대학수학에서 바람직한 선다형문제 만들기 (Making Good Multiple Choice Problems at College Mathematics Classes)

  • 대학수학에서 배우는 여러 가지 수학적 개념을 이해하는데 좋은 문제를 통해 도움을 주고 평가에서 공정성을 확보하기 위해 문제풀이에서 개념을 이용하는 능력과 개념에 대한 이해를 조사하는 문제의 예를 미분적분학 문제로 세 가지 유형을 다루었다. 잘못 만들어진 단답형문제와 선다형문제의 예를 제시하고 또 증명문제의 경우를 포함하여 선다형문제를 잘 만드는 방법에 대해 알아보고 최선의 문제가 되도록 노력을 하고 개념의 이해를 도와주며 최선의 문제가 될 수 있도록 더 많은 연구가 이루어지고 학생들에 대한 조사를 시도하여 그 결과를 분석하고 더 정선된 문제를 얻도록 노력을 한다.

선다형 문제와 서술형 문제의 점수 차이와 이에 대한 학생들의 인식 -고등학교 기하 교과를 중심으로- (Difference of the scores of multiple-choice and descriptive problem and students' perceptions of the difference - Focused on high school geometry course -)

  • Descriptive problems can be used to grow student's ability of thinking logically and creatively, because it shows if the students had a reasonable way of thinking. Rate of descriptive problems is increasing in middle and high school exams. However, students in middle and high schools are generally used to answering multiple-choice or short-answer questions rather than describing the solving process. The purpose of this paper is to gain a theoretic ground to increase the rate of descriptive problems. In this study, students were to solve some multiple-choice problems, and after a few weeks, to solve the problems of same contents in the form of descriptive problems which requires the students to write the solving process. The difference of the scores were measured for each problems to each students, and students were asked what they think the reason for rise or fall of the score is. The result is as follows: First, average scores of 7 of 8 problems used in this study had fallen when it was in descriptive form, and for 5 of them in the rate of 11.2%~16.8%. Second, the main reason of falling is that the students have actual troubles of describing the solving process. Third, in the case of rising, the main reason was that partial scores were given in the descriptive problems. Last, there seems a possibility gender difference in the reason of falling. From these results, followings are suggested to advance the learning, teaching and evaluation in mathematics education: First, it has to be emphasized enough to describe the solving process when solving a problem. Second, increasing the rate of descriptive problems can be supported as a way to advance the evaluation. Third, descriptive problems have to be easier to solve than multiple-choice ones and it is convenient for the students to describe the solving process. Last, multiple-choice problems have to be carefully reviewed that the possibility of students' choosing incorrect answer with a small mistake is minimal.

수정(修正)된 다중선택(多重選択) 배낭문제(背囊問題)의 해법(解法)에 관한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Modified Multiple Choice Knapsack Problem)

  • The multiple choice knapsack problem is modified. To solve this modified multiple choice knapsack problem, Lagrangian relaxation is used, and to take advantage of the special structure of subproblems obtained by decomposing this relaxed Lagrangian problem, a modified ranking algorithm is used. The K best rank order solutions obtained from each subproblem as a result of applying modified ranking algorithm are used to formulate restricted problems of the original problem. The optimality for the original problem of solutions obtained from the restricted problems is judged from the upper bound and lower bounds calculated iteratively from the relaxed problem and restricted problems, respectively.

일반연속 다중선택 선형배낭문제의 효율적인 해법연구 (An Efficient Algorithm for the Generalized Continuous Multiple Choice linear Knapsack Problem)

  • We consider a generalized problem of the continuous multiple choice knapsack problem and study on the LP relaxation of the candidate problems which are generated in the branch and bound algorithm for solving the generalized problem. The LP relaxed candidate problem is called the generalized continuous multiple choice linear knapsack problem and characterized by some variables which are partitioned into continuous multiple choice constraints and the others which only belong to simple upper bound constraints. An efficient algorithm of order O($n^2logn$) is developed by exploiting some structural properties and applying binary search to ordered solution sets, where n is the total number of variables. A numerical example is presented.

Building Mathematics Competence via Multiple Choice Competitions

  • The paper focuses on a type of mathematics competence noted as synthetic. It is needed for success in multiple choice competition problems and it is crucial for the further development of advanced school students. The concept of synthetic competence includes a large fraction of mathematical competences, but also competences and skills related to informatics and linguistics. The general structure of a multiple choice competition is considered as the first level of assessment of the mathematics component of the synthetic competence. As the second level under consideration is the set of complex tasks in a competition test any of which is a bouquet of ideas. Our standpoint on the didactic specifics and goals of the two levels in perspective of the gifted education is briefly presented in the article and some examples are given.

  • This study shows that image deblurring problems can be transformed into the multi-parameter Tikhonov type with multiple right hand sides. Also, this paper proposes the extension of the global generalized cross validation to obtain an appropriate choice of the regularization parameters for this problem. The experimental results of using the preconditioned Gl-CGLS algorithm were analyzed.

