A Study on the Performance Improvement Technique for Terrestrial DMB Watermarking based on MBOK Spread Spectrum (MBOK 확산 스펙트럼 기반의 지상파 DMB 워터마킹 성능 향상 기법 연구)

  • In this paper, we proposed analysis performance improvement technique for T-DMB watermarking based on MBOK spread spectrum. By applying the proposed scheme to T-DMB system, it allows additional data transmission and improves spectral efficiency of data transmission through watermarking spreading code. Using MBOK spread spectrum technique, data rate improved 2m-times existing direct sequence spread spectrum. However, since hardware complexity increase as the value of m becomes large, the method should be used with optimal situation. We analyze T-DMB watermarking techniques performance with MBOK spread spectrum and averaging. As a result, we confirm DER performance of MBOK spread spectrum scheme and it is shown system performance is improved as the number of averaging increases. The results of the paper can be applied to wireless multimedia digital broadcasting system.

The Multi-user Interference Cancellation in CDMA System using SIMPLEX Code (Simplex 부호를 사용한 CDMA 시스템의 다원접속간섭제거)

  • In this paper, we propose a system to cancel the multi-user interference of synchronous BPSK DS/CDMA systems. In this CDMA scheme, the spectrum of the user's signal is directly spread by means of the Simplex code or the phase offsetted PN code. But in arbitrary bit interval, we use the one spreading code of the Simplex code and the phase offsetted PN code. The receiver cancel the multi-user interference and demodulate information bits by using reference correlator. This paper presents a interference cancellation model and analyzes this system mathematically. The suggested system show that the interference resulting from other users are remarkably reduced. In AWGN and Nakagami fading environment we analyze interference generated from other users and compare the resulting performance with that of the conventional receiver in same user side.

  • In this paper, we have designed the VHDL module of DS/SS QPSK wireless modem processor for digital data communication. The spread spectrum method is used for modern processor, because this method guarantees good frequency efficiency and higher security. Also, it guarantees good performance in digital communication system under multi-path interferences. The differential encoder and decoder are used for simple circuit composition in the signal detection. For the synchronization of receiver, matched filter and power detector are used.   • Spreading sequence play an important role in wireless communications, such as in a CDMA(code division multiple access) communication system and multi-carrier spectrum communication system. Spreading sequences with low cross-correlation, in a direct-sequence spread spectrum communication system, help to minimize multiple access interference and to increase security degree of system. Analysis of cross-correlations between the sequences is a necessary process to design sequences. However it require lots of computing time for analysis of cross-correlations between sequences. In this paper we propose a method which is possible to compute effectively cross-correlation using subfield in the process of practical computation of cross-correlation between nonlinear binary sequences.

A New Multicarrier Multicode DS-CDMA Scheme for Time and Frequency Selective Fading Channels

  • In this paper, a new multi carrier, direct sequence code division multiple access (MC-DS-CDMA) system is proposed. Our new signal construction is based on convolutional encoding of the transmitted data, serial-to-parallel (S/P) conversion of the encoded data, Walsh-Hadamard-transformation (WHT), a second S/P conversion of the WHT outputs, spread spectrum (SS) modulation with a common pseudo-noise (PN) sequence, and then multicarrier transmission. The system bit error rate (BER) performance in frequency selective fading channel in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and a jamming tone is analyzed and simulated. The numerical results are compared with those from an orthogonal MC-DS-CDMA system of Sourour and Nakagawa [7]. It is shown that the two systems have almost the same BER performance, but the proposed scheme has better anti-jamming ability.

  • This paper presents a watermarking algorithm for embedding visually recognizable pattern (Mark, Logo, Symbol, stamping or signature) into the image. first, the color image(RGB model)is transformed in YCbCr model and then the Y component is transformed into 3-level wavelet transform. Next, the values are assembled with pattern watermark. PN(pseudo noise) code at spread spectrum communication method and mutilevel watermark weights. This values are inserted into discrete wavelet domain. In our scheme, new calculating method is designed to calculate wavelet transform with integer value in considering the quantization error. and we used the color conversion with fixed-point arithmetic to be easy to make the hardware hereafter. Also, we made the new solution using mutilevel threshold to robust to common signal distortions and malicious attack, and to enhance quality of image in considering the human visual system. the experimental results showed that the proposed watermarking algorithm was superior to other similar water marking algorithm. We showed what it was robust to common signal processing and geometric transform such as brightness. contrast, filtering. scaling. JPEG lossy compression and geometric deformation.

Multiple Access and Inter-Carrier Interference in OFDM-CDMA with Random Sequences

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of code division multiple access (CDMA) systems with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) that employ random spreading sequences in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. We obtain the probability density function (pdf) of the multiple access interference and extend the results to OFDM-CDMA systems to determine the pdf of multiple access and inter-carrier interference in terms of the number of users, the spreading length, the number of sub-carriers, and the frequency offset. We consider the synchronous downlink of cellular multi-carrier CDMA and derive a Gaussian approximation of the multiple access and inter-carrier interference. Overall the effect of frequency offset is shown to vary with the system loading. The analysis in this paper is critical for further development into fading channels and frequency selective multipath channels.
