청소년의 다문화 인식과 다문화효능감 (Perceptions and Efficacy of the Multiculture Among Adolescents)

  • This study performed to develop a basic framework of adolescent's perceptions about multicultural families, the children of multicultural families, the impacts of cultural exchange on cultural diversity, and multicultural efficacy. The participants were 368 students from four high schools in the Seoul area. The data were analysyed by ANOVA, Duncan-test, and multiple regression. The results revealed significant differences; perceptions of the multicultural family was the highest among those who believed the perceptions would increase, while the lowest among those believing to decrease. Perceptions of multicultural efficacy showed significant differences in thought about education for understanding other country people, the multi media experiences of multicultural families, knowledge about the multiculture, and thought about an increasing number of multicultural families. There were significant correlations among perceptions about the multicultural family, the children in the multicultural family, the impacts of cultural exchange on cultural diversity, and efficacy of the multicultural environment.

입원 환아 어머니의 불안에 관한 연구: 한국인 어머니와 다문화가정 어머니 비교를 중심으로 (A study anxiety of mothers who have hospitalized ill children Focusing on the comparison of korean mothers with multicultural family mothers)

  • 본 연구는 환아의 입원으로 인한 한국인 어머니와 다문화가정 어머니의 불안 정도를 파악하여 입원으로 인해 발생하는 불안을 감소시키고 환경에 적응하기 위한 프로그램을 개발하는데 기초 자료를 마련하고자 시도되었다. 연구대상자는 대전 소재의 K대학병원 소아과에 입원한 다문화가정 어머니, 한국인 어머니 각 100명 총 200명이며, 자료수집기간은 2010년 8월 1일부터 31일까지였다. 연구도구로는 Sielberger(1972)의 STAI를 한국인에 맞게 번역한 김정택 (1978)의 측정도구를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS WIN 12.0을 이용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 한국인 어머니와 다문화가정 어머니의 상태불안 정도는 한국인 어머니의 경우 2.11,다문화 가정 어머니의 경우 2.17, 기질불안 정도는 한국인 어머니의 경우 2.09, 다문화 가정 어머니의 경우 1.94로 나타났다. 입원 환아 한국인 어머니와 다문화가정 어머니의 불안을 비교해 본 결과 상태불안과 기질불안 모두에서 집단간 차이가 확인되지 않았다. 불안상황에서 한국어머니와 다문화가정 어머니 둘 다 처치나 치료에 대한 설명이 없을 때 심한 불안을 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 환아의 일반적 특성에 따른 어머니의 불안 정도는 한국인 어머니 환아의 경우 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었으며, 다문화가정 어머니 환아의 경우 성별, 입원횟수에 따른 기질불안이(P<.05) 통계적으로 유의한 결과를 나타내었다. 환아 어머니의 일반적 특성에 따른 불안 정도는 한국인 어머니에서는 월평균수입 상태에 따른 상태불안이 유의한 차이를 보였으며(P<.05), 다문화가정 어머니에서는 검사방법을 인지하게 된 경로에서 기질불안이(P<.05) 유의한 차이가 있었다. 이상의 연구 결과를 통해서 환아 어머니의 인구사회학적 특성이 어떠하든지, 환아의 일반적 특성에 관계없이 자녀의 입원에 대해 대부분의 어머니의 경우에서 불안을 느낀다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 환아 어머니의 불안해소를 위한 간호가 적극적으로 계획되어 다양한 간호중재를 개발하여야 한다.

다문화 가정 유아 보육을 위한 발도르프 프로그램의 적용 가능성 탐구 (Research on the Applicability of Waldorf Program as Educare for Multicultural Family Children)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a qualitative investigation of the possibility that Waldorf education may help children in multicultural families to acclimate themselves to new surroundings in Korea. An educare institution that had adopted the Waldorf Program since 2005 was selected. The parents and teachers of 13 children with a multicultural background who had attended the educare institution were interviewed. The questions were focused on linguistic development, social relationships, and cultural identity in order to determine the differences and changes in the children before and after adaptation to the Waldorf Program. The summary of the results of this study is as follows. The Waldorf Program exerts a positive influence on linguistic development, the formulation of social relationships, and on the cultural identity of children from multicultural families.

