  • Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films were prepared with RF-PECVD (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition) method on coming glass and silicon substrates using methane ($CH_4$) and hydrogen ($H_2$) gases. We examined the effects of $CH_4$ to $H_2$ ratios on tribological and optical properties of the DLC films. The structure and surface morphology of the films were examined using Raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The hardness of the DLC film was measured with nano-indentor. The optical properties of DLC thin film were investigated by UV/VIS spectrometer and ellipsometry. And also, solar cells were fabricated using DLC as antireflection coating before and after coating DLC on silicon substrate and compared the efficiency.

Synthesis and optical properties of ZnO thin films prepared by SILAR method with ethylene glycol

  • An ultrasonic-mediated assisted stepwise method has been developed for depositing transparent ZnO films from aqueous solution. Rinsing in low ethylene glycol temperature was easy to produce intermediate phase of $Zn(OH)_2$, rinsing in $120^{\circ}C$ ethylene glycol was observed the diffraction peak of intermediate $Zn(OH)_2$ in early report, the rinsing temperature plays an important role in the process of $Zn(OH)_2$ phase transformed to ZnO, high rinsing temperature actually improved the intermediate phase. However, the effect of rinsing on the intermediate phase is yet to be understood clearly. The effect of different rinsing procedures, involving either of or a combination of successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) and ultrasonic-assisted rinsing, prior to hydrolysis in ethylene glycol was found to improve the occurrence $Zn(OH)_2$ in ZnO thin films. In the zinc complex ($[Zn(NH_3)_4]^{2+}$) solution, excess ($[Zn(NH_3)_4]^{2+}$) absorbed in glass substrate transformed incompletely to ZnO and exist as $Zn(OH)_2$ phase in thin films. In films deposited at low temperature, rinsing procedure is applied to improve excess $Zn(OH)_2$ and obtain smoother transparent thin films.

On the preparation of iron pyrite from synthetic and natural targets by pulsed electron deposition

  • We report on the preparation of iron pyrite ($FeS_2$) using pulsed electron ablation of two targets, namely, a mixture of sulfur and iron compound target, and a natural iron pyrite target. Thin films of around 50 nm in thickness have been deposited on glass substrates under Argon background gas at 3 mTorr, and at a substrate temperature of up to $450^{\circ}C$. The thin films have been analyzed chemically and examined structurally using x-ray diffraction (XRD), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and visible Raman spectroscopy. The morphology and thickness of the films have been assessed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and visible spectroscopic reflectance. The preliminary findings, using a synthetic target, show the presence of iron pyrite with increasing proportion as substrate temperature is increased from $150^{\circ}C$ to $250^{\circ}C$. The data have not shown any evidence of pyrite in the deposited films from a natural target.

  • 전도성 혹은 비전도성 지지체에서 전기변색이 가능한 수 nm에서 수액 nm 두께의 금속 니켈 박막 형성에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 광학렌즈나 혹은 LCD에 사용되는 ITO, 실리콘 웨이퍼에 박막 형성에 대한 연구는 다양한 두께의 니켈 박막은 자체로서의 응용 가능성 뿐 아니라, 광전기화학 소자, 특히 선글라스로 대변되는 변색 소자에의 응용 가능성이 아주 크다. 이러한 소자들은 나노 기술 응용과 양자점의 응용 등으로 경박단소형의 렌즈나 전지, 유리 그리고 태양 선지 등에 응용이 가능하다. 전기화학적으로 니켈 금속을 ITO 유리위에 코팅한 후, AFM, XRD을 이용하여 미세구조를 확인하고, 순환전압전류법, 시간대전류법, 임피던스를 이용하여 이들의 전기화학적 박막 특성을 조사하였다.

Novel Electroluminescent Polymer Derived from Pyrene-Functionalized Polyaniline

  • A solution processable polymer was synthesized, by incorporating pyrene groups into the backbone of the polyaniline chain, and used as an emissive layer in an organic light emitting diode. The polyaniline base was reacted with acid chloride of pyrene butyric acid to form pyrene-functionalized polyaniline chains. The source of pyrene moiety was acid chloride of pyrene butyric acid. The formation of polymer from acid chloride of pyrene butyric acid and polyaniline was confirmed by the FTIR and $^1H$-NMR spectroscopy. Differential scanning calorimetry revealed high glass transition temperature of 210 $^{\circ}C$. Due to the presence of pyrene moieties in the backbone, the polyaniline synthesized in the present study is solution processable with light emitting property. The photoluminescence spectrum of the polymer revealed that emission lies in the blue region, with a peak at 475 nm. The light emitting device of this polymer exhibits the turn-on voltage of 15 V.

