  • Natural rubber bound phenolic antioxidant, 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-vinylphenol (2,6-DBVP), was prepared from natural rubber and 2,6-DBVP in both solution and melt state. The 2,6-DBVP had been synthesized from 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde and methyltriphenylphosphonium iodide ($MePPh_3I$) by Wittig reaction ($0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs, $N_2$ atmosphere). The conditions for preparation of natural rubber bound 2,6-DBVP (NR-DBVP) were optimized for both solution state (1 phr BPO and 8 phr 2,6-DBVP at $70^{\circ}C$ for 2 hrs) and for melt state (1 phr BPO and 8 phr 2,6-DBVP at $70^{\circ}C$ for 10 mins, with rotor speed of 60 rpm). A thermoplastic vulcanizate was obtained using a compatibilizer, polypropylene modified with phenolic resin (PhHRJ-PP), in a closed mixer ($180^{\circ}C$ for 3 mins, rotor speed 60 rpm). The antioxidant properties of vulcanized NR-DBVP, using phenolic as the vulcanization system, were similar to NR with the conventional antioxidant BHT. In addition, the antioxidant, water leaching property of the thermoplastic vulcanizate of NR-DBVP/PP were good in comparison to a NR blend with BHT; the morphologies of these thermoplastic vulcanizates were similar.

  • Natural convection flows in a doubly-inclined cubical air-filled cavity are numerically simulated by a solution code(PowerCFD) using unstructured cell-centered method. For a physical realizability, the cavity has one pair of opposing isothermal faces at different temperatures, $T_h\;and\;T_c$, respectively, the remaining four faces having a linear variation from $T_c\;to\;T_h$. The paper redefines a new doubly-inclined orientation for the cubical-cavity benchmark problem. Special attention is paid to three-dimensional thermal characteristics in natural convection according to the new orientation at $Ra=4\times10^4$. Comparisons of the average Nusselt number at the cold face are made with benchmark solutions and experimental results found in the literature. It is found that the average Nusselt number at the cold face has a maximum value at the doubly-inclined angle ranging from $40^{\circ}\;to\; 45^{\circ}$ We also report the effect of new orientation on the type of temperature structure in a doubly-inclined cubical-cavity.

  • The cytidine bio-sensors have been constructed by immobilizing the bacterium Proteus mirabilis and organelle on an ammonia gas sensor. The bacterial sensor was investigated for the effects of pH, temperature, buffer solution, bacterial amounts, interferences and lifetime. The bacterial sensor had linearity in the range of 5.0 ${\times}$ 10$^{-4}$M ∼ 1.0 ${times}$ 10$^{-2}$M cytidine with a slope of 56 mV/decade at pH 7.8, 30$^{\circ}C$ and 3 mg in 1.0 M phosphate buffer solution. This bacterial sensor was compared with it's organelle sensor.

  • On the premise of ensuring that the static performance of the concrete spreader is met, the first-order natural frequency of the concrete spreader is increased, and the weight of the main beam is reduced. ANSYS is used as an analysis tool to perform modal analysis on the concrete spreader. The natural frequency, mode shape and modal test verification will be obtained to ensure the accuracy of finite element model analysis. Using the ANSYS designxplorer module, the size of the main beam is set, and the response surface model between the parameter variables and the optimization objective is established according to the experimental design points. Screening algorithm and MOGA algorithm are used to multi-optimize the stress, first-order natural frequency and girder weight, and the optimal solution is obtained by comparison. The results of modal analysis are consistent with those of the experiment, and a set of optimal solutions is obtained through the optimization algorithm. The optimal solution obtained can meet the purpose of increasing the first-order natural frequency of the concrete spreader and reducing the weight of the main beam under the premise of ensuring the overall dynamic and static performance of the concrete spreader.

  • In this paper, we propose new iteration methods for finding a common point of the solution set of a pseudomonotone equilibrium problem and the solution set of a monotone equilibrium problem. The methods are based on both the extragradient-type method and the viscosity approximation method. We obtain weak convergence theorems for the sequences generated by these methods in a real Hilbert space.

  • This paper introduces a numerical method approximating the minimum norm solution to the first kind integral equation Kf = g with its kernel satisfying a certain property, where g belongs to the range space of K. Most of the existing expansion methods suffer from choosing a set of basis functions, whereas this method automatically provides an optimal set of basis functions approximating the minimum norm solution of Kf = g. Perturbation results and numerical experiments are also provided to analyze this method.

