  • Increasing demand for increasing higher data rate in order to solve computationally tasks timely and connecting many user equipment simultaneously have requested researchers to develop novel technology in the area of mobile communications. Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) have been enabling technologies for commercialization of the fifth generation (5G) networks and the sixth generation (6G) systems. In this paper, we investigate a bit-error rate (BER) analysis on IRS technologies for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems. First, we derive a BER expression for IRS-NOMA systems with Rician fading channels. Then, we validate the BER expression by Monte Carlo simulations, and show numerically that BER expressions are in good agreement with simulations. Moreover, we investigate the BER of IRS-NOMA systems with Rician fading channels for various numbers of IRS elements, and show that the BERs improve as the number of IRS elements increases.

  • This paper proposed a novel method for an analysis feature of an Electroencephalogram (EEG) at all channels simultaneously. In a BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) system, EEGs are used to control a machine or computer. The EEG signals were weak to noise and had low spatial resolution because they were acquired by a non-invasive method involving, attaching electrodes along with scalp. This made it difficult to analyze the whole channel of EEG signals. And the previous method could not analyze multiple stimuli, the result being that the BCI system could not react to multiple orders. The method proposed in this paper made it possible analyze multiple-stimuli by grouping the channels. We searched the groups making the largest correlation coefficient summation of every member of the group with a BHS (Binary Harmony Search) algorithm. Then we assumed the EEG signal could be written in linear summation of groups using concentration parameters. In order to verify this assumption, we performed a simulation of three subjects, 60 times per person. From the simulation, we could obtain the groups of EEG signals. We also established the types of stimulus from the concentration coefficient. Consequently, we concluded that the signal could be divided into several groups. Furthermore, we could analyze the EEG in a new way with concentration coefficients from the EEG channel grouping.

  • ENS-2 simulator is the most widely-used simulator in the research of wired/wireless communication. Since an IEEE 802.11 module has been implemented in NS-2. much research using this module has been done for various MAC layer functions. The most important problem in terms of performance is the hidden terminal problem. To solve this problem, the solutions using a busy-tone such as BTMA, DBTMA, etc. have been proposed. In order to be able to use a busy-tone, channels using the frequency bandwidth except the frequency bandwidth of the data channel is required for the collision prevention, and a MAC layer has to be able to menage such multiple channels. In this research, we implement a module that can use a busy-tone in NS-2, implement a modified RI-BTMA by applying the implemented module, and verify its performance.

  • In wireless communication networks, single-radio single-channel architecture degrades throughput and end-to-end delay due to half-duplex transmission of wireless node and route intra interference. Also, In contention-based MAC (Medium Access Control) architecture, channel contention reduces throughput and packet collision enlarges end-to-end delay. In this paper, we use multi-radio multi-channel architecture which will make wireless node to operate in full duplex mode, and exclude route intra interference. Based on this architecture, we propose a new link metric, ccf which reflects the characteristics of a contention-based wireless link, and propose a routing path metric MCCR considering channel switching delay and route intra interference. MCCR is compared with MCR by simulation, the performance of a route established by MCCR outperforms the performance of a route by MCR in terms of throughput and end-to-end delay.

  • As the damage caused by GPS jamming has been increased, researches for detecting and preventing GPS jamming is being actively studied. This paper deals with a GPS jamming detection method using multiple GPS receiving channels and three-types machine learning techniques. Proposed multiple GPS channels consist of commercial GPS receiver with no anti-jamming function, receiver with just anti-noise jamming function and receiver with anti-noise and anti-spoofing jamming function. This system enables user to identify the characteristics of the jamming signals by comparing the coordinates received at each receiver. In this paper, The five types of jamming signals with different signal characteristics were entered to the system and three kinds of machine learning methods(AB: Adaptive Boosting, SVM: Support Vector Machine, DT: Decision Tree) were applied to perform jamming detection test. The results showed that the DT technique has the best performance with a detection rate of 96.9% when the single machine learning technique was applied. And it is confirmed that DT technique is more effective for GPS jamming detection than the binary classifier techniques because it has low ambiguity and simple hardware. It was also confirmed that SVM could be used only if additional solutions to ambiguity problem are applied.