마이크로 링이 함유된 비혼합성 에멀젼 액적의 분류를 위한 Pinched Flow Fractionation 마이크로 채널 (Pinched Flow Fractionation Microchannel to Sort Microring-Containing Immiscible Emulsion Droplets)

  • Microring/nanoring structure has high applicability for nano-antenna and biosensor thanks to its superior optical characteristics. Although coiling nanowires manufactured using immiscible emulsion droplets have an advantage in mass production, this process also forms nanowire bundles. In this study, we solved the nanowire bundle problem by size-selective sorting of the emulsion droplets in a pinched flow fractionation microchannel. Utilizing silver nanowires and immiscible emsulsion droplets, we investigated the correlation between the size of ring droplets and bundle droplet. We visualized the sorting process for glass particles and microring-containing emulsion droplets. Droplets were sorted based on their size, and the ratio of bundle droplets in solution decreased. This droplet-sorting strategy has potential to help the printing and coating process for manufacturing of ring structure patterns and developing of functional materials.

An Investigation on the Crystal Growth Studies and Emission line shape in $Er^{3+}$-doped Sodium Tellurite Glasses

  • Crystallisation kinetics of the erbium doped soda-tellurite glasses were studied using the differential thermal analysis (DTA) and differential scanning calorimetery (DSC) techniques. The DTA curves in the temperature range of 350 K to 650 K were obtained from isochronal heating rates, chosen in the range of 2 to 20 K/min. DSC isothermal curves were used to calculate the fraction of crystals formed on reheating. The apparent activation energies for devitrification were derived by measuring the shifts in the values of $T_g$ and $T_x$ with heating rates, using the Kissinger method. The derived values of apparent activation energies for isochronal and isothermal methods varied in the range of $190-204\;{\pm}\;5\;kJ\;mol^{-1}$. The X-ray powder diffraction analysis of heat treated and transparent samples showed the presence of nano-scale size sodium-tellurite crystals. These crystallites were found to have a strong influence on the full width of half maxima of the transition in $Er^{3+}:\;^4I_{13/2}{\rightarrow}^4I_{15/2}$, which extended from 70 nm in the vitreous materials to 132 nm in glass-ceramic materials.

다중벽 카본 나노 튜브를 이용한 가스센서의 제작 (The Fabrication of Gas Sensors using MWCNTs)

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have excellent electrical, chemical stability, mechanical and thermal properties. In this paper, networks of Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) materials were investigated as resistive gas sensors for ethanol ($C_2H_5OH$) detection. Sensor films were fabricated by air spray method for the multi-walled CNTs solution on glass substrates. Sensors were characterized by resistance measurements in the sensing system, in order to find the optimum detection properties for the ethanol gas molecular. The film that was sprayed with the MWCNT dispersion for 60 see, was 300 nm thick. And the electric resistivity is $2{\times}10^{-2}\;{\Omega\cdot}cm$. Also, the sensitivity and the linearity of MWVNT sensor for ethanol gas are 0.389 %/sec and 17.541 %/FS, respectively. The MWCNT film was excellent in the response for the ethanol gas molecules and its reaction speed was very fast, which could be using as ethanol gas sensor. The conductance of the fabricated sensors decreases when the sensors are exposed to ethanol gas.

  • 수면 위의 지질 단분자는 박막 모델로서 많은 관심을 끌고 있으며, 많은 기술적인 응용법에 의해 다층의 박막 시스템을 연구하고 있다. 아조벤젠 혼합물인 아조벤젠 덴드리머의 단분자막에서 광이성화는 흡수스펙트럼과 멕스웰 변위전류법(MDC)에 의해 관찰할 수 있다. 덴드리머는 나뭇가지 모양을 닮은 고분자이며, 흡수스펙트럼에 의해 trans-to-cis 변환을 평가할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 덴드리머의 광이성화특성에 관하여 연구하였다.

평판형 마이크로 고체 추진제 추력기의 설계, 제작 및 평가 (Design, Fabrication and Testing of Planar Type of Micro Solid Propellant Thruster)

  • 마이크로/나노 위성체 개발과 함께 위성체의 자세 제어 및 궤도 수정을 위한 마이크로 추력기의 개발이 필요하게 되었다. 다양한 마이크로 추력기들 중 가장 각광 받고 있는 마이크로 고체 추진제 추력기를 소개하고, 추력기의 구성 요소들에 관한 연구 결과를 기술하였다. 추진제 점화를 위한 마이크로 백금 점화기를 제작하여 형상 변수에 관한 성능 평가를 수행하였다. HTPB/AP 고체 추진제의 특성 연구를 수행하여, 추진제의 연소 속도를 측정하였다. 마이크로 챔버는 감광성 유리를 이방성 식각하여 제작하였으며, 최종적으로 이들 요소들을 통합하여 마이크로 고체 추진제 추력기의 연소 실험을 수행하였다.
