  • We propose a new method to deal with the optimized auto-tuning for the PID controller which is used to the process -control in various fields. First of all, in this method, initial values of DC motor are determined by the Ziegler-Nichols method. Finally, after studying the parameters of PID controller by input vector of multiple regression analysis, when we give new K, L, T values to multiple regression model, the optimized parameters of PID controller is found by multiple regression analysis program.

  • Authors made an experiment to know the relation of surface doses and multiple factors of exposure by using grids, fields, tube voltages objects and distances and obtained the results as follows: 1. Surface doses were increased in proportion to the thickness of objects. 2. Surface doses were more influenced when irradiated fields were small and tube voltages were low. 3. Surface doses were a logarthmic proportion to the focus-object distance. 4. Multiple factors of exposure by using grid were under the control of the thickness of objects, irradiated fields and tube voltages but the relation of them were not fixed.

  • In this paper, we propose a new 3D modeling and rendering system using multiple stereo cameras. When target objects are captured by cameras, each capturing PC segments the objects and estimates disparity fields, then they transmit the segmented masks, disparity fields, and color textures of objects to a 3D modeling server. The modeling server generates 3D models of the objects from the gathered masks and disparity fields. Finally, the server generates a video at the designated point of view with the 3D model and texture information from cameras.

  • We present an electroporation and viability monitoring chip for lung cancer cells in a single channel with multiple electric field zones. Previous electroporation chips utilized multiple microchannels or electrodes to form multiple electric fields, thus resulting in complex structures. However, the present chip can generate multiple electric fields in a single stepwise microchannel between a pair of electrodes, thus achieving the analysis of both cell electroporation and viability with a simple structure. We demonstrate that the electric field of 0.4 kV/cm results in a maximum percentage of $51.4{\pm}3.0%$ and $26.6{\pm}0.7%$ of viable and electroporated human lung cancer cells, H23 and A549, respectively. The present chip has potential for use in integrated cell chips for transfection studies.

  • We examine theoretically the properties of the force on Mie particles induced by evanescent fields at a system of multilayer films (including a metal film), at which the surface plasmon resonance is excited by a p-polarized plane electromagnetic wave. An expression of the surface plasmon-coupled evanescent fields produced in Kretschmann (or Sarid) geometry is expanded in terms of vector spherical wave functions, while multiple reflections between the Mie particle and the metal boundary are taken into account. The Cartesian components of the force on Mie particles by the evanescent fields are analytically formulated and numerically evaluated. The force components are increased by one or two orders of magnitude at metal boundaries over those at dielectric boundaries. As a result, we can confirm the possibility of stable manipulation or rotation of a finite-sized object by forces of surface plasmon-coupled evanescent fields.

  • The effective elastic properties of materials containing spherical inclusions were calculated by the elastic wave scattering theory. In the formulation additional scattering fields by the presence of random multiple scatterers that affects the effective properties were found by the single scattering approximation. In calculating the scattering fields the ensemble average on the displacements and strains inside the scatterer was found from the static approximation at long wavelength limit. The displacements were assumed to be equal to the incident field, while the strains were calculated by Eshelby's equivalent inclusion principle on the single inclusion problem. Four different models were considered and they reflected different degrees of multiple scattering effects based on the approximation introduced in the process of embedding the inclusion in the matrix. The expressions for the effective elastic constants were given in each model, and their relations to the results obtained from other scattering theory and elasticity theory were discussed. The theoretical predictions were compared with experimental results on the epoxy matrix composites containing tungsten particles of different sizes and volume fractions

  • In the field of plant maintenance, data that are gathered by sensors on multiple machines are handled and analyzed. Online or pseudo online data handling is required on such fields. When the data occurrence speed exceeds the data handling speed, multiple data should be handled at a time (batch data handling or pseudo online data handling). If l amount of data are received at one time following N amount of data, how to estimate the new parameters effectively is a great concern. A new simplified calculation method, which calculates the N data's weights, is introduced. Numerical examples show that this new method has a fairly god estimation accuracy and the calculation time is less than 1/10 compared with the case when the whole data are re-calculated. Even under the restriction calculation ability in the apparatus is limited, this proposed method makes the failure detection of equipments possible in early stages with a few new coming data. This method would be applicable in many data handling fields.

  • Combinations of visible and near-infrared (NIR) bands in an image are widely used for estimating vegetation vigor and productivity. Using this approach to understand within-field grain crop variability could allow pre-harvest estimates of yield, and might enable mapping of yield variations without use of a combine yield monitor. The objective of this study was to estimate within-field variations in crop yield using vegetation indices derived from hyperspectral images. Hyperspectral images were acquired using an aerial sensor on multiple dates during the 2003 and 2004 cropping seasons for corn and soybean fields in central Missouri. Vegetation indices, including intensity normalized red (NR), intensity normalized green (NG), normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), green NDVI (gNDVI), and soil-adjusted vegetation index (SAVI), were derived from the images using wavelengths from 440 nm to 850 nm, with bands selected using an iterative procedure. Accuracy of yield estimation models based on these vegetation indices was assessed by comparison with combine yield monitor data. In 2003, late-season NG provided the best estimation of both corn $(r^2\;=\;0.632)$ and soybean $(r^2\;=\;0.467)$ yields. Stepwise multiple linear regression using multiple hyperspectral bands was also used to estimate yield, and explained similar amounts of yield variation. Corn yield variability was better modeled than was soybean yield variability. Remote sensing was better able to estimate yields in the 2003 season when crop growth was limited by water availability, especially on drought-prone portions of the fields. In 2004, when timely rains during the growing season provided adequate moisture across entire fields and yield variability was less, remote sensing estimates of yield were much poorer $(r^2<0.3)$.

  • We suggest new 2D two-way Parabolic equation algorithm for multiple scattering. Our method is based on the successive performance of the single scattering approach. First. as the single scattering algorithm, the reflected and transmitted fields are calculated at the vertical interface of a range independent sector. Then. the reflected field is saved and the transmitted field Propagated to the next vertical interface with the split-step Pade method. After one step ends, the same Process is repeatedly performed with the change of the Propagation direction until the reflected field at the vertical interface is close to zero. Final incoming and outgoing fields are obtained as the sum of the wave fields obtained for each step. Our algorithm is relatively simple for the numerical implementation and requires less computational resources than the existing algorithm for multiple scattering

  • The inversion of radiation field distribution is of great significance in the decommissioning sites of nuclear facilities. However, the radiation fields often contain multiple mixtures of radionuclides, making the inversion extremely difficult and posing a huge challenge. Many radiation field reconstruction methods, such as Kriging algorithm and neural network, can not solve this problem perfectly. To address this issue, this paper proposes an optimized inverse distance weighted (IDW) interpolation algorithm for reconstructing the gamma radiation field. The algorithm corrects the difference between the experimental and simulated scenarios, and the data is preprocessed with normalization to improve accuracy. The experiment involves setting up gamma radiation fields of three Co-60 radioactive sources and verifying them by using the optimized IDW algorithm. The results show that the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of the reconstruction result obtained by using the optimized IDW algorithm is 16.0%, which is significantly better than the results obtained by using the Kriging method. Importantly, the optimized IDW algorithm is suitable for radiation scenarios with multiple radioactive sources, providing an effective method for obtaining radiation field distribution in nuclear facility decommissioning engineering.
