The Customer Premise Platform for Processing Multimedia Data on the ATM network (ATM망의 멀티미디어 데이터 처리를 위한 가입자단 플랫폼)

  • In this paper, we propose a customer premise platform for processing multimedia data service on the ATM network. The proposed platform has a specific AAL2 processor that includes AAL2 protocol and scheduler algorithm so as to off-load large potion of burden from host processor and make it easy to process multimedia data from the ATM network in real time compared with conventional platform in which AAL/ATM tasks are processed by software. The ATS scheduler that is implemented based on 2-level time slot ring provides a simple and efficient method for scheduling data of VBR-rt, UBR and CBR traffics. TMS320C5402 DSP is used to process voice-related tasks such as voice compression and voice packet manupulation and AAL2 processor is implemented on $0.35\;{\mu}m$ process line. We implemented the customer premise equipment for VoDSL service and tested the proposed platform on a test bed network. The experimental results show that the proposed equipment has the call success rate of $97\%$ at least and provides voice service of toll-qualify.

  • In this paper, we designed an embedded audio video bridging (AVB) platform based on IEEE 802.1BA for real-time multimedia transmission in smart-car, smart-home, smart-theater, and then evaluated a performance of the implemented platform by analysis of IEEE 802.1AS (time synchronization protocol) and IEEE 802.1Qat (stream reservation protocol). Especially, the AVB Layer-2 protocol of MRP(Multiple Registration Protocol), MMAP(Multicast Address Acquisition Protocol), IEEE 1722, 1722.1 etc. was and implemented by linux based operating system. It is shown by interoperability tests with commercial products that the implemented platform transmits real-time multichannel AV data over AVB networks for Multichannel Multimedia Transmission.

  • In-vehicle multimedia systems are one of the most important factors in the automotive industry. Especially, multimedia systems are more important in advanced commercial vehicles such as premium express buses. In this paper, we proposed a multimedia streaming system architecture using MEP(MOST Ethernet Packets) for premium express buses based on MOST150. We have designed and implemented the prototype of proposed multimedia streaming system. We have designed a board based on i.MX6 to operate a proposed multimedia streaming system. The software has designed a multimedia system for premium express buses based on Android which is an open source platform. MOST(Media Oriented Systems Transport) is a high-speed multimedia network technology for in-vehicle multimedia system. The MOST network is able to manage up to 64 devices and ring topology is used basically. In addition, the MOST Network meets EMI(Electro-Magnetic Interference)/ EMC(Electro-Magnetic Compatibility) requirements because it uses plastic optical fibers(POF).

  • The Digital Multimedia Broadcasting(DMB) system is developed to offer high quality audio-visual multimedia contents to the uses by the various portable terminals in the mobile environment. Integrated complex reception platform is required to receive multimedia broadcasting services transmitted from various transmission media. In this paper, we present the design and implementation technic for providing the both of terrestrial and satellite DMB services simultaneously using the same hardware platform. The implemented complex receiving terminal to accommodate these DMB services simultaneously need composed of it RF module. it baseband module, it complex control module and the complex de-multiplexer module. The complex control module is designed using uClinux operating system. The complex de-multiplexer, which perform the functions of the address decoder and each DMB stream de-multiplexer, is implemented. with FPGA device. The implemented platform is tested in a real environment and its performance is satisfied with required performance criteria.

  • Smart Factory is a part of and a key point of the 4th industrial revolution. It performs optimization from the whole viewpoint, using comprehensive data of the post-process data by utilizing various sensors, controllers, and mobile devices beyond the existing factory automation level. In this paper, we design and implement an IoT platform that can detect the safety factors of the workers, the environmental factors of the factory, and real time monitoring at the control center, among the fields to implement smart factory. To accomplish this, we construct a monitoring device that provides sensor information control, server transmission of sensor information, and visualization of collected information. By using this system, it is possible to maintain the temperature and humidity for the optimum working environment in the factory. and also, By using the beacon, it is possible to measure the working time of the worker and trace the position.

  • We firstly tried to understand consumers' purchasing tendencies and mainly focused on designing a platform model that offers integrated support. C2B (Customer to Business) orders integrate with a consumption platform of a B2C (Business to Customer) model, and integrated support aims at design, supply, processing, and distribution of a fashion business. All the information such as orders, sales, production, supply, and settlement of accounts is synchronized under the C2B, B2C, and O2O (Online to Offline) environment so that accurate information can be shared in real time. Our platform automatically handles with a net income of a product designer, manufacturer, and shipping company once shipping is confirmed.

Non-contact Palmprint Attendance System on PC Platform

  • In order to overcome the problems of contact palmprint recognition, a non-contact palmprint recognition system is developed on personal computer (PC) platform. Three methods, namely "double-line-single-point" (DLSP), "double-assistant-crosshair" (DAC) and "none-assistant-graphic" (NAG), are implemented for the palmprint localization to solve the severe technical challenges, including the complex background, variant illuminations, uncontrollable locations and gestures of hands. In NAG, hand segmentation and the cropping of region of interest are performed without any assistant graphics. The convex hull contour of hand helps detect the outside contour of little finger as well as the valley bottom between thumb and index finger. The three methods of palmprint localization have good operating efficiency and can meet the performance requirements of real-time system. Furthermore, an attendance system on PC platform is designed and developed based on non-contact palmprint recognition.

  • The 21st century will see the formation of a“Cyber society”that, while separate form the real world, will cooperate with it, leading to the further expansion and development of world society. Cyber society allows the formation of virtual space through the connection of multiple computers in a network. In this virtual space, multiple users can communicate with each other and can collect and exchange information while moving about freely and engaging in activities. Three main technologies are vital to the construction of the Cyber society: platform technology for converting multimedia information to optical signals and performing digital processing and communication processing on such signals; communications network technology for transferring these signals from one point to another; and application technology for configuring the Cyber society that will be formed on this network. This paper describes platform technology and network technology with an emphasis on their relationship to application technology for configuring the Cyber society, and will also discuss InterSpace, one of the cyber society platform system of the Cyber society.

  • Currently Spatial Data is collected and processed in various methods, and its usability is very high. However, the existing Spatial Data analysis Software usually requires professional knowledge in the collection, refinement, and application of spatial Date, making it difficult to access and apply it. Therefore, this study established a new WebGIS platform with improved accessibility and usability to solve these problems. This platform supports various services such as master map sharing, spatial data generation, automatic coordinate system conversion, WMS issuance, grid generation, and grid analysis. These services increase operational convenience, such as simplifying repetitive tasks and automatically expressing text files. While it is believed that non-experts can easily and conveniently because of them to simplify and express the results. In addition, it is judged to have high accuracy and reliability compared to the analysis results using the existing Open Source-based GIS software.

Virtual Prototyping of Area-Based Fast Image Stitching Algorithm

  • This work presents a virtual prototyping design approach for an area-based image stitching hardware. The virtual hardware obtained from virtual prototyping is equivalent to the conceptual algorithm, yet the conceptual blocks are linked to the actual circuit components including the memory, logic gates, and arithmetic units. Through the proposed method, the overall structure, size, and computation speed of the actual hardware can be estimated in the early design stage. As a result, the optimized virtual hardware facilitates the hardware implementation by eliminating trail design and redundant simulation steps to optimize the hardware performance. In order to verify the feasibility of the proposed method, the virtual hardware of an image stitching platform has been realized, where it required 10,522,368 clock cycles to stitch two $1280{\times}1024$ sized images. Furthermore, with a clock frequency of 250MHz, the estimated computation time of the proposed virtual hardware is 0.877sec, which is 10x faster than the software-based image stitch platform using MATLAB.
