  • As a part of the configuration design expert system of machine tools, inference mechanisms are constructed in this paper. In addition to procedural inference, the method of multivariable inference is considered as an efficient approach to deal with the cases of highly coupled condition. We propose a generalized multivariable inference procedure. The procedure is applied to the type selection module of the configuration design expert system of machine tools in order to demonstrate the efficiency and validity.

  • The dynamics and control of two complex column configurations (sidestream column with stripper; prcfractionater/sidestream column configuration), which are multivariable interacting and nonlinear, have been studied. A new control scheme developed by Hanand Park(1993) to deal with the nonlinear and multivariable nature of distillation processes has been applied to these complex distillation configurations. The control scheme incorporates a nonlinear wave model into a generic model control framework. An observer based on the nonlinear wave model is used to determine the profile positions of distillation column sections. The control scheme enables tight control of the profile position of each column section that leads to fast stabilization of product compositions.

  • This paper deals with MCMBPC(Multivariable Constrained Model Based Predictive Controller) for nonlinear boiler system with noise and disturbance. MCMBPC is designed by linear state space model obtained from some operating point of nonlinear boiler system and Kalman filter is used to estimate the state with noise and disturbance. The solution of optimization of the cost function constrained on input and/or output variables is achieved using quadratic programming, viz. singular value decomposition (SVD). The controller designed is shown to have excellent tracking performance via simulation applied to nonlinear dynamic drum boiler turbine model for 16OMW unit.

  • This paper suggests that the immune algorithm can effectively be used in tuning of a multivariable system. Then artificial immune network always has a new paraller decentralized processing mechanism for various situations, since antibodies communication to each other among different species of antibodies/B-cells through the simulation and suppression chains among antibodies that form a large-scaled network. In addition to that, the structure of the network is not fixed, but varies continuously.   • This paper presents the design of simple robust controller for a class of uncertain multivariable systems. We introduce switching dynamics instead of switching logics unlike variable structure control scheme. Also, we can construct the continuous control law from this switching dynamics and consequently remove the chattering motion. The dynamic equations of the range-space of a switching surface matrix C and uniform ultimate boundedness in the presence of parameter uncertainties are described mathematically.

  • This paper presents an approach for designing a linear multivariable servo mechanism for the case of constant and time varying disturbances. In this paper, we use an "observer-based" approach to consider the disturbance vector as states of the system and the resulting servomechanism design involves the design of an asymptotic observer which estimates both the actual plant states and the disturbance states. The design makes use of switching dynamics instead of switching logics to obtain the sliding mode and from the switching dynamics we can remove the undesirable chattering phenomena.phenomena.

  • Loop shaping techniques are developed for the LQG/LTR controller design of singular multivariable sytems. One approach is to use the mode form of plant and the other is to replace the eigenvalues at 0 by ones at .epsilon.(.rarw.0). These two concepts for the target filter loop design are applied to a flight autopilot. And it is shown that these techniques are effective ones for the desired loop-shaping of singular multivariable systems.

  • A kineamatic nonlinear multivariable laundher is modeled of which the azimoth and elevation axes are drived simultaneously and SISO and MIMO LQG/LTR controllers are designed and evaluated for this system. Also, the suitable command input function is suggested for the desired command following performance and the LQG/LTR control system with disturbances and load variation is evaluated for the entire operating range by computer simulation. It is found that the linear SISO LQG/LTR controller can be used for the kinematic nonlinear multivariable launder in the entire operating range and is effective for disturbance rejection and load variation.

  • In the present paper, we obtain a new formula for the generalized Weyl differintegral operator in a compact form avoiding the occurrence of infinite series and thus making it useful in applications. Our findings provide interesting generalizations and unifications of the results given by several authors and lying scattered in the literature.
