농업기상재해 조기경보시스템의 전국 확대를 위한 단위 시스템의 개선 (Improvements of Unit System for nationwide expansion of Early Warning Service for Agrometeorological Disaster)

  • 농업기상재해 조기경보 서비스를 전국으로 확대하기 위해서는 각 지역별로 고유한 지리적, 농업환경적 특성에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 그리고 그에 적합한 전산 환경을 개발하는 것은 연구 대상 지역의 많은 농가에게 다양한 작물과 품종에 대한 서비스를 가능하게 하는 중요한 요소이다. 특히 확장성 있는 전산 환경의 설계는 서비스 영역이 확대되면서 전산 환경의 규모가 증가하게 되므로 농업 기상 서비스 품질에 상당한 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 이 연구의 목적은 각 지역별로 분산되어 서비스를 제공하고 있는 현재의 전산 구성에 대한 문제를 도출하고 그 해결책을 모색하는 것이다. 약 1년간 실험 운영을 통해 자체 평가한 결과 지역별로 분산된 조기경보서비스 시스템을 통합하면 중복 연산을 줄이고, 데이터의 효율적 저장과 종합적인 관리가 가능할 것으로 확인되었다. 이는 서비스 지역이 전국 규모로 확대되는 상황에서도 보다 안정적인 조기경보 서비스가 가능함을 의미한다. 이 연구를 통해 개별 농가에 대해 보다 향상된 품질의 서비스가 가능할 것으로 기대한다.

국내 육종업체의 기술 및 규모효율성 분석 -민간육종연구단지 조성을 계기로- (Measuring Technical and Scale Efficiencies of Korean Seed Companies -On the Outset of Establishing the Center for Private Seed Companies-)

  • The purpose of this paper was to measure technical efficiencies and scale efficiencies of Korean seed industry by DEA method, and to identify the factors affecting the efficiencies by Tobit regression model. Survey data of 50 seed companies nationwide were applied for the analysis. The average score of overall technical efficiency for the surveyed companies in 2012 was 0.44, which is decomposed into pure technical efficiency 0.68 and scale efficiency 0.63. A majority of the seed companies exhibited at least one form of inefficiency except a few companies in optimal scale. It was also shown the most companies were operating in the stage of increasing returns to scale, which implies Korean seed companies are mainly in smaller scale than optimal. Additional results suggest that the Center for Private Seed Companies, which will be established at Gimje in 2015, plays an important role to make domestic seed companies improve their scale efficiency as well as pure technical efficiency by way of enlarging their size and co-using the high technology in the Center.

한국형 노인요양시설 환자안전문화 측정도구 개발 및 평가 (Development and Validation of the Korean Patient Safety Culture Scale for Nursing Homes)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a tool to evaluate patient safety culture in nursing homes and to test its validity and reliability. Methods: A preliminary tool was developed through interviews with focus group, content validity tests, and a pilot study. A nationwide survey was conducted from February to April, 2011, using self-report questionnaires. Participants were 982 employees in nursing homes. Data were analyzed using Cronbach's alpha, item analysis, factor analysis, and multitrait/multi-Item analysis. Results: From the results of the analysis, 27 final items were selected from 49 items on the preliminary tool. Items with low correlation with total scale were excluded. The 4 factors sorted by factor analysis contributed 63.4% of the variance in the total scale. The factors were labeled as leadership, organizational system, working attitude, management practice. Cronbach's alpha for internal consistency was .95 and the range for the 4 factors was from .86 to .93. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the Korean Patient Safety Culture Scale has reliability and validity and is suitable for evaluation of patient safety culture in Korean nursing homes.

