The purpose of this study was to evaluate the microleakage of 5 current dentin bonding systems which are composed of 2 multi-bottle systems(Scotchbond Multi-Purpose, All Bond2) and 3 one-bottle systems(Single bond, One-Step, Prime & Bond). In this in vitro study, class V cavities were prepared on buccal and lingual surfaces of sixty extracted human premolars and molars on cementum margin. The experimental teeth were randomly divided into six groups of 10 samples (20 surfaces) each, Group 1 : Scotchbond Multi-Purpose ; Group 2 : All Bond 2 ; Group 3 : Single Bond ; Group 4 : One-Step ; Group 5 : Prime & Bond ; Group 6 : no bonding agent(control). The bonding agent and composite resin were applied for each group following the manufacturer's instructions. After 500 thermocycling between $5^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$, the 60 teeth were placed in 2% Methylene blue dye for 24 hours, then rinsed with tab water. The specimen were embedded in clear resin, then sectioned buccolingually through the center of restoration with a low speed diamond saw. The dye penetration on each of the specimen were then observed with a stereomicroscope at ${\times}20$. The results of study were statistically analyzed using the Student-Newmann-Keul's Methods and the Mann-Whitney Rank Sum Test. The resin/dentin interfaces were examined under Scanning Electron Microscopy. The results of this study were as follows. 1. None of the dentin bonding systems used in this study showed significant difference in leakage values at both the enamel and the dentin margins (P>0.05). 2. In all groups except the control, leakage value seen at the enamel margin was significantly lower than that seen at the dentin margin (P<0.05). 3. Compared to the control group, all the groups treated with dentin bonding systems showed significantly lower leakage value at both enamel and dentin margins (P<0.05). 4. In the SEM view, gaps were observed in the composite resin / dentin interface in group 6 where no dentin bonding agent was used, and in all the other groups (group 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) composite resin, hybrid layer, and dentin were seen to be closely adhering to each other where there were no leakages. Well-developed resin tags 3~100${\mu}m$ in length infiltrated dentinal tubules past the hybrid layer and a hybrid layer 1~5${\mu}m$ thick had developed between the dentinal surface and the composite resin surface.

Nuclear imaging is one of the most powerful measures for non-invasive diagnosis of myocardial vascular disease. Radionuclide such as 13N, 15O, 201Tl and 82Rb is used for the measurement of cardiac blood flow. 13N, 15O and 201Tl are produced in cyclotrons while 82Rb is obtained from generator. Rubidium (Rb), an alkali ion, behaves biologically like potassium, and accumulates in myocardial tissue. Rb has rapid blood clearance profile which allows the use of 82Rb with a short physical half-life of 75 s for non-invasive evaluation of regional myocardial perfusion. There are several advantages of 82Rb over other radioisotopes. An ultra-short half-life significantly reduces the exposure of patients to radiation and allows to repeat injections for studying the effects of medical intervention. As a positron emitter, 82Rb allows positron emission tomography (PET) imaging which have shown superior diagnostic performances. 82Rb can be produced from generator by decay of its parent 82Sr. However, the preparation of 82Sr is difficult, because appropriate purity is required to meet the specification of the product. Recently reported procedure from ARRONAX research institute showed that a Chelex-100 resin is sufficient for this purpose and additional column is not necessary. Whereas Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) procedure contains three ion exchange resin separation, including Chelex-100 resin. Currently, since 82Sr production site is non-existent in Korea, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) has plan to produce 82Sr within specifications. We compared 82Sr purification procedures reported from ARRONAX and BNL to investigate the most suitable procedure for our conditions.
Objectives: This study evaluated the influence of a multi-mode universal adhesive (MUA) containing silane (Single Bond Universal, 3M EPSE) on the bonding of resin cement to lithium disilicate. Materials and Methods: Thirty IPS e.max CAD specimens (Ivoclar Vivadent) were fabricated. The surfaces were treated as follows: Group A, adhesive that did not contain silane (ANS, Porcelain Bonding Resin, Bisco); Group B, silane (S) and ANS; Group C, hydrofluoric acid (HF), S, and ANS; Group D, MUA; Group E, HF and MUA. Dual-cure resin cement (NX3, Kerr) was applied and composite resin cylinders of 0.8 mm in diameter were placed on it before light polymerization. Bonded specimens were stored in water for 24 hours or underwent a 10,000 thermocycling process prior to microshear bond strength testing. The data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance (p < 0.05). Results: Bond strength varied significantly among the groups (p < 0.05), except for Groups A and D. Group C showed the highest initial bond strength ($27.1{\pm}6.9MPa$), followed by Group E, Group B, Group D, and Group A. Thermocycling significantly reduced bond strength in Groups B, C, and E (p < 0.05). Bond strength in Group C was the highest regardless of the storage conditions (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Surface treatment of lithium disilicate using HF and silane increased the bond strength of resin cement. However, after thermocycling, the silane in MUA did not help achieve durable bond strength between lithium disilicate and resin cement, even when HF was applied.
Generally, rapid cure reaction of LED encapsulation silicone resin causes serious defects in cured resin products such as warpage, residual bubbles, and reduced wettablility. In order to prevent residual bubbles in silicone resin, the step cure process was examined in the present paper. Three kinds of step cure processes were applied, and bubble-free phenomenon was observed. Most of the bubbles were removed under $70^{\circ}C$, the minimum temperature for activating cure reaction. In addition, degree of cure(DOC) and temperature distribution were predicted by using FEM analysis of heat transfer. It was concluded that maintaining cure temperature which provide a DOC under 0.5~0.6 effectively reduces residual bubbles.
