  • The aim of this study is to review phenomenological characteristics in Alvaro Siza's works through his design intention, methods and results. As a Portuguese architect, his personal and local background as well as pursuing the essence of architecture made phenomenological characteristics of his works. The emphasis of the placeness of site and the existence of architecture has close relationship with Heidegger's concept of dwelling and the role of architecture. Although Siza has maintained white plat plane of interior space which is one of features of modern architecture, he provides dramatic and dynamic experiences of space using curved and acute angle of plane in his latter part of works. Another his phenomenological nature of buildings is a striking display of space and light which is remarkable especially in his museum designs. He made this character in adopting various shapes of double ceilings, openings and their combination with natural light which he always emphasizes. As a result, Alvaro Siza's phenomenological characteristics comes not from clear architectural or philosophical theory but from continuous practice based on pursuing the essence of architecture.

  • Due to its nature, business foundation accompanies high levels of risk taking and responsibility. For this reason, entrepreneurs come to experience various negative emotions in the process of business foundation such as anxiety about risks, fear of failure, and pressure of success. However, entrepreneurs' negative emotions reduce individual inclinations for business foundation. Thus, it is necessary to research individual psychological characteristics that could reduce and attenuate entrepreneurs' negative emotions. To this end, this study examined the effects of Self-forgiveness, and Narcissism, psychological motivation variables, and Positive psychological capital and Career ambition, goal motivation variables, on entrepreneurial intentions. In order to verify research hypotheses, 326 questionnaires collected from prep-entrepreneurs were used for the empirical analysis. Looking at the analysis results, Self-forgiveness, Narcissism, Positive psychological capital and Career ambition had significant effects on entrepreneurial intentions. This study has a meaning in that it confirmed the influential relationship between the psychological characteristics reducing entrepreneurs' negative emotions and entrepreneurial intentions. In addition, this study suggested its implications, limitations, and future research directions based on the study results.

  • In spite of enormous increase in data generation, its practical usage in the construction sector has not been prevalent enough compared to those of other industries. The author would explore the obstacles against efficient data application in the arena of expenditure forecasting, and suggest a forecasting method by applying Case-based Reasoning (CBR). The newly suggested method in the research, enables project managers to forecast monthly expenditures with less time and effort by retrieving and referring only projects of a similar nature, while filtering out irrelevant cases included in database. Among 99 projects collected, the cost data from 88 projects were processed to establish a new forecasting model. The remaining 10 projects were utilized for the validation of the model. From the comprehensive study, the choice of the numbers of referring projects was investigated in detail. It is concluded that selecting similar projects at 12~19 % out of the whole database will produce a more precise forecasting. The new forecasting model, which suggests the predicted values based on previous projects, is more than just a forecasting methodology; it provides a bridge that enables current data collection techniques to be used within the context of the accumulated information. This will eventually help all the participants in the construction industry to build up the knowledge derived from invaluable experience.

  • Unilateral absence of a pulmonary artery (UAPA) is a rare congenital anomaly that may present with various symptoms, depending on the nature and severity of other cardiovascular anomalies. Furthermore, contralateral lung surgery in patients with UAPA is extremely rare, and clinical experience is limited. This report describes a case of surgical treatment of contralateral primary lung cancer in a patient with isolated UAPA. A 56-year-old man was diagnosed with primary lung cancer accompanied by isolated UAPA on the contralateral side. He underwent meticulous cardiorespiratory function tests preoperatively. We performed a right lower lobectomy. Although in the immediate postoperative period, the patient suffered from a mild decline in his respiratory function, he recovered uneventfully. The present case shows that preoperative awareness of UAPA and meticulous perioperative management enable contralateral lung surgery to be performed safely.

  • This study investigates the effects of corpus-based vocabulary tasks on the acquisition of English vocabulary in an attempt to explore the influence of corpus use on EFL pedagogy. For this to be realized, a total of 40 Korean high school students participated in the study over a 4-week period. An experimental group used a set of corpus-based tasks for vocabulary learning, whereas a control group carried out a traditional task (i.e., the L1-L2 translation) for vocabulary learning. To assess learning gains, the students were asked to complete the pre- and post-treatment tests measuring the word form, meaning, and use aspects of target lexical items. Results of the study indicate that in the experimental group the corpus-based vocabulary tasks were beneficial for the learning of word forms and use. In particular, corpus-based benefits were greatest in the low-proficiency EFL learners' collocational aspects of vocabulary use. On the other hand, in the control group, the traditional vocabulary tasks benefited the meaning aspects of target vocabulary items the most. In addition, survey results revealed that most students were positive about the corpus-based learning experience although some expressed reservations about the heavy cognitive load and the time-consuming nature of the analysis of corpus data primarily due to learners' lack of language proficiency.

Method: Research methodology was based upon Parse's human becoming research methodology. Results: a) Despite the despair the family feels by the violence caused by their now-institutionalized relative, they also realize anew the importance of their role as protectors b) Although they fear social stigmatization they also try to be supportive, out of guilt feelings; c) They regret their severe rearing style and wish to be more sympathetic, d) They find courage and hope through family therapy, which leads to a better understanding of the illness, e) With hopes of rehabilitation, the family members feel happy and go through an emotional release, by sharing the pain with each other. Conclusion: Families of nursing home residents share a focus on the process of human-health-universe. This is a positive,'human-becoming' process with which, based on past feelings of despair, fear, resignation, and pain, one can render meaning into his or her experiences in the present in the pursuit of love, conquest, hope, liberty and success.

  • Dynamic and fragmented characteristics ale two of the most significant factors that distinguish the construction industry from other industries. Previous forecasting techniques have failed to solve the problems derived from the above characteristics and do not provide considerable support. This paper deals with providing a more precise forecasting by applying Case-based Reasoning (CBR). The newly developed model in this study enables project managers to forecast monthly expenditures with less time and effort by retrieving and referring only projects of a similar nature, while filtering out irrelevant cases included in database. For the purpose of accurate forecasting. the choice of the numbers of referring projects was investigated. it is concluded that selecting similar projects at $5\~6\;\%$ out of the whole database will produce a more precise forecasting. The new forecasting model. which suggests the predicted values based on previous projects, is more than just a forecasting methodology it provides a bridge that enables current data collection techniques to be used within the context of the accumulated information. This will eventually help all the participants in the construction industry to build up the know ledge derived from invaluable experience.
