Surface free-energy and hydrophobicity of MWCNT using glow plasma at low pressure (저진공 글로플라즈마를 이용한 탄소나노튜브의 표면 자유에너지와 소수성 특성)

  • The hydrophobic coating for multi-walled nanotubes was treated with toluene and trimethylchlorosilane glow discharge plasma under low pressure, and the hydrophobic surface of the treated MWCNT was investigates. In order to investigate the effects of -CH components from the toluene and TMCS glow plasma, we conducted on the total surface free energies of the MWCNT powder, which was calculated by measuring the contact angle between the cushion of MWCNT powder and the probe liquids. The total surface free energies were determined by Owens-Wendt equation and drastically decreased.

  • In this paper we presented experimental results of a gas sensor utilizing multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT)composites for the alcohol detection which is useful to checking drinking and driving, for example. The MWNT-composites were deposited using spray method on PES substrates suitable for use in low-cost and flexible sensors. We observed the variation of conductance from the sensors exposed to alcohol vapors evaporated at 37C equal to the human body temperature to match real condition. As the result, the conductance was decreased with the increase of ethanol vol% diluted in water. The sensors showed good sensitivity and linearity.

  • The multi function sprayed coating is used for direct-heating, wear resistance and high bonding strength. The merits of surface direct-heating coatings are short warming time, low power consumption and better wear resistance that can be used in many organization parts. In this study, the surface direct-heating and wear resistance can be improved by spraying the proper materials on the surface $Al_2$O$_3$40%TiO$_2$ powder and Ni-20%Cr powder that had the properties of conduction and high wear resistivity are used in order to improve wear resistance, electrical properties and bonding strength.

  • 본 연구에서는 건축자재로 널리 사용되는 PVC바닥상재 표면에 내오염성과 항균성을 증가시키기 위한 광경화형 코팅액 개발에 관한 것이다. PVC 바닥상재용으로 사용되는 우레탄-아크릴 수지에 수용성 대전방지제와 항균제를 배합하여 오염 및 정전기로부터 보호하고 미생물에 의한 전염성질환을 예방할 수 있는 광경화형 내오염/항균 코팅액에 관한 실험을 수행하였다. 연구결과, 수지에 수용성대전방지제 15%와 항균제 1%를 혼합하여 제조한 코팅액을 Bar-coater No.12로 코팅한 표면이 전기저항($10^9\Omega/cm^2$), 내오염도(매직 Test, 먼지부착 Test) 및 부착력(100%) 양호, 항균성(99.99%)로 가장 좋은 물성을 보였다.

  • Recently, thick PZT films are required for the cases of micro piezoelectric devices with high driving force, high breakdown voltage and high sensitivity, and so on. In this work, thick PZT films were fabricated by Sol-Gel multi-coating method. Microstructures, and electrical properties of films were investigated by XRD, FESEM, impedance analyzer, and P-E hysteresis. PZT films with 2.7$mu extrm{m}$ to 4.4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thickness were fabricated. Dielectric constant, loss, remnant polarization and coercive field of them were 880~1650 at 1kHz, 2~3% at 1kHz, 26~32 $\mu$C/$ extrm{cm}^2$, and 33~60kV/cm, respectively. Also a transverse piezoelectric coefficient $(e_{31,f})$ measurement system was fabricated and tested for thick film samples.

  • Multi-Surface (MS) treatment is a new technique of surface treatment to reduce the static friction factor on the surface of rubber. MS treatments include 4 methods which names are MS-V (UV-irradiation on the rubber surface), MS-M (doing the chemical reaction with double bond of rubber), MS-Q (dilution of rubber surface by silicone surfactant), and MS-P (coating and heating of rubber surface). The experiment and test of every MS-treatment had been carried out using acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM), and chlorosulphonated rubber (CSM) as rubber materials. It had introduced the steps of every MS-treatment process and the result of the properties test. From the research, it was found that the best method was MS-V treatment because it suited all the samples and the effect was obviously.

  • In this article, the present activities regarding research and development of continuous SiC fiber reinforced ceramic matrix composites (CFCC) in Japan are reviewed. The key technologies in SiC fiber composites are interphase between fiber and matrix and its oxidation resistance. To improve oxidation resistance of interphase, various kinds of technologies such as environment barrier coating, high dense matrix, unti-oxidation matrix, multi-layered intephase have been developed. It is suggested that high performance, affordable processing cost, and excellent reliability will be important factors to be in practical use of CMCs in future.

Fabrication of Wafer Level Fine Pitch Solder Bump for Flip Chip Application (플립칩용 웨이퍼레벨 Fine Pitch 솔더범프 형성)

  • Solder bump was electroplated on wafer for flip chip application. The process is as follows. Ti/Cu were sputtered and thick PR was formed by several coating PR layer. Fine pitch vias were opened using via mask and then Cu stud and solder bump were electroplated. Finally solder bump was formed by reflow process. In this paper, we opened 40㎛ vias on 57㎛ thick PR layer and electroplated solder bump with 70㎛ height and 40㎛ diameter. After reflow process, we could form solder bump with 53㎛ height and 43㎛ diameter. In plating process, we improved the plating uniformity within 3% by using ring contact instead of conventional multi-point contact.

  • This research develops an easy-to-use, environmentally friendly method for fabricating functional 1050 aluminum alloy surfaces with excellent corrosion resistance. Functional aluminum surfaces with various nanostructures are fabricated by controlling the experimental conditions of anodizing process. The experiment used a multi-step anodizing process that alternates between two different anodizing modes, mild anodizing (MA) and hard anodizing (HA), together with a pore-widening (PW) process. Among them, the nanostructured surface with a small solid fraction shows superhydrophobicity with a contact angle of more than 170° after water-repellent coating. In addition, the surface with superhydrophobicity is difficult for corrosive substances to penetrate, so the corrosion resistance is greatly improved.

Assessment of UV Blocking Performance for Development of Converged Technologies of Vision Correcting Spectacle Lenses (시력교정용 안경렌즈의 융복합적 기술개발을 위한 UV차단 성능 평가)

  • This study was wanted to confirm ability for UV blocking according to its material. The lenses materials were Acryl, CR-39, NK-55, and MR-8. It was grouped: Group A consisting of anti-scratch hard coated lenses and anti-refractive multi coated lenses, Group B added UV blocking coating on the group A, and Group C consisting of only UV blocking lenses. The results measured UV transmittance, On the UV-A wavelength, Group A showed the UV transmittance of 7.726%, 0.043%, 0.007%, and 0.007% respectively. Group B showed 0.038%, 0.037%, 0.007%, and 0.007%, respectively. The UV-blocking performance of CR-39 has been greatly improved. Group C has shown the best UV blocking function; only 0.005% and 0.004% of UV transmittances.(1.60 and 1.67 index of refraction respectively). For the low power of lenses and sunglasses, the CR-39 lens is the most used. Therefore, to UV blocking from the lens, new materials or UV absorbers or UV coating technology and development of Converged Technologies are required.