관측교통량 기반 기종점 OD행렬 추정모형의 대규모 가로망에 적용(CG모형 적용을 중심으로) (The Estimation of an Origin-Destination Matrix from Traffic Counts using Conjugate Gradient Method in Nationwide Networks)

  • 본 연구는 Conjugate Gradient법을 적용하여 개발한 관측교통량기반 기종점 OD행렬 추정모형이 대규모 가로망에서도 적용 가능성이 있는지를 판단하기 위하여 246개죤 기준 전국 가로망에 적용하여 적용성 및 활용가능성을 판단해 보았다. 대규모 가로망에서 모형의 일치성을 분석한 결과, 모형의 상위수준과 하위수준이 내부적으로 유기적인 관계를 유지하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 관측링크 개수에 따라 모형의 추정력을 분석한 결과 교통량 오차는 허용오차 범위내에서 추정력을 확보하는 것으로 나z타났다. 또한 추정 기종점 OD행렬의 추정력 역시 기존의 모형을 이용한 결과치보다는 양호한 추정력을 보이고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 더 많은 다양한 실험을 하여 개발된 모형의 알고리즘의 안정성이 확보된다면 대규모 가로망에서도 적용 가능성이 있다고 판단된다.

  • 본고에서는 우리나라와 중, 미국, 일본에서 대학입학 전형자료로 쓰이는 국가 단위의 시험 과목 가운데 수학 과목의 시험 체제와 내용, 문항유형을 분석하여 제시하였다. 이를 통해서 대학입학 전형자료로 사용하기 위한 국가 단위의 대규모 시험에서 필수로 포함될 필요가 있는 내용, 그 내용을 적절하게 담아낼 수 있는 문항 유형, 마지막으로 이 전체를 유효적절하게 구성하여 효과적으로 시험을 치르게 하기 위한 시험체제에 관한 시사점을 도출하고자 한다. 그리하여 향후 개정 교육과정에 따른 대학수학능력시험 수리영역의 출제 체제를 결정하는 데에 논의의 바탕을 제공하고자 한다.

Distribution and synchronized massive flowering of Sasa borealis in the forests of Korean National Parks

  • Background: Genus Sasa, dwarf bamboos, are considered to be species that lower biodiversity in the temperate forests of East Asia. Although they have a long interval, they, the monocarpic species, have a unique characteristic of large-scale synchronized flowering. Therefore, once they have flowered and then declined, it may be an opportunity for suppressed surrounding species. A previous study reported that Sasa borealis showed specialized flowering nationwide with a peak in 2015. However, this was based on data from a social network service and field survey at Mt. Jeombong. Therefore, we investigated S. borealis in the forests of five national parks in order to determine whether this rare synchronized flowering occurred nationwide, as well as its spatial distribution. Results: We found a total of 436 patches under the closed canopy of Quercus mongolica-dominated deciduous forests in the surveyed transects from the five national parks. Of these patches, 75% occupied a whole slope area, resulting in an enormous area. The patch area tended to be larger in the southern parks. Half (219 patches) of the patches flowered massively. Among them, 76% bloomed in 2015, which was consistent with the results of the previous report. The flowering rate varied from park to park with that of Mt. Seorak being the highest. The culms of the flowering patches were significantly taller (F = 93.640, p < 0.000) and thicker (F = 61.172, p < 0.000). Following the event, the culms of the flowering patches declined, providing a good opportunity for the suppressed plant species. The concurrent massive flowering of the mature patches was believed to be triggered by some stress such as a spring drought. Conclusion: We confirmed that the rare synchronized flowering of S. borealis occurred with a peak in 2015 nationwide. In addition, we explored that S. borealis not only monopolized an enormous area, but also dominated the floors of the late-successional Q. mongolica-dominated deciduous forests. This presents a major problem for Korean forests. As it declined simultaneously after flowering, there are both possibilities of forest regeneration or resettlement of S. borealis by massively produced seeds.