  • One of the techniques to determine flood stages in natural channel is to find the solution of unsteady flow equations such as continuity and momentum equations. Since the exact analytic solution of these equations are not Known, the implicit numerical scheme is widely accepted tool for the approximate solution of equations. This technique is applied to the downstream of Daechung Dam in Geum River for the determination of flood stage for given frequency. However the flood stages are greatly affected by the method of reservoir Operation Method and Technical Operation Reservoir Method. Obviously, the Tech. ROM is found to be superior to Auto ROM.

  • A Double Facade System(DFS) is well known as an innovative solution of ecological facade in the west european countries. There are more than 200 various realized DFS in Germany. At the same time, the korean engineers have researched to find out the physical advantages of DFS in the moderate korean climate, which has a very humid summer with high temperature and a dry winter with low temperature. For example, the monthly mean temperature in Korea comes up to 28K, while that in Germany comes up to only 19K. That is, why a other solution of DFS is needed in Korea. This study has experimented the physical performance of the natural ventilation in the heating period. The preheating function of the cold air by DFS can improve no doubt the performance of the natural ventilation at the cold season as well as spring and autumn. The physical difference between single and double facade on natural ventilation has been tested at the newly constructed laboratory, which can turn $360^{\circ}$ to confirm the characteristic of a facade with the various directions. The results show the natural ventilation of the DFS has definitely much more comfortable than that of the single facade system. The air velocity of the inflow as well as the air temperature in the DFS provide a more stable condition than in the SFS. The theoretical limit(air velocity max 0.2m/s, air temperature min. $18^{\circ}C$, temperature difference between 100mm and 1700mm height max. 3K) on the indoor comfortableness doesn't go over in the DFS. On the other hand, the SFS showed an unstable condition with an excess of comfortableness limit on air velocity as well as temperature. In view of the researching results so far achieved, the research came to a conclusion, that the DFS can provide a more comfortable indoor condition by the preheating in the heating period than a SFS, and the period of natural ventilation in winter time could be definitely increased at the DFS.

  • IgY was separated from a hen's egg yolk that was immunized with Helicobacter pyroli. The anti-H. pyroli IgY activity at acidic pH and the suppressive effect of polyol on acid-induced inactivation of IgY were investigated. Sorbitol and xylitol were used as polyols. IgY was quite stable at pH 5~7. Irreversible inactivation of IgY was observed at pH below 4, and proceeded rapidly at pH below 3. The acid stability of IgY was enhanced in the presence of 30% sorbitol or above. In a 50% aqueous sorbitol solution, an acid-induced inactivation was almost completely suppressed at pH 3. However, the improvement of IgY activity was not observed in the aqueous xylitol solution. IgY showed almost the same activity as native IgY when sucrose was substituted for sorbitol. On the other hand, the xylitol replacement with sucrose did not enhance the acid stability of IgY. The acid-induced inactivation of IgY was related to tryptophyl fluorescence. Fluorescence emission spectra suggested that structural changes near the tryptophan residues may occur under acidic conditions. An increase in sorbitol concentration induced a blue shift. The fluorescence emission of IgY in a 50% sorbitol solution had a peak at 330 nm, which was the same emission peak that was exhibited by native IgY. Sorbitol could, therefore, be used as a good stabilizer of IgY under acidic conditions.

  • The cytotoxicological effect of Bt 1-endotoxin, well-known as a bioinsecticide, was investigated on ion channel of insect cell lines. This study attempted to evaluted the specificity by simple experiment to measure the cell swelling using lepidopteran cell lines in isotonic solution containing only one cation. Cell swelling was stimulated in KCI-sucrose isotonic solution as well as TC-100 media containg in solubilized crystal 5-endotoxin. It suggested that the cell swelling by Bt toxin have a relation to K+ channel. The cell swelling may be due to the stimulation K+ influx and simultaneously the penetration of H2O induced by Bt toxin, because the stimulation of swelling was observed with the solubilized toxin in KCI-sucrose isotonic solution, but not in sucrose isotonic solution. Moreover the specific K+ channel blocker, such as 4-arnjnopyrimidine(4-AP) and ouabain, showed the significant effect on the cell swelling induced by Bt toxin. The increasement of the cell swelling induced by 4-AP suggested to be caused by the block of K+ efflux through K+ leak channels. The inhibition of cell swelling by ouabain, which is the well-known inhibitor of Na+, K+-ATPase, suggested to be due to decreasement of K+ influx following diminishment of Na+, K+-ATPase activities.
