  • The multi-environment probability density function model has been applied to simulate a turbulent premixed flame in a swirl combustor. To realistically account for the unsteady flow motion inside the combustor, the formulations are derived for the large eddy simulation. The Flamelet generated manifolds is utilized to simplify a multi-dimensional composition space with reasonable accuracy. The sub grid scale mixing is modeled by the interaction by exchange with the mean mixing model. To validate the present approach, the simulation results are compared with experimental data in terms of mean velocity, temperature, and species mass fractions.

  • In this paper, the performance of dual-hop multi-relay maximum ratio transmission (MRT) over Rayleigh flat fading channels is studied with both conventional (all relays participate the transmission) and opportunistic (best relay is selected to maximize the received signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)) relaying. Performance analysis starts with the derivation of the probability density function, cumulative distribution function and moment generating function of the SNR. Then, both approximate and asymptotic expressions of symbol error rate (SER) and outage probability are derived for arbitrary numbers of antennas and relays. With the help of asymptotic SER and outage probability, diversity and array gains are obtained. In addition, impact of imperfect channel estimations is investigated and optimum power allocation factors for source and relay are calculated. Our analytical findings are validated by numerical examples which indicate that multi-relay MRT can be a low complexity and reliable option in cooperative networks.

  • In intelligent warehouse picking system, the allocation of tasks has an important influence on the efficiency of the whole system because of the large number of robots and orders. The paper proposes a method to solve the task allocation problem that multi-robot task allocation problem is transformed into transportation problem to find a collision-free task allocation scheme and then improve the capability of task processing. The task time window and the power consumption of multi-robot (driving distance) are regarded as the utility function and the maximized utility function is the objective function. Then an integer programming formulation is constructed considering the number of task assignment on an agent according to their battery consumption restriction. The problem of task allocation is solved by table working method. Finally, simulation modeling of the methods based on table working method is carried out. Results show that the method has good performance and can improve the efficiency of the task execution.

  • In this paper, a thickness compensation function is introduced to consider the shear deformation and warping effect resulting from increased thickness in the composite multi-cell wing box. The thickness compensation function is used to perform the structure optimization of the multi-cell. It is determined by minimizing the error of an analytical formula using solid mechanics and the Ritz method. It is used to define a structural performance prediction expression due to the increase in thickness. The parameter is defined by the number of spars and analyzed by the critical buckling load and the limited failure index as a response. Constraints in structural optimization are composed of displacements, torsional angles, the critical buckling load, and the failure index. The objective function is the mass, and its optimization is performed using a genetic algorithm.

  • This study proposes a multi-core-based controller design for an ESC(Electronic Stability Control) system in an automotive multi-core processor. Considering the architectures of an automotive multi-core processor and an ESC system, the overall execution time has been optimized for multi-core platforms. The function module assignment, synchronization between cores, and memory assignment for core-dependent variables in automotive multi-core systems are evaluated. The ESC controller comprising five function modules is used herein. Based on the proposed design, the single-core controller is extended to multi-core controllers. Using multi-core optimization methods, such as function module assignment, semaphore, interrupt awakening, and variable assignment over cores, the ESC system is redesigned to a multi-core controller. Experimental results reveal that the execution time for the multi-core processor is reduced by 59.7% compared with that for the single-core processor.

  • In this paper, a convenient scheme for solving multi-objective optimization problems including fuzzy information in both objective functions and constraints is presented. At first, a multi-objective problem is converted into single objective problem based on the norm method, and a merbership function is constructed by selecting its type and providing the parameters defined by the norm method. Finally, this fuzzy programming problem is converted into an ordinary optimization problem which can be solved by usual nonlinear programming techniques. With this scheme, a designer can conveniently obtain pareto optimal solutions of a fuzzy system only by providing some parameters corresponding to the importance of the objectiv functions. Proposed scheme is simple and efficient in treating multi-objective fuzzy systems compared with and method by with membership function value is provided interactively. To show the validity of the scheme, a simple 3-bar truss example and optimal cutting problem are solved, and the results show that the scheme is very useful and easy to treat multi-objective fuzzy systems.

  • Fuzzy L.P. with Multi-criteria function is adopted in this VAR planning algorithm to accomplish the optimization of comflicting objectives, such as the amount of the VAR installed and power system loss, while keeping the bus voltage profile within an admissible range. Fuzzy L.P. with Multi-criteria function, a powerful tool dealing with the fuzziness of satisfaction levels of the constraints and the goal of objective functions, enables us to search for the solutions which may contribute in VAR planning. This advantage is not provided by traditional standardized L.P. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been verified by the test on the IEEE-30 bus system.

  • This paper presents a new energy function reflecting the damping effect in multi-machine power systems. The Lyapunov direct method provides precise and rigorous theoretical backgrounds for stability analysis of nonlinear systems. Incorporating damping effects into accurate estimates of the domain of attraction, which is a minor but crucial point, has been attempted with long history to yield partial success for single machine systems. In this paper, the damping-reflected energy function presented in the previous work has been generalized for application to multi-machine systems. The generalized energy function is tested for the WSCC 9-bus system to show the semi-negativeness of its time derivative.
