At present, in Korea, 'the Act of Promotion of Convenience and SEcurity for Disabled, Aged, Expectant Mothers, etc.' is applied to only public facilities. Therefore, this study evaluated 7 units -2 multi-household house and i multi-studio type house- in order to grasp the problems caused if the aged would dwell in that type of house, by the items of 'manual for improving the residency of the disabled' which was stipulated by the act above. The data was collected from May to June, 2005. The results were as follows: Firstly, the main entrances, exits and width of stairways had narrow spaces, the handles and bars did not conform with the terms presented in the manual above. Front doors should be opened like a bay for wheelchair use. Secondly, additional lighting apparatus and furniture should be added properly Thirdly, there were several inconformity to the manual for bathroom: improper handles, inadjustable washing-stands, unavailable spaces in front of toilet bowls, and out-of-place showers and taps. Finally kitchen cabinet design improper for wheelchair user. In conclusion, accessibility of existing multi-household or multi-studio type house was not good enough for the aged reside in. Those insufficiencies suggest that more specified standards to enhance accessibility to develop senior congregate housing should be added.

This was an extended article of previous one. In case of house whose size was less than 20 Pyung, washing cloth and bathing behavior took place in the same place whereas in other house size, bathing behavior was incoperated into various behaviors usually shown in the bedroom. The ideal structure in the house of 20 Pyung's showed home office space closer to the bedroom area whereas in others it appeared independently.

Using a customized questionnaire, we examined the preferences of multi-functional furniture composition for single households. A questionnaire was developed by collecting images using key words related to multi-functional furniture and analyzing the final images by multi-functionality, furniture classification system and behavior. The most preferred multi-functional furniture composition are counter-tops and chest of drawers, followed by chest of drawers and beds, counter-tops and tableware, lighting and beds, closets and drawers. This research contributes significantly in that it suggests the basic data of optimized flexible multi-functional furniture design for single-person household by linking various behaviors and furniture in the house.

The method of study is to compare and analyze about housing situation, structure of house, housing type and construction of house space etc. through the statistical data of Bongwha statistical yearbook, space syntax(convex analysis) and other various data etc. during these 10 years. As a results of the analysis 1) According to Change of family member the supply ratio of detached house is steadily decreasing and changing from a detached house to multi-household house in Bongwha areas. 2) Most of houses structure were using lightweight steel construction because of cost-cutting of construction and easy way to construct etc.. 3) The highest Integration space is living space in rural house plans 4) The highest segregation space is bathroom space of master bed room in rural house plans. • The application of Residents Participation Designing Method is to provide the resident with a chance of either participating in the planning process of the house or selecting other possible options. The multi-household apartments have so far been grown in quantity by means of mass production and hence have contributed in elevating its supply. However, this manner of supplying has a tendency of ignoring much of the individuals concern regarding space planning And has therefore repeatedly standardized and stereotyped ground planning which only concerns its economic profit and effectiveness. As the standard of living and personal wealth have improved over the years, residents have come to demand a more futuristic model designed to satisfy the individuals personal taste and lifestyle. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to suggest the planning method of multi-household apartments to correspond to resident's specific demand.

  • Pipe network of hot water heat supply system in an apartment house was analyzed. Flowrate and supply heat capacity of each household in which constant flowrate balancing valve is installed in a single zone system were calculated and the results were investigated. In the existing piping system, the non-uniformity of heat supply with floors due to the static pressure and temperature difference between supply main and return main can not be avoided and this tendency get intense with the increase of the height of building. The non-uniformity of heat supply can be prevented by the installation of balancing valve at each household, however if the performance of supply pump is not sufficient to overcome the energy loss due to the installation of balancing valve for constant flow rate or if the selection of the valve capacity is not adequate, the valves will may lose their controllability.

  • This paper examines the changes in housing characteristics occupied by two or more households from 1995-2005, as a replicated follow-up study done by the previous decade of 1985-1995. The data analyzed were based on the Population and Housing Census in 1995, 2000, and 2005 by the Korean National Statistical Office. Results showed decreasing trends in the percentages of housing units occupied by multi-households and of households sharing a housing unit, while the average number of households for a shared housing unit was increasing. Detached dwellings in dongs (neighborhood) including ordinarily single-family detached ones, mainly multi-family houses, were the most often shared with other households even in the trend of the decreasing number of the detached housing. Further research is suggested to focus on housing circumstances of households sharing a detached dwelling in Dongs by the type of detached dwellings.

The method of study is to compare and analyze about housing situation, structure of house, housing type and housing area etc. through the statistical data of each Gun area and other various data etc. during these 5 years. As a results of the analysis : 1) The supply ratio of housing is steadily decreasing in rural areas. 2) The houses of rural areas are changing from a detached house to multi-household house and small apartment by development near the rural area. 3) The number and area of commercial buildings are gradually increasing because of urbanization of rural areas. 4) The most houses inside area scopes in the rural area was from $60m^2$ to $85m^2$ area. And the family types of rural house are changing from large family to nuclear family and single households. 5) The structure of rural houses is changing from the brick house type to lightweight steel construction house because of cost-cutting of construction and easy way to construct etc.
