Segmentation Algorithm for Wafer ID using Active Multiple Templates Model

  • This paper presents a method to segment wafer ID marks on poor quality images under uncontrolled lighting conditions of the semiconductor process. The active multiple templates matching method is suggested to search ID areas on wafers and segment them into meaningful regions and it would have been impossible to recognize characters using general OCR algorithms. This active template model is designed by applying a snake model that is used for active contour tracking. Active multiple template model searches character areas and segments them into single characters optimally, tracking each character that can vary in a flexible manner according to string configurations. Applying active multiple templates, the optimization of the snake energy is done using Greedy algorithm, to maximize its efficiency by automatically controlling each template gap. These vary according to the configuration of character string. Experimental results using wafer images from real FA environment are presented.

  • This paper presents a method to segment semiconductor wafer ID on poor quality images. The method is based on multiple templates and normalized gray-level correlation (NGC) method. If the lighting condition is not so good and hence, we can not control the image quality, target image to be inspected presents poor quality ID and it is not easy to identify and then recognize the ID characters. Conventional several method to segment the interesting ID regions fails on the bad quality images. In this paper, we propose a multiple template method, which uses combinational relation of multiple templates from model templates to match several characters of the inspection images. To find out the optimal solution of multiple template model in ID regions, we introduce newly-developed snake algorithm. Experimental results using images from real FA environment are presented.

The method is based on dynamic programming using multiple templates and normalized gray-level correlation (NGC) method. If the lighting condition is not good and hence, we can not control the image quality, target image to be inspected presents poor quality ID marks and it is not easy to identify and recognize the ID characters. Conventional several methods to segment the interesting ID mark regions fail on the bad quality images. In this paper, we propose a multiple template method, which uses combinational relation of multiple templates from model templates to match several characters of the inspection images. To increase the computation speed to segment the ID mark regions, we introduce the dynamic programming based algorithm. Experimental results using images from real factory automation(FA) environment are presented.

  • This paper presents a method to segment object ID marks on poor quality images under uncontrolled lighting conditions of FA inspection process. The method is based on multiple templates and normalized gray-level correlation (NGC) method. We propose a multiple template method, called as ATM (Active Template Model) which uses combinational relation of multiple templates from model templates to match and segment several characters of the inspection images. Conventional Snakes algorithm provides a good methodology to model the functional of ATM. To increase the computation speed to segment the ID mark regions, we introduce the Dynamic Programming based algorithm. Experimental results using images from real FA environment are presented.

  • In this paper, the k-nearest templates method is proposed to combine multiple classifiers effectively. First, the method decomposes training samples of each class into several subclasses based on the outputs of classifiers to represent a class as multiple models, and estimates a localized template by averaging the outputs for each subclass. The distances between a test sample and templates are then calculated. Lastly, the test sample is assigned to the class that is most frequently represented among the k most similar templates. In this paper, C-means clustering algorithm is used as the decomposition method, and k is automatically chosen according to the intra-class compactness and inter-class separation of a given data set. Since the proposed method uses multiple models per class and refers to k models rather than matches with the most similar one, it could obtain stable and high accuracy. In this paper, experiments on UCI and ELENA database showed that the proposed method performed better than conventional fusion methods.

  • This paper describes a technique for human sensibility evaluation using personality-group templates of EEG(electroencephalogram). 10-channel EEGs of 5 extroverts and 5 introverts are collected in comfortable seat, uncomfortable seat and relaxed state. After preprocessing of EEG, the linear predictor coefficients are extracted and used as feature parameters. A neural network based sensibility classifier is designed and the output of the neural network is assumed as the sensibility index. Multiple templates of two personality-groups are stored and the most similar template can be selected by the proposed method. The proposed method showed the better performance than our previous results which have used ungrouped templates.

  • Fingerprint classification is useful in an automated fingerprint identification system (AFIS) to reduce the matching time by categorizing fingerprints. Based on Henry system that classifies fingerprints into S classes, various techniques such as neural networks and support vector machines (SVMs) have been widely used to classify fingerprints. Especially, SVMs of high classification performance have been actively investigated. Since the SVM is binary classifier, we propose a novel classifier-combination model, multiple decision templates (MuDTs), to classily fingerprints. The method extracts several clusters of different characteristics from samples of a class and constructs a suitable combination model to overcome the restriction of the single model, which may be subject to the ambiguous images. With the experimental results of the proposed on the FingerCodes extracted from NIST Database4 for the five-class and four-class problems, we have achieved a classification accuracy of $90.4\%\;and\;94.9\%\;with\;1.8\%$ rejection, respectively.

Nonlinear Anisotropic Filtering with Considering of Various Structures in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (자기공명영상에서 다양한 구조들을 고려한 비선형 이방성 필터링)

  • In this paper, a nonlinear anisotropic filtering method without the loss of important information happened due to the repeated filtering in magnetic resonance images is proposed. First of all original images are divided into four regions, e.g., SPR(Strong Plain Region), EPR(Easy Plain Region), SER(Strong Edge Region), and EER(Easy Edge Region). An optimal template among multiple templates is selected, then the nonlinear anisotropic filtering based on the template is applied in pixel by pixel basis. In the proposed algorithm, filtering strength of EER containing important information is adjusted very weak and filtering strength for remaining regions is also adjusted according to the degree of the importance. In spite of repeated filtering, resulting images by the proposed method could still preserve anatomy information of original images without any degradation. Compared to the existing nonlinear anisotropic filtering, the proposed filtering method with multiple templates provides higher reliability for filtered images.

  • 지문을 5가지 클래스로 나누는 헨리시스템을 기반으로 신경망이나 SVM(Support Vector Machines) 등과 같은 다양한 패턴분류 기법들이 지문분류에 많이 사용되고 있다. 특히 최근에는 높은 분류 성능을 보이는 SVM 분류기의 결합을 이용한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 지문은 클래스 구분이 모호한 영상이 많아서 단일결합모델로는 분류에 한계가 있다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 새로운 분류기 결합모델인 다중결정템플릿(Multiple Decision Templates, MuDTs)을 제안한다. 이 방법은 하나의 지문클래스로부터 서로 다른 특성을 갖는 클러스터들을 추출하여 각 클러스터에 적합한 결합모델을 생성한다. NIST-database4 데이터로부터 추출한 핑거코드에 대해 실험한 결과. 5클래스와 4클래스 분류문제에 대하여 각각 $90.4\%$$94.9\%$의 분류성능(거부율 $1.8\%$)을 획득하였다.

  • The measurement in the manufacturing process of curved ship hull plates still depends on wooden templates as a standard instrument. The metrology-enabled automation in the shipbuilding process has been challenged instead of line measurement with wooden templates. The developed measurement system consists of a CCD camera, multiple structured laser sources and 3-DOF motion device. The system carries out measurement of curved profiles for large scale plates by an optical triangulation method. The results of experiment conducted in a manufacturing shop demonstrate the accurate and robust performance.