3D printing is a technology that converts a computer-generated 3D model into a real object with additive manufacturing technology. A majority of 3D printing technologies uses one material, and this is considered a limitation. In this study, we developed a multi-material 3D printer by adopting dual resin vat and cleaning system with DLP (Digital Light Processing) 3D printing technology. The developed multi-material DLP 3D printer is composed of a manufacturing system, cleaning system, transporting system, and automatic resin recharging system. Various 3D structures were 3D printed with two materials, thus demonstrating the potential. Printing performance of the multi-material DLP 3D printer was studied by performing a comparative surface roughness test and tension test on specimens composed of one material as well as those composed of two materials.
The objective of this research is to evaluate the effect of adhesive types on dimensional stability of bamboo-oriented particleboard. The materials used in this research are bamboo tali(Gigantochloa apus J.A & J.H. Schult. Kurz), UF/MDI(8, 10, 12 % level), and MF, MDI, and PF at 7 % level. Particle and adhesive are mixed using a blending machine; then, mat forming and hot pressing processes are performed using adhesive-suitable temperature and time references. MDI resin is set at $160^{\circ}C$ temperature for 5 minutes. PF resin and MF resin are pressed at $170^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes, and $140^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes, respectively, while UF/MDI sets at temperature of $140^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes. The results show that particleboard using PF resin produces the lowest thickness swelling value. The particleboard using UF/MDI resin also produces good response for thickness swelling value. Interesting things happen in that UF/MDI adhesive produces a thickness swelling value better than that of MDI resin. FTIR analysis on particleboard bonded by UF/MDI resin combination shows the presence of carbonyl group C=O vibration on multi substitution of urea at wave number of around $1,700cm^{-1}$.
Bis-GMA, the representative monomer of bonding resin, contributes to the rigidity of bonding layer. Hydrophilic monomer contributes to the permeability into dentin substrates while weaken the bonding layer due to its small molecular weight. The degree of conversion also contributes to the ultimate strength of the bonding layer. This study was performed for the correlation analysis of monomer ratio and dentin bonding strength via degree of conversion. 7 experimental bonding resins were prepared with Bis-GMA, ratio from 20% to 80% by 10% increment, and hydrophilic HEMA monomer. Their degree of conversion and shear bond strength to dentin were compared with Scotchbond Multi-Purpose adhesive, and the fractured surfaces were examined microscopically. The results were as follows; 1. The degree of conversion increased when, the ratio of Bis-GMA increased from 20% to 70%, whereas it decreased when the ratio of Bis-GMA was 80%. 2. Shear bond strengths of the experimental bonding resins of 80%, 70%, 60% ratio of Bis-GMA were significantly higher than those of the experimental bonding resin of 50% ratio of Bis-GMA and Scotchbond Multi-Purpose adhesive. Lower shear bond strengths were obtained with the experimental bonding resins of 40%, 30%, 20% ratio of Bis-GMA (p<0.05). 3. Adhesive fractures were associated with the bonding resins of the lower bond strength, while cohesive fractures within the bonding resin layer were associated with the bonding resins of higher bond strength. Bonding resins with shear bond strength higher than 18MPa showed some cohesive fractures within the composite resin or within the dentin. 4. Correlations between Bis-GMA ratio and the degree of conversion (r=0.826), between Bis-GMA ratio and shear bond strength (r=0.853), and between the degree of conversion and shear bond strength (r=0.786) were significant (p<0.05).
Objective : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the resin infiltration into dentin of one-bottle adhesive systems and self-etching primer bonded to Class V cavities using confocal laser scanning microscope(CLSM). Material and Methods : Forty Class V cavities were prepared from freshly extracted caries-free Human teeth. These teeth were divided into two groups based on the presence of cervical abrasion: Group I, cervical abrasion : Group II, wedge-shaped cavity preparation. Resin-dentin interfaces were produced with two one-bottle dentin bonding systems-ONE COAT BOND(OCB; Coltene$^R$) and Syntac$^R$SPrint$^{TM}$(SS; VIVADENT)-, one self-etching priming system-CLEARFIL$^{TM}$ SE BOND (SB : KURARAY)- and one multi-step dentin bonding system-Scotchbond$^{TM}$Multi-Purpose (SBMP, 3M Dental Products)-as control according to manufacturers' instructions. Cavities were restored with Spectrum$^{R}$(Dentsply). Specimens were immersed in saline for 24 hours and sectioned longitudinally with a low-speed diamond disc. The resin-dentin interfaces were microscopically observed using CLSM. The quality of resin-infiltrated dentin layers were evaluated by five dentists using 0~4 scale. Results : Confocal laser scanning microscopal investigations using primer labeled with rhodamine B showed that the penetration of the primer occurred along the cavity margins. Statistical analysis using one-way ANOVA followed by Duncan's Multiple Range test revealed that the primer penetration of the group 2(wedge-shaped cavity preparation) was more effective than group 1(cervical abrasion) and that of the gingival interfaces was more effective than the occlusal interfaces. In the one-bottle dentin bonding systems, the resin penetration score of OCB was compatible to SBMP, but those of SS and self-etching priming system, SB were lower than SBMP.
Insulator systems using resin casting apparatus are useful to realize the high capacity, small size, and combined electric power equipments, and are expected to bring various advantages. In Korea, epoxy resin molded apparatus have been restricted to indoor uses till now. On the other hand, in Europe, molded insulators and transformers and so forth have been practically used since the former half of 1960's. Recently, investigation on epoxy resin materials and molded apparatus for outdoor use have ben intensively carried out. Probably, this is because electric power outdoor apparatus such as distribution transformer can be given multi-functions by using outdoor epoxy resin compound This study describes the trend on the development of epoxy mold transformers, and important technologies applied for outdoor use.
