction of Mobile and Service Retail Regulation Law had a negative impact on customer churn as well as the financial structures of telecommunication companies.

  • Platform finance is emerging as an alternative finance for SMEs by suggesting a new funding source based on a new technology named FinTech. The essence of this business is the adapting ICT challenges to the financial industry that can adequately reflect risk assessment using Big Data and effectively meet individual risk-return preference. Thus, this is evolving as an alternative to existing finance in the form of P2P loans for Micro Enterprises and supply-chain finance for SMEs that need more working capital. Platform finance in Korea, however, is still at an infant stage and requires policy support. This can be summarized as follows: "Participation of institutional investors and the public sector," meaning that public investors provide seed money for the private investors to crowd in for platform finance. "Negative system in financial regulations," with current regulations to be deferred for new projects, such as Sandbox in the UK. In addition, "Environment for generous use of data," allowing discretionary data sharing for new products," and "Spreading alternative investments," fostering platform finance products as alternative investments in the low interest-rate era.

  • This paper reports on the results of epidemiological investigation of daily health effects in the elderly associated with daily exposure to particulate matters in Korea. Our main focus is on the potential difference in health effects between PM10 and PM2.5. While the Korean environmental authority has set an ambient standard for PM10, the government currently does not monitor PM2.5, which has no national standard. A daily data on respiratory symptoms as well as PM concentrations are collected for a total of 120 days. Using a probit model, we find statistically significant negative health effects of PM2.5 on respiratory symptoms among the nonsmoking elderly, while PM10 does not show such effects from the estimation. This result suggests that, for air quality regulatory purposes, PM2.5 can be a more appropriate air pollutant than PM10.

  • In this study, prior studies of 280 small business owners in Korea over the past two decades were comprehensively analyzed through keyword network and LDA topic modeling analysis, and overall views and trends in academia were examined. As core keywords, "sales" and "protection," which conflict with each other but are essential for stable and sustainable growth were selected, and 7 topics (Topic 1: start-up, topic 2: digital, topic 3: tax system, topic 4: capability, topic 5: coexistence, topic 6: regulation, and topic 7: funding) were drawn up. Based on the results of the analysis, the need to improve digital maturity for the continued growth and development of small business owners was raised, and the response at the pan-ministerial level and the stability of the performance of functions that can survive even after the new administration to solve the economic damage problems facing small business owners were suggested. In addition, attention to the long-term, speed, detail, and direction of government support in a new way, and a flexible approach to the negative way in which pre-allowance and post-regulation is given were suggested.

  • The SOx emission from the ship diesel engines will do a negative influence to the human health and the environment. To reduce the negative environmental effect of the SOx emission caused by the high traffic of ship movements, the SECA (SOx emission control area) has been set on several province around world to carry out the severe emissions control and to meet the emissions control standard. To cut down the SOx emission from the ships, the wet type scrubber is being used widely. In this work, we prepared a numerical model to simulate the spray type scrubber to study the motion of liquid droplets in the flow of the scrubber. For the analysis, the CFD (computational fluid dynamics) method was adopted. As a special topic of the study, we designed the wave plate type of mist eliminator to check the carry over of the uncontrolled water droplet to the exhaust. Numerical analysis is divided into two stages. At the first stage, the analysis was done on the basic scrubber without the mist eliminator, and then the second stage of analysis was done on the scrubber with the mist eliminator on several condition to check and compare with the basic scrubber. On the condition of the basic scrubber, 42.0% of the distributed water droplets were carried over to the exhaust. But by adding the designed droplet eliminator at the exhaust of the scrubber, only 3.4% of the distributed water droplets supplied to the scrubber was emitted to the atmosphere.

  • The theory of reasoned action was examined as a theoretical model which explains the relationships among belief, attitude, and intention regarding the policy of limiting the total number of visitors per day in the national parks during the high-demand season. Also, effects of persuasive messages developed to change users' attitude toward the policy positively were examined. Among the visitors in Kyeryongsan National Park, 563 visitors participated in on-site and mail survey. The number of visitors who had positive and negative attitudes toward the policy was in the ratio of 43 to 49. A significantly positive relationship was found between the sum of belief and outcome evaluation crossproducts and attitude(r=0.42). Intention could be explained with attitude in an acceptable power ($R^2=0.32$). The visitors who had negative attitude and intention regarding the policy before the treatment were changed positively by the two types of persuasive messages. Among the visitors receiving the persuasive messages, 74% answered that carrying out the policy is good and 66% intended to agree to carrying out the policy. It was indicated that the persuasive messages were an effective communication method between park managers and users.