환경부 8일 유량‧수질 자료를 이용한 SS오염부하량 산정의 한계점 분석 (Limitation Analysis on Estimation of SS Pollutant Load using Korean Ministry of Environment's 8-Day Interval Flow and Water Quality data)

  • In recent years, there has been demand for precise estimations of pollutant loads on nationwide scale for the development of appropriate site specific (watershed specific) policies to reduce the negative impact of pollutant loads. River flow data and water quality data that were previously collected by various research institutes and universities for specific research purposes for a limited period was utilized in this study. However, only TMDL 8-day interval flow and water quality data were available in national scale. Three watersheds were selected and pollutant loads were calculated by two methods i.e., Numeric Integration (NI) method and Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT). Subsequently, the results were compared to determine the appropriate method for monitoring nonpoint source networks nationwide. The SWAT model was calibrated and its estimated daily flow data were used in the NI method with estimated sediment data for 8-day monitoring data for three watersheds. The results indicated that the quantity of pollutant loads estimated with the NI and SWAT are different to some degrees especially during the summer season for all the three study watersheds. Thus, more frequent sampling of water quality is needed for nonpoint source pollutant estimation.

Parental satisfaction with pediatric emergency care: a nationwide, cross-sectional survey in Korea

  • Purpose: This study attempted to examine parental satisfaction with pediatric emergency care (PEC) in Korea and investigate the features influencing overall satisfaction. Methods: A nationwide, cross-sectional survey was conducted among parents who had taken their children to an Emergency Department (ED) in the three years prior to the study. A 21-item, structured questionnaire was administered to the parents through a web-based system. Participants' satisfaction levels and the strength of the association between PEC components and overall satisfaction were rated using a 7-point Likert scale. Results: In total, 1,000 parents participated in the survey, of which 402 (40.2%) stated that they were generally satisfied with the delivered PEC. Female participants, mothers, and parents with low-acuity patients were more likely to be dissatisfied with the delivered PEC. Although the ED environment was the lowest level of satisfaction, it did not significantly influence the respondents' overall levels of satisfaction. The most influential factors in terms of overall satisfaction were "nurses' professionalism" and "doctors' attitude and proper explanation". Conclusion: Parents' overall level of satisfaction with PEC is relatively low and is closely related to factors associated with ED personnel.

한의약 문화산업의 성격분류와 현황분석 - 2013 동의보감 엑스포 성공적 추진방향 모색 - (Identification of the Cultural Events of Traditional Korean Medicine and its Analysis - For the Success of 2013 DongUiBoGam Expo -)

  • Below are the indications that cultural events in traditional Korean medicine nationwide give to the prospective 2013 DongUiBoGam World traditional Alternative Medicine Expo, especially to the se lection of the Expo's site. If the DongUiBoGam Expo is held as outdoor event, it can secure merits of current local council events' advantages: linking lived experiences to natural and historical resources. As in case of the EXOM and Hanghang EXPO that are held as indoor activivies in metropolitan area, if held the DongUiBoGam Expo can secure easily large-scale academic activities and health lectures. Thus, the key point for the DongUiBoGam Expo's success will he how to combine the good points of currently-held cultural outdoor and indoor activities in the field of traditional Korean medicine nationwide.

Sources of Infection Among Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 in Jeju Province, Korea

  • Objectives: Jeju Province in Korea reported 627 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases between January 20, 2020, and March 31, 2021. This study analyzed the sources of infection among confirmed cases in Jeju Province, a self-governed island. Methods: The sources of infection were broadly categorized as follows: (1) infections from overseas (confirmed patients who reported travel overseas or contact with overseas travelers); (2) infections from outside Jeju Province (confirmed patients who had visited other provinces or had contact with individuals who had traveled to other provinces in Korea); and (3) unknown sources of infection (confirmed patients who were infected following contact with an infected person whose source of infection was unknown). The chi-square test was used to analyze the differences in the distributions of related variables for each source of infection. Results: Of the 627 confirmed cases, 38 (6.1%) were infections from overseas sources, 199 (31.7%) were from outside of Jeju Province, and 390 (62.2%) were from unknown sources. Jeju Province had no cases with an unknown source of infection during the first and second waves of the nationwide outbreak. Conclusions: Infections from overseas sources could be blocked from spreading to local communities in Jeju Province by conducting screening at the airport, along with the preemptive suspension of visa-free entry. In addition, considering the scale of the nationwide outbreak, measures must be established to delay outbreaks from unknown sources of infection caused by sources outside Jeju Province.
