  • In Neijing("內經"), it explains heaven, earth, four seasons(天地四時) take part in human's birth, it gives influence on life support, and have organic relationship between body and movement of sun and earth(日月運行) of heaven and earth. Human body and the natural world corresponds, so the time changes in the natural world give immediate influence to human body, and correspond changes happen inside human body. This has no exception in qi of human(人氣), meridians, the viscera and organs(臟腑) and so on. In time, there are many kinds of cycles such as year, month, 10 days and a day. Yin and yang and the five elements in each cycle shows changes of prosperity and decay and transformation. In a year, there are spring, summer, late summer, fall and winter which are each included to wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Spring and summer belong to yang(陽), and fall and winter belong to yin(陰). A day can be divided into the crowing of the cook, dawn, noon, and twilight. After midnight yin falls and yang rises(陰盡陽生), and after noon yang falls and yin rises(陽盡陰生). Ups and downs of the qi and blood and human body change with time and the region of whereabout is different. In one month, when the moon is full qi of blood rises and when the moon comes down qi of blood falls. The qi of meridian(經氣) has a periodical changes with regular movement in meridian. This is a result of continuing movement of meridian and the nutrient(營) and the defense(衛) in human body, stars correspond with ups, and correspond with flow of water of meridian(經水) with downs. In a day the twelve meridians(十二經脈) in hour of yin(hours 3~5), it starts with qi and blood of lung meridian(手太陰肺經) prosperous, each qi and blood of meridian prosperous in order. In eight extra meridians(奇經八脈), Bideungpalbup(飛騰八法) per 5 days, Younggoopalbup(靈龜八法) per 60 days qi of pulse(脈氣) changes correspond. The qi and blood of five meridian points(五兪穴) is 5 days, so.

  • This paper describes preliminary results we have obtained in developing a computer vision system based on active IR illumination for real time gaze tracking for interactive graphic display. Unlike most of the existing gaze tracking techniques, which often require assuming a static head to work well and require a cumbersome calibration process for each person, our gaze tracker can perform robust and accurate gaze estimation without calibration and under rather significant head movement. This is made possible by a new gaze calibration procedure that identifies the mapping from pupil parameters to screen coordinates using the Generalized Regression Neural Networks (GRNN). With GRNN, the mapping does not have to be an analytical function and head movement is explicitly accounted for by the gaze mapping function. Furthermore, the mapping function can generalize to other individuals not used in the training. The effectiveness of our gaze tracker is demonstrated by preliminary experiments that involve gaze-contingent interactive graphic display.

  • In this study, we have evaluated and classified arthritic pathology using the auscultation of knee joint sound. Six normal persons and 11 patients with knee problem were enrolled. Six patients of Group 1 needed an orthopeadic surgery because of the ruptured wounds of meniscus or ACL(Anterior Cruciate Ligament) and 5 patients of Group 2 diagnosed as osteoarthritis. Subjects were taken knee flexion and extension being seated in a chair for 20 seconds which repeated 3 times. Also subjects stood up and sit down repeatedly in the same way. After the movement of knee was divided into 18 degrees, the pitch perturbation according to partial degrees was analyzed and the DTW(Dynamic Time Warping) method was applied for normalizing a time-axis and unpaired t-test was used for statistic results among groups. As a result, the amplitude and frequency perturbations of group 2 was higher than group 1(p<0.05) and showed a characteristic 'w-shape' in angle-amplitude graph. These results suggest that the analysis of knee joint sound might assist in early diagnosis of knee joint disease.

  • There has been a lot of attention paid recently to analyze dynamic human gestures that vary over time. Most attention to dynamic gestures concerns with spatio-temporal features, as compared to analyzing each frame of gestures separately. For accurate dynamic gesture recognition, motion feature extraction algorithms need to find representative features that uniquely identify time-varying gestures. This paper proposes a new feature-extraction algorithm using temporal self-similarity based on a hierarchical human model. Because a conventional temporal self-similarity method computes a whole movement among the continuous frames, the conventional temporal self-similarity method cannot recognize different gestures with the same amount of movement. The proposed model-based temporal self-similarity method groups body parts of a hierarchical model into several sets and calculates movements for each set. While recognition results can depend on how the sets are made, the best way to find optimal sets is to separate frequently used body parts from less-used body parts. Then, we apply a multiclass support vector machine whose optimization algorithm is based on structural support vector machines. In this paper, the effectiveness of the proposed feature extraction algorithm is demonstrated in an application for taebo gesture recognition. We show that the model-based temporal self-similarity method can overcome the shortcomings of the conventional temporal self-similarity method and the recognition results of the model-based method are superior to that of the conventional method.