아동이 지각한 부부갈등과 또래관계가 아동의 자기유능감에 미치는 영향: 다문화가정 아동과 일반가정 아동 비교 (Influence of Children's Perception of Interparental Conflict and Peer Relationship on Children's Self Competence: Comparison of Children from Multicultural Families and Korean Families)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in self competence between children from multicultural families and children from Korean families, and to study how interparental conflict and peer relationship influence the self competence of children. The subjects of the present study were 138 children of multicultural families and 254 children of Korean families in the 3rd or 4th grade in Seoul, Daegu, Gyeong-gi province, and Gyeong-buk province. The instruments of measurement were the Children's Perception of Interparental Conflict, Friendship and the Perceived Competence Scale for Children. Date were analyzed by independent samples T-test, MANCOVA, ANCOVA and multiple regression using the SPSS program. The results showed there was significant difference in the self competence of children between those from multicultural families and those from Korean families, but there was no significant difference when income was controlled. Second, for children of multicultural families, gender, income, and the intensity of interparental conflict had significant influence on self competence while gender, aid, conflict, and disclosure of negative affect in friendship, and being a peacemaker in interparental conflict influenced self competence significantly in the case of children of Korean families.

다문화 가정의 부모관계 및 학교 적응에 관한 연구 (Study of Multicultural Children's parent-child relationship quality and School Adjustment)

  • 본 연구는 다문화가정 아동의 부모-자녀 관계의 질과 학교적응을 이해하기 위해 일반가정 아동과의 차이를 비교하고, 부모-자녀관계의 질이 학교적응에 영향을 미치는지를 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 경기도 내에 초등학교에 재학 중이면서 기본적인 의사소통이 가능한 5-6학년 다문화가정 학생과 일반학생을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 다문화가정 학생의 집단이 다른 집단에 비해 아버지-자녀 관계의 질이 낮은 것으로 분석되었다. 이에 다문화교육에서 아버지의 역할 등 다문화가정 학생의 아버지에 대한 연구가 이루어져야 할 것이다. 또한 부모-자녀의 관계의 질이 다문화가정 학생의 학교적응에 유의하게 영향을 미친 것으로 보아 다문화가정 학생의 부모를 대상으로 학생 교육에 있어 실질적으로 도움을 줄 수 있는 다양한 교육프로그램이 제공된다면 다문화가정 학생들의 학교적응력이 더욱 향상될 것으로 판단된다.

An Effect of Multicultural Family Children's Self-Identity to School Adaptation

  • This study aims to analyze the causal relation between identity and school adaptation of multicultural family children, starting from necessity of empirical research considering insufficient preceding research. To achieve the purpose of the research, this study implemented empirical analysis regarding the causal relation between factors of self-identity and school adaptation. As a result, factors of self-identity implies significant effect on school regulations, while factors of school adaptation partially have an effect on school class and relations with a teacher and friend. Based on the result of verification, this study emphasizes teachers' effort as well as comprehensive and practical development of an educational program to help children from multicultural family establish the right self-identity for settling into school life. Moreover, the limitation of this study and future research direction is presented.

