  • The aims of this research are to find the difference of space origination between Korean-Chinese and Chinese multi-family housing unit plan and to find the main reason to make this difference. To do this research, twenty three different kinds of floor plans were surveyed and examined. The results are as follows; 1. The Chinese-Korean floor plan and Chinese floor plan in Ondol heating system are totally different, although in radiator and floor panel heating system are similar. The inner space origination between two races are different. That is to say, Chinese-Korean likes open space origination and Chinese likes closed space origination. 2. The main reasons to make differences seem to be living style, heating system, constructional method and the trade with South Korea. In the future time, the usage of floor panel heating system will be increased and various kinds of floor plan should be introduced.

  • Handy paint rollers with simple or no patterns are generally used to transcribe its design to a wall just after painting. However, the types of the patterns are limited to several conventional ones, so that interior planners' or decorators' demands are gradually tending to getting attractive roller designs. In order to obtain abundant kinds of the roller designs, a new advanced 3D machining method should be established for cylindrical models. In this paper, a post-processor that can generate suitable NC data is proposed for multi-axis NC machine tools with a rotary unit. The 3D machining system with the post-processor is also presented for an attractive interior decorating. The machining system allows us to easily transcribe the relief designs from on a flat model to on a cylindrical model. The effectiveness of the proposed 3D machining system using the post-processor is demonstrated through some machining experiments.

  • In the multi-purpose lathe, the design of tilting turret slide system has an important and critical role to enhance the accuracy of the machining process. Tilting turret unit is traveled by 3-axis slide systems. There is a need to design this part very carefully. In this research, the 3-axis slide system with tilting turret unit is researched with two approaches; The first is that 3-axis slide system is modeled and simulated usig ADAMS software. The dynamic behavior of this system is visualized by data graphs and dynamic animations. The first step of virtual prototype which makes it possible to design economically and effectively is developed.

  • The synthesis of $C_{60}$@MWCNT was carried out at room temperature (${\sim}25^{\circ}C$) from arc-discharge prepared Multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). They were oxidized and acid treated for tube opening. Then $C_{60}$ molecules were encapsulated into MWCNTs by wetting them with $C_{60}$-toluene solution for several minutes followed by ultrasonification. $C_{60}$@MWCNT was cleaned by pure toluene to remove any excess $C_{60}$. $C_{60}$@MWCNT was characterized by electron microscopy, which showed large scale filling of $C_{60}$ into MWCNTs. It was observed that the mechanism of insertion of $C_{60}$ into MWCNTs may be due to the capillary suction at the opening ends of MWCNTs.

  • In multi-purpose lathe, the design of tilting turret slide system has an important and critical role to enhance accuracy of the machining process. Tilting turret unit is traveled by 3-axis slide systems. There is a need to design this part very carefully. In this research, 3-axis sliding system with tilting turret unit is modeled by considering the element dividing, material proprties, and boundary conditions with PATRAN. Normal mode and frequency analysis of each structures such as saddle, cared, and turret are simulated by NASTRAN, for the purpose of developing the effective design. The results of mode analysis and frequency analysis are visualized with PATRAN, and the design method which can solve the resornance problem by eigenvalues and eigenvectors of each axis is developed as well.

  • This paper proposes a new generation scheduling algorithm which can consider total quantity of contamination and energy limits based on Lagrangian Relaxation. First, we formulate a Lagrangian function which consider quantity of contamination including substitution of fuel, and quantity of fuel. Second, we developed Multi-state S.U.D.P. which can treat multiple fuels. Third, we propose an effective generation scheduling algorithm including Multi-state S.U.D.P.. As a results, unit commitment and generating power can be obtained to meet the environmental and fuel constraints with fuel substitution. By applying it to the test system, effectiveness of the method is verified.

  • MSC(Multi-Spectral Camera) which is a unique payload for KOMPSAT-2, comprises main three subsystems of PMU(Paylaod Management Unit), EOS(Electro -Optical Subsystem) and PDTS(Payload Data Transmission Subsystem). The PMU, as a main controller of MSC, performs major tasks such as interfacing with S/C(Space Craft), controlling the MSC operation, distributing and controlling of operating power to all MSC including thermal unit, etc. In this paper the H/W configurations as well as the functions of PMU are introduced and possible changes for the future development are suggested.

  • One of the important issues raised from the Fukushima-Daiichi accident is the safety of multi-unit sites when simultaneous accidents occur at the site and recently a multi-unit PSA methodology is being developed worldwide. Since all operation modes of the plant should be considered in the multi-unit PSA, the accident analysis needs to be performed for shutdown operation modes, too. In this study, a station blackout during the mid-loop operation is selected as a reference scenario. The overall accident progression for the mid-loop operation is slower than that for the full-power operation because the residual heat per mass of coolant is about 6 times lower than that in the mid-loop scenario. Though the fractions of Cs released from the core to the RCS in both operation modes are almost the same, the amount of Cs delivered to the containment atmosphere is quite different due to the chemisorption in the RCS. While 45.5% of the initial inventory is chemisorbed on the RCS surfaces during the full-power operation, only 2.2% during the mid-loop operation. The containment remains intact during the mid-loop operation, though 83.9% of Cs is delivered to the containment.

  • Deadlock is a situation in which two or more processes competing for resources are waiting for the others to finish, and neither ever does. There are two different forms of systems, multi-unit and single-unit resource systems. The difference is the number of instances (or units) of each type of resource. Deadlock problem can be modeled as a constrained combinatorial problem that seeks to find a possible scheduling for the processes through which the system can avoid entering a deadlock state. To solve deadlock problem, several algorithms and techniques have been introduced, but the use of metaheuristics is one of the powerful methods to solve it. Genetic algorithms have been effective in solving many optimization issues, including deadlock Problem. In this paper, an improved parallel framework of the genetic algorithm is introduced and adapted effectively and efficiently to deadlock problem. The proposed modified method is implemented in java and tested on a specific dataset. The experiment shows that proposed approach can produce optimal solutions in terms of burst time and the number of feasible solutions in each advanced generation. Further, the proposed approach enables all types of crossovers to work with high performance.