And thus the Blood pressure, isometric movement of atrium,Mg++-Ca++-ATPasc activity of sarcoplasmin reticulum. liver function, prothrombin time, and changes of blood composition were measured in the presence of Boganhwan. The results obtained here were as following: 1. The blood pressure decreased in the presence of SAMOOLTANG, and the decreasing effect was more stimulated by adding Bangpoong and Ganghwa(Boganhwan) 2. The oral administration of the drug for 7days also demonstrated the decreasing of blood pressure and the effect was stimulated by adding Bangpoong and Kanghwal. 3. The autonomic nerve blocking agents such as atropine and regitine did not demonstrate the effect on the drug action. 4. Boganhwan inhibited the cardiac isometric movement and rate by stimulating the Mg++-Ca++-ATPase activity of the heart sarcoplasmins reticulum. 5. Boganhwan increased the number of red blood cell, hematocrit percentage, hemoglobin concentration, and prothrombin time. 6. The drug stimulated the liver metabolism by stimulating the total ATPase activity. According to the results. Boganhwan demonstrated the decreased blood pressure and it also increased the hemoglobin concentration and the hematocrit percent. These effects stanches the hypertension. anemia, and cerebrovascular accident.

  • The representative study of Patellofemoral Joint Merchant method can show the view for inspection of the sulcus angle, congruence angle and diagnose whether there are the vertical fractures and recognize the degree of dislocation and patella subluxation. However, anatomical correlation about the degree of knee joint curvature changes during position adjustment and distortion of the image reduces reproducibility. In order to resolve these problems, Merchant method needs to use assisting device which reduces the occurrence of repeat projection and effectively to increase unification of examination and the consistency of the image. However, there are disadvantages for patients who take other examinations. For example, they have to change the position for every examination and it might cause the patient's discomfort and increase of examination time. In this study, we newly devised commercial assisting device which improves the reproducibility of the images and reduces inconvenience of patients movement. Further research should be taken to obtain a image without patient's movement and to reduce the time of the examination than existing method.

  • Neutron imaging technique was used to investigate the water distribution and movement in Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) at HANARO, KAERI. The Feasibility tests were performed in the first and second exposure rooms at the neutron radiography facility (NRF) at HANARO in order to check the ability of each exposure room, respectively. The feasibility test apparatus was composed of water and pressurized air before making up the actual test apparatus. Due to the low neutron intensity in the second exposure room, the exposure time was too long to investigate the transient phenomena of PEMFC. Although the exposure time was improved to 0.1 sec in the first exposure room, it was difficult to discriminate detail water movement at the channel due to the high noise level. Therefore, the experimental setup must be optimized according to the test conditions. Water discharge characteristics were investigated under different flow field geometries by using feasibility test apparatus and the neutron imaging technique. The water discharge characteristics of a 3-parallel serpentine are superior to those of a 1-parallel serpentine, but water at Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) was not removed, regardless of the flow field type.

  • This paper deals with a methodology that applies the time-varying magnetic fields produced by the cloud discharges to find the direction of thunderstorm movement. We investigated the basic performance of the magnetic field measurement system composed of multi-turn loop-type sensors, the differential amplifier and active integrator. As a result, the response characteristics of the magnetic field sensor system to sinusoidal signals was excellent. The frequency bandwidth ranges from about 1 kHz to 500 kHz, the response sensitivity was 0.16mV/nT. In addition, we proposed the algorithm that determines the direction of lightning discharges using the comparison of the output signals of right-angled loop-type magnetic field sensors. The accuracy of the direction finding of lightning discharges is fairly well within the measurement error of less than $5^{\circ}$. The magnetic field measurement system proposed in this work can be used to track the direction of thunderstorm movement.

  • The purpose of this report is to present the successful improvement of occlusal relationship and facial esthetics in class II division 1 malocclusion with severe labioversion of upper anterior teeth and severe overjet, and in class II malocclusion with infraversion of bilateral maxillary canines by MEAW mechanics, which enables us to get effective distal on mass movement of maxillary dentition, with upper second molar extraction. After treatment, there were natural contact points at canine and premolar regions, normal occlusal relation-ship and treatment results, satisfied the gnathologic concept, in this 2 cases. Compared with the routine treatment with premolar extraction, the treatment time and patients' discomfort were reduced. And the MEAW mechanics, which enables us to get effective distal on mass movement of maxillary dentition, resulted in reduction of the treatment time and getting the good treatment results. Consequently, the majot concerns in orthodontic treatment are appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan, so, the application of second molar extraction with appropriate case analysis and diagnosis is very helpful to orthodontic treatment.