다문화 가정 대상 한국어 교육의 현황과 성과 (The Present State and Outcomes of Korean Language Education for Multicultural Family Members)

  • The aim of this paper is to briefly consider the present state regarding Korean language education for multicultural family members, and to consider the outcomes produced so far. Married woman immigrants and their children must be one of the most significant groups for Korean language education in terms of their huge number and their roles and meanings in Korean society. In order to uplift the Korean communicative ability for multicultural family members, an effective operating system for Korean language education is needed, and also live and efficient Korean language instruction must be given by capable Korean language teachers with adequate teaching materials. A customized Korean language education must also be offered based on researches about the characteristics of multicultural family members as "Korean language learners". Korean language education for married woman immigrants has almost been set up in some extent, in terms of teaching materials and the teacher training system. Therefore, an efficient operating system must be constructed so that the developed teaching materials can be actively utilized in the site of Korean language education. A periodical retraining of Korean language teachers for multicultural family members is also necessary for the improvement of Korean language teaching efficiency. However, Korean language education for multicultural children is still in its infancy due to its late start-up. By the support of the Korean government, the curriculum of Korean language education has recently been fixed, KSL text books are being developed, and a diagnostic tool for evaluating their Korean language ability is now in progress. Many continuing concerns and support must still be provided for the improvement of their Korean language ability and fostering them as competitive and capable of speaking Korean.

Factors Affecting Health Behaviors in Late School-aged Children from Multicultural Families

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate factors affecting health behaviors in late school-aged children from multicultural families. Methods: This study included 401 children (112 from multicultural families and 289 from non-multicultural backgrounds) in grades 4~6 in 11 elementary schools. Data on health behaviors and related factors (school adjustment, the mother-child relationship, self-efficacy, etc.) were collected from the children using self-reported questionnaires between May and June in 2019. The collected data were analyzed through a univariate analysis and multiple regression analysis. Results: The health behavior score of multicultural children was lower than that of non-multicultural children (t=3.32, p=.001). In multicultural children, school adjustment (β=.55, p<.001), mother-child relationship (β=.25, p=.001), and perceived health status (very healthy=1; β=.19, p=.011) were significant factors affecting their health behavior and explained 47.0% (F=30.93, p<.001) of the variance. Conclusion: Multicultural late school-aged children are at risk to engage in a lower level of health behaviors than their non-multicultural counterparts. More attention should be paid to ways of improving multicultural children's perceptions of their health status, maternal relationships, and school adjustment in order to promote health behaviors.

다문화 가정 아동의 학교생활적응 관련변인들 간의 관계구조분석 - 대구.경북지역을 중심으로 - (Structural Relationships among Variables Influencing Adjustment to School Life in Children from Multicultural Families - Daegu Gyeongbuk Area-)

  • This study investigated the structural relationships between parental attitude, social support, self-esteem, and levels of adjustment to school life of children from multicultural families. Participants were 177 elementary school children from multicultural families in 1st to 6th grade of elementary school in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk area of South Korea. The major findings were as follows. 1) Parenting attitude, social support, and self-esteem had direct effects on levels of children's adjustment to school life. 2) Parental attitudes and social support had direct effects on children's levels of self-esteem. 3) Parental attitudes and social support also had indirect effects on levels of adjustment to school life of these children. This study suggested that various concern and supports from multi level of society are required to improve adjustment to school life in children from multicultural families.

우리나라 다문화 가족 교육 및 복지정책의 개선방안 (Improvement of Multicultural Family Education and Welfare Policy in Korea)

  • 본 연구는 다문화 교육이 유치원과 같은 교육현장에만 국한되어서는 안된다는 것이다. 유아의 다문화적 태도와 의식은 무의식적으로 부모의 언행과 어린 시기 학교교육을 통해서 습득되기 때문에 가정과 유치원에서 다문화 교육을 실시할 것을 강조하였다. 즉, 다문화 교육은 단순히 교육현장에서만 이루어져서는 안되며, 유아들의 가정내의 교육도 동반되어야 하는 것이다. 그러나 아직까지 부모를 대상으로 한 다문화 교육에 관한 연구는 점무 한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 유아기 자녀를 둔 부모의 사회-경제적 지위, 다문화 교육에 대한 경험 여부에 따른 인식과 양육실제를 조사함으로써 다문화 교육에 관한 부모의 중요성을 부각시키고, 또한 부모를 위한 다문화 교육 및 복지에 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다.