A Structure of Personalized e-Learning System Using On/Off-line Mixed Estimations Based on Multiple-Choice Items

  • In this paper, we present a structure of personalized e-Learning system to study for a test formalized by uniform multiple-choice using on/off line mixed estimations as is the case of Driver :s License Test in Korea. Using the system a candidate can study toward the license through the Internet (and/or mobile instruments) within the personalized concept based on IRT(item response theory). The system accurately estimates user's ability parameter and dynamically offers optimal evaluation problems and learning contents according to the estimated ability so that the user can take possession of the license in shorter time. In order to establish the personalized e-Learning concepts, we build up 3 databases and 2 agents in this system. Content DB maintains learning contents for studying toward the license as the shape of objects separated by concept-unit. Item-bank DB manages items with their parameters such as difficulties, discriminations, and guessing factors, which are firmly related to the learning contents in Content DB through the concept of object parameters. User profile DB maintains users' status information, item responses, and ability parameters. With these DB formations, Interface agent processes user ID, password, status information, and various queries generated by learners. In addition, it hooks up user's item response with Selection & Feedback agent. On the other hand, Selection & Feedback agent offers problems and content objects according to the corresponding user's ability parameter, and re-estimates the ability parameter to activate dynamic personalized learning situation and so forth.

KHistory: 한국사 객관식 문제 자동 생성 시스템 (KHistory: A System for Automatic Generation of Multiple Choice Questions on the History of Korea)

  • 최근 한국사에 필요성이 증대하고 사람들의 관심이 높아지면서, 한국사 학습을 위한 다양한 어플리케이션들이 등장하고 있다. 이러한 기존의 한국사 학습 어플리케이션은 문제은행 방식으로 사용자들에게 객관식 문제를 제공한다. 하지만 문제은행 방식은 미리 저장된 문제를 가져와 사용함으로써 계속 사용할 경우 중복되는 문제로 인하여 필연적으로 학습효율이 떨어지게 된다. 본 논문에서는 한국사 데이터베이스를 기반으로 한국사 학습문제를 자동적으로 생성하는 시스템인 K-History의 개발과 이를 활용한 한국사 학습 어플리케이션인 한국사 무한도전의 개발에 대하여 기술한다. K-History의 개발을 위하여 한국사 학습 교재를 바탕으로 다양한 한국사 학습 문제를 분석하여 학습문제의 대표 유형을 분류하고, 발견된 유형에 따라 문제를 생성하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 개발된 한국사 학습문제 생성 기법은 다양한 학습 시스템에 적용되어 문제 생성을 위한 비용을 줄일 수 있으며, 다양하게 생성된 학습문제를 통하여 학습자의 학습효율을 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

풀이 과정을 답지로 이용한 시험 방식의 학습 효과 (The Learning Effect of Test that Worked Examples Used as Options)

  • 본 연구에서는 수학 학습을 위한 평가 도구로 풀이 과정을 답지로 이용한 시험 방식이 제안되었고, 그 효과가 검증되었다. 풀이된 예제 연구에 따르면, 학생들에게 문제에 대한 단계적인 해결책인 풀이된 예제를 문제 사이에 제시할 경우, 문제만 풀 때보다 효과적으로 학습한다. 그러나 풀이된 예제의 단순한 제시는 학습 효과가 제한적이라는 최근의 발견들이 있었다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 학습자가 풀이된 예제를 더 적극적으로 탐구하게 하는 방법으로 풀이과정을 선다형의 답지로 제시하였다. 이 시험 방식은 컴퓨터화 시험으로 구현되었으며, 학생들이 컴퓨터에서 단답형으로 문제를 풀고 나서 답지를 요청하면 선다형 답지가 제시되었다. 이 때 실험 집단은 답지가 풀이 과정으로, 비교 집단은 전통적 선다형과 같이 최종 정답으로 구성되었다. 초등학교 6학년 학생들을 대상으로 실험이 수행되었다. 사후 검사 결과 실험집단의 평균 점수가 비교집단의 평균 점수보다 높았다. 이 결과는 풀이 과정을 답지로 이용한 시험 방식이 교실현장에서 학습을 촉진하기 위한 도구로 활용될 수 있음을 시사한다. 끝으로 후속 연구의 방향성이 논의되었다.

인공신경망을 이용한 소비자 선택 예측에 관한 연구 (A study on forecasting of consumers' choice using artificial neural network)

  • Artificial neural network(ANN) models have been widely used for the classification problems in business such as bankruptcy prediction, credit evaluation, etc. Although the application of ANN to classification of consumers' choice behavior is a promising research area, there have been only a few researches. In general, most of the researches have reported that the classification performance of the ANN models were better than conventional statistical model Because the survey data on consumer behavior may include much noise and missing data, ANN model will be more robust than conventional statistical models welch need various assumptions. The purpose of this paper is to study the potential of the ANN model for forecasting consumers' choice behavior based on survey data. The data was collected by questionnaires to the shoppers of department stores and discount stores. Then the correct classification rates of the ANN models for the training and test sample with that of multiple discriminant analysis(MDA) and logistic regression(Logit) model. The performance of the ANN models were betted than the performance of the MDA and Logit model with respect to correct classification rate. By using input variables identified as significant in the stepwise MDA, the performance of the ANN models were improved.
