  • For $1{\leq}k{\leq}r$, let ${\sigma}$($K_{r,r}$ - ke, n) be the smallest even integer such that every n-term graphic sequence ${\pi}$ = ($d_1$, $d_2$, ..., $d_n$) with term sum ${\sigma}({\pi})$ = $d_1$ + $d_2$ + ${\cdots}$ + $d_n\;{\geq}\;{\sigma}$($K_{r,r}$ - ke, n) has a realization G containing $K_{r,r}$ - ke as a subgraph, where $K_{r,r}$ - ke is the graph obtained from the $r\;{\times}\;r$ complete bipartite graph $K_{r,r}$ by deleting k edges which form a matching. In this paper, we determine ${\sigma}$($K_{r,r}$ - ke, n) for even $r\;({\geq}4)$ and $n{\geq}7r^2+{\frac{1}{2}}r-22$ and for odd r (${\geq}5$) and $n{\geq}7r^2+9r-26$.

  • For an odd prime p, n=4k and $d=((p^2k+1)/2)^2$, there are $(p^{2k}+1)/2$ distinct decimated sequences, s(dt+1), $0{\leq}l<(p^{2k}+1)/2$, of a p-ary m-sequence, s(t) of period $p^n-1$. In this paper, it is shown that the cross-correlation function between s(t) and s(dt+l) takes the values in $\{-1,-1{\pm}\sqrt{p^n},-1+2\sqrt{p^n}\}$ and their, cross-correlation distribution is also derived.

  • In this paper we introduce a new concept for Riesz almost lacunary ${\chi}^3$ sequence spaces strong P - convergent to zero with respect to an Orlicz function and examine some properties of the resulting sequence spaces. We introduce and study statistical convergence of Riesz almost lacunary ${\chi}^3$ sequence spaces and some inclusion theorems are discussed.

  • The antitumor antibiotic (+)-CC-1065 can alkylate N3 of guanine in certain sequences. A previous high-field $^1H$ NMR study on the$(+)-CC-1065d[GCGCAATTG*CGC]_2$ adduct ($^*$ indicates the drug alkylation site) showed that drag modification on N3 of guanine results in protonation of the cross-strand cytosine [Park, H-J.; Hurley, L. H. J. Am. Chem. Soc.1997, 119,629]. In this contribution we describe a further analysis of the NMR data sets together with restrained molecular dynamics. This study provides not only a solution structure of the (+)-CC-1065(N3- guanine) DNA duplex adduct but also new insight into the molecular basis for the sequence- specific interaction between (+)-CC-1065 and N3-guanine in the DNA duplex. On the basis of NOESY data, we propose that the narrow minor groove at the 7T8T step and conformational kinks at the junctions of 16C17A and 18A19T are both related to DNA bending in the drugDNA adduct. Analysis of the one-dimensional $^1H$ NMR (in $H_2O$) data and rMD trajectories strongly suggests that hydrogen bonding linkages between the 8-OH group of the (+)-CC-1065 A-sub-unit and the 9G10C phosphate via a water molecule are present. All the phenomena observed here in the (+)-CC-1065(N3-guanine) adduct at 5'$-AATTG^*$are reminiscent of those obtained from the studies on the (+)-CC-1065(N3-adenine) adduct at $5'-AGTTA^*$, suggesting that (+)-CC-1065 takes advantage of the conformational flexibility of the 5'-TPu step to entrap the bent structure required for the covalent bonding reaction. This study reveals a common molecular basis for (+)-CC-1065 alkylation at both $5'-TTG^*$ and $5'-TTA^*$, which involves a trapping out of sequence-dependent DNA conformational flexibility as well as sequence-dependent general acid and general base catalysis by duplex DNA.

  • In this paper, we study the concepts of Wijsman lacunary invariant convergence, Wijsman lacunary invariant statistical convergence, Wijsman lacunary ${\mathcal{I}}_2$-invariant convergence (${\mathcal{I}}^{{\sigma}{\theta}}_{W_2}$), Wijsman lacunary ${\mathcal{I}}^*_2$-invariant convergence (${\mathcal{I}}^{\ast}^{{\sigma}{\theta}}_{W_2}$), Wijsman p-strongly lacunary invariant convergence ([W2Nσθ]p) of double sequence of sets and investigate the relationships among Wijsman lacunary invariant convergence, [W2Nσθ]p, ${\mathcal{I}}^{{\sigma}{\theta}}_{W_2}$ and ${\mathcal{I}}^{\ast}^{{\sigma}{\theta}}_{W_2}$. Also, we introduce the concepts of ${\mathcal{I}}^{{\sigma}{\theta}}_{W_2}$-Cauchy double sequence and ${\mathcal{I}}^{\ast}^{{\sigma}{\theta}}_{W_2}$-Cauchy double sequence of sets.

  • This paper presents some new paranormed sequence spaces $X(r,s,t,p;{\Delta})$ where $X{\in}\{l_{\infty}(p),c(p),c_0(p),l(p)\}$ defined by using generalized means and difference operator. It is shown that these are complete linear metric spaces under suitable paranorms. Furthermore, the ${\alpha}$-, ${\beta}$-, ${\gamma}$-duals of these sequence spaces are computed and also obtained necessary and sufficient conditions for some matrix transformations from $X(r,s,t,p;{\Delta})$ to X. Finally, it is proved that the sequence space $l(r,s,t,p;{\Delta})$ is rotund when $p_n$ > 1 for all n and has the Kadec-Klee property.

  • A simple method is proposed for determining the frequency response function G(j.omega.) of a system using a pair of characteristic M-sequences (maximum length linear feed back shift register sequence). When a characteristic M-sequence is sampled with q$_{1}$ and q$_{2}$ both of which are coprime with N, where N is the period of the M-sequence, the obtained pair of sequences have conjugate complex frequency spectrum. Making use of this fact, two charcteristic M-sequences having conjugate complex frequency spectrum are applied to a system to be measured. Since the magnitude of spectrium of M-sequence is known, the gain of G(j.omega.) is directly obtained from the Fourier transform of the system output. The phase of G(j.omega.) is obtained simply by taking the average of the two phases of output spectrum.

  • The ${\beta}$-lactamase inhibitory protein (BLIP) produced by Streptomyces exfoliatus SMF19 was purified(33 kDa) and the N-terminal amino acid sequence was determined as NH2-ATSVVAWGGNND. Genomic DNA library of S. exfoliatus SMF19 was constructed in pWE15 and recombinants harbouring the corresponding gene were selected by colony hybridization to the mixture of 36-mer oligonucleotide designed from the N-terminal amino acid sequence. The corresponding gene (bliX) was isolated on a 4-kb ApaI fragment of S. exfoliatus SMF19 chromosomal DNA and then sequenced. The bliX consisting of 1, 119bp encoded a mature protein with a deduced amino acid sequence of 342 residues and also encoded a 40-amino-acid signal sequence. No significant sequence similarity to bliX was found by pairwise comparison using various protein and nucleotide sequences.

  • Benzaldehyde dehydrogenase (BZDH), an enzyme involved in the degradation of toluene and xylenes, is encoded by the phnN gene of Pseudomonas sp. strain DJ77. We determined the nucleotide sequence of a DNA fragment of 1,803 base pairs which included the phnN gene. The fragment contained an open reading frame of 1,506 base pairs to accommodate th 55 kDa sized enzyme encoding BZDH. The enzyme efficiently oxidized benzaldehyde, salicylaldehyde, m-tolualdehyde and ps-tolualdehyde.
