A Study on New Gameplay Based on Brain-Computer Interface (BCI 기반의 새로운 게임 플레이 연구)

  • BCI (Brain-Computer Interface) is a way to control computer by using the human brain waves. As the hardware using brain wave technologies has developed, former expensive and big sized brain wave measuring devices have recently become much smaller and cheaper in their prices, making it possible for the individuals to buy them. This predicts them to be applied in various fields of multimedia industry. This thesis is to give an insight into whether the BCI device can be used as a new gaming device approaching it in a game designing point of view. At first, we propose game play elements that can effectively utilizing the BCI devices and produce a game prototype adopting the BCI device based on such game play elements. Next, we verify it with statistical data analysis to show that the prototype adopting the BCI device gives more clear and efficient controls in its game play than a game of only adopting keyboard & mouse devices. The results will give a guideline for effective game design methodology for making BCI based games.

A Study of Game Project Curriculum for Integrated Subject (통합교과로서의 게임 프로젝트 교육과정 운영방안 탐구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest an curriculum model of teaching scheme which performs team project learning based on Integrated project with different fields. To address this goal, the present study suggests a practical game project model under the same game-making circumstances as game industry by consisting of real case of convergence parts(game graphic, game design, game program). This project-based learning case has been conducting Integrated project education since 2008 in A educational Institute in Korea. The results of study suggest a standard of Integrated-based curriculum model and it is constructed with two parts. The first part is what students learned during project processing, such as responsibility, communication. The other part is how to construct the educational environment for integrated project. It explains how to organize and build teams, plan of integrated project, rule the role of team task, perform collaborative task, present interim/final presentation, evaluate grade. This study is expected to be utilized as a framework for the instructional design and the guideline for improving learner competency in team project learning.

  • In this paper, we describe the smart metal casting processing management system, in which we applied case-based reasoning on the window environment. Metal casting is one of the most common casting processes. The metal casting processing is complex and variable depends on a kind of metal casting products. Especially, the metal casting industry has a feature which produces small quantities but produces a lot of different types of metal casting products. And we developed the smart metal casting processing management system which could show the processing route according to the product cases intelligently using the result of case-based reasoning. The experimental result shows that our metal casting processing management system schemes achieves more productivity than manual management schemes.

  • Future education for engineering should focus on the teaching of fundamentals, creativity cultivated through various experimental educational programs, and industry-related practices. This study presents the development of the LOD system and a contents production of the experimental courses in engineering in accordance with paradigm change. In this study, considerations and design plan for developing LOD system are discussed and they are applied to the contents production of the experimental course in engineering. The results of this study help to teach the experimental courses completely, providing the course supplements and the multimedia data required in the experimental courses, and to promote and conduct the student's projects. This study can also anticipate an image of the future university and present the direction where the university should follow in the future.

  • In this paper, we propose the progressed interworking method between H.323 and SlP, then explain the improved property. The VolP(Voice over Internet Protocol) technology which is able to use a voice service through internet is more cheaper then existing telephone charges, and is easil)· accept the various of multimedia services from internet. Previous connectionmethod of VoIP used H.323 protocol, but it is very complex to connection establishment. so, the SIP(Session Initiation Protocol) protocol that propose in SIP-Working Group is in use recently. Therefore, we need new interworking methodology between H.323 and SIP Products. In this thesis, the progress interworking method between H.323 and SIP are Propose, then interpret unnecessary packet delay for call setup and improved feature of message exchange.

  • Telecommunication network has been constructed and developed to provide voice. data, and simple image communication service in accordance with the demand increase and the various service tendency according to the growth of social economy It is expected that various multimedia services are transmitted and received through a telecommunication media. First of all, for the sake of realization of these schemes in house, it is essential to make the customer premises networks to be higher level. Especially, the demand increment of customer services and the improvement of technology would be expected to be a result of a main-stream strategic industry. This paper briefly describes investigation results concerning technical development and standardization trends of advanced nation, and introduce technical development and standardization plan which the Government is presently carrying out. We also proposes the schedule of technical development and standardization plan related to international standard.

  • Today, as various access technologies appear, for example WiMax, WiBro, the demand for spectrum is increasing rapidly. Spectrums are a national resource with scarcity value so that we need to a]locate them effectively for the national economy and industry. Accordingly, In the paper, we proposed several factors and new model for estimating spectrum requirements of a next generation mobile network with multimedia data services. These are self-similarity characteristics of data traffic, engineered capacity considering QoS, structure of FA increase, asymmetry of data traffic between uplink and downlink, handoff traffic, and uneven traffic pattern among base stations. It can applied mobile WiMax or other wireless broadband systems in general.

  • Three-dimensional multimedia industry such as 3D TV, movie and broadcast has been developed vividly. For generating 3D contents with high quality, virtual auditory display, so called VAD, is being researched to offer more realistic experience to listeners. When people render VAD using headphones or two speakers, head-related transfer function(HRTF) plays a key role. The best solution is measuring all individuals' HRTFs, but it is hard to measure all listeners' HRTFs. To overcome this difficulty, many research groups have tried to construct their own measurement system and to build HRTF databases. However, some of them have not enough subjects or spatial resolution and they are mainly focused on Caucasian. There exists difference between Korean and Caucasian in a view of physical features. In other words, if Koreans hear three-dimensional sound rendered by HRTF database based on Caucasian, performance might be hindered. To verify this possibility and remedy the drawbacks, construction of new HRTF database aimed at Korean is needed. Therefore, our laboratory built HRTF measurement system which can measure HRTF of three-dimensional space with dense spatial resolution. With this system, 55 Korean males and 45 females' HRTFs were measured and Korean HRTF database was built based on these data.

Development of a High Performance Web Server Using A Real-Time Compression Architecture (실시간 압축 전송 아키텍쳐를 이용한 고성능 웹 서버 구현)

  • In these days, such services are popularized as E-commerce, E-government, multimedia services, and home networking applications. Most web traffics generated contemporarily basically use the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol(HTTP). Unfortunately, the HTTP is improper for these applications that comprise significant components of the web traffics. In this paper, we introduce a real-time contents compression architecture that maximizes the web service performance as well as reduces the response time. This architecture is built into the linux kernel-based web accelerating module. It guarantees not only the freshness of compressed contents but also the minimum time delay using an server-state adaptive algorithm, which can determine whether the server sends the compressed message considering the consumption of server resources when heavy requests reach the web server Also, We minimize the CPU overhead of the web server by exclusively implementing the compression kernel-thread. The testing results validates that this architecture saves the bandwidth of the web server and that elapsed time improvement is dramatic.

  • Smart devices have made our daily life more intelligent and provided convenient life styles in which advanced interface and high speed LTE enable us to have proliferation of empirical Apps. This research has analyzed and evaluated Unstructured data from the users who experienced 'Hair Style Magic Mirror App' by focusing on emotional information. Further this study suggests some directions that the application development industry should take in the near future. The findings through Chi-Square analysis indicate that the application has not affected the overall satisfaction of the consumers; consumers received higher satisfaction in paid version of applications than free versions. Emotional Information analysis shows that users value the practicality of each application the most. Thus, the application developers should focus on practicality and sensitivity side corresponding to the demand of consumers.