  • In this paper, we investigate the degrees of freedom (DoF) of a two-cluster multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multiway relay interference channel (mRIC), where there are two relays and two users per cluster. In this channel, users within the same cluster exchange messages among themselves with the help of two relays. We first obtain the DoF upper bound of the considered MIMO mRIC based on cut-set bound. Then, we propose a novel transmission strategy, blind interference neutralization (BIN), to approach the DoF upper bound. This new method utilizes the overheard information at two relays and focuses on the beamforming matrix designs at two relays so that the channel state information (CSI) at users is not required. Through theoretical analysis and numerical simulations, we show that the DoF upper bound can be obtained by using the BIN scheme. From simulation results, we show that the proposed BIN scheme can provide significant performance gain over the conventional time division multiple access (TDMA) scheme in terms of DoF. In addition, we show that the BIN scheme is a superior approach to the existing signal space alignment (SSA) schemes for the considered mRIC.

  • In this paper, we address the problem of designing multirate codes for a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system by restricting the receiver to be a successive decoding and interference cancellation type, when each of the antennas is encoded independently. Furthermore, it is assumed that the receiver knows the instantaneous fading channel states but the transmitter does not have access to them. It is well known that, in theory, minimummean- square error (MMSE) based successive decoding of multiple access (in multi-user communications) and MIMO channels achieves the total channel capacity. However, for this scheme to perform optimally, the optimal rates of each antenna (per-antenna rates) must be known at the transmitter. We show that the optimal per-antenna rates at the transmitter can be estimated using only the statistical characteristics of the MIMO channel in time-varying Rayleigh MIMO channel environments. Based on the results, multirate codes are designed using punctured turbo codes for a horizontal codedMIMOsystem. Simulation results show performances within about one to two dBs of MIMO channel capacity.

  • Up to now, many state-of-arts have been proposed for two-way relaying system with linear modulations. The performances of antenna selection (AS) at both transmit and relay nodes need to be investigated in some two-way relaying multiple-input multiple-output (TWRM) systems. In this paper, the goal is focused on the study of nonlinear modulations, i.e., continuous phase modulation (CPM) in TWRM systems. Firstly, the joint phase trellis are simplified by reversed Rimoldi processing so as to reduce the systems' complexity. Then the performances of joint transmit and receive antenna selection (JTRAS) with CPM modulations in two-way relaying MIMO systems are analyzed. More exactly, the pair wise probability (PEP) is used to evaluate the error performance based on the CPM signal matrix, which is calculated in terms of Laurent expression. Since the channels subject to two terminal nodes share common antennas at relay node R in multiple-access scheme, we revise the JTRAS algorithm and compare it to existing algorithm via simulation. Finally, the error performances for various schemes of antenna selection are simulated and compared to the analysis in this paper.

  • Digital watermarking provides electronic means for proving the copyrights of distributed digital media copies. Research on digital watermarking for images is recently directed toward that for color images extensively used in real life, based on the substantial results in digital watermarking for gray-scale images. Color images have multiple channels, each of which corresponds to a gray-scale image. While there are some watermarking techniques for color images that just apply those for gray-scale images to one channel of the color images, the correlation characteristics between the channels are not considered in them. This paper proposes a zero-watermarking technique that makes keys via combining an image dependent watermark, created through comparing two channels of the color image and copyright watermark scrambled. Due to zero-watermarking, it does not change anything of cover(host) images. Watermark images are robust against some common attacks such as sharpening, blurring, JPEG lossy compression, scaling, and cropping.

  • The number of channels specified in IEEE 802.15.4 Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area Networks(LRWPANs) is too few to operate many applications of WPANs in the same area. To overcome this limit, we introduce Virtual Channel, a novel concept to increase the number of available channels when various WPAN applications coexist. Basically, a virtual channel is a newly-created channel via superframe scheduling within the inactive period of a logical channel preoccupied by other WPANs. To maximize the coexistence capability of WPANs using virtual channels, we propose Least Collision superframe scheduler(LC-scheduler), its less complex heuristics both for a given single channel, and Virtual Channel Selector(VCS) to efficiently manage multiple available logical channels. In addition, a simple but practical synchronization method is developed to compensate different time drifts among coexisting WPANs. The simulation results demonstrate that a remarkable improvement on the coexistence capability of the 802.15.4 can be achieved through the proposed schemes.
