  • This paper proposes the concept of "virtual sensor data" and its application for real time obstacle avoidance. The virtual sensor data is virtual distance which takes care of the movement of the obstacle as well as that of the robot. In practical application, the virtual sensor data is calculated from the odometry data and the range sensor data. The virtual sensor data can be used in all the methods which use distance data for collision avoidance. Since the virtual sensor data considers the movement of the robot and the obstacle, the methods utilizing the virtual sensor data results in more smooth and safer collision-free motion.

  • Communicating devices for the seriously disabled using eye-ball movement or some body movement are proposed. The first one is a device to use image processing, whose input signal is eyeball movement, A feature of this device is that the device can be readily realized using a note-book computer with USB (Universal Serial Bus) interface bus. This device is incorporated with a word processing software called Nearly Ladder. The second one is an emergency call switch which is used by a patient who can move his finger slightly. The patients can switch on the emergency switch only by touching a switch with his finger. The essence of this sensor is a touch sensor. The sensor can be realized using onl...

  • This paper demonstrates a new non-contact electronic joystick using single hall sensor which detects a horizontal vector of the magnetic field. Furthermore, in this paper, it is mathematically modeled that nonlinear characteristics between the output of hall sensor and the movement of joystick bar. The dynamic horizontal vector of magnetic flux is detected by the hall sensor while a permanent magnet is rotated with the joystick bar, which has two dimension detecting area. Using the nonlinear adjustment equations, the output signals of hall sensor have been linearized to give higher accuracy in the two dimension movement. Finally, through the real experiments, it is showed that the single hall sensor structure mechanism is superior to the dual sensor structure in sensing the two-dimensional motion without offset.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest that the movement expression activity of intellectually disabled people is effective in the learning process of LMA motion recognition based on Kinect sensor. We performed an ICT motion recognition games for intellectually disabled based on movement learning of LMA. The characteristics of the movement through Laban's LMA include the change of time in which movement occurs through the human body that recognizes space and the tension or relaxation of emotion expression. The design and implementation of the motion recognition model will be described, and the possibility of using the proposed motion recognition model is verified through a simple experiment. As a result of the experiment, 24 movement expression activities conducted through 10 learning sessions of 5 participants showed a concordance rate of 53.4% or more of the total average. Learning motion games that appear in response to changes in motion had a good effect on positive learning emotions. As a result of study, learning motion games that appear in response to changes in motion had a good effect on positive learning emotions

  • In this paper, we introduce a novel mobility model for mobile sinks in which the sinks move towards randomly distributed destinations, where each destination is associated with a mission. The novel mobility model is termed the random mobility with destinations. There have been many studies on mobile sinks; however, they merely support two extreme cases of sink mobility. The first case features the most common and general mobility, with the sinks moving randomly, unpredictably, and inartificially. The other case takes into account mobility only along predefined or determined paths such that the sinks can gather data from sensor nodes with minimum overhead. Unfortunately, these studies for the common mobility and predefined path mobility might not suit for supporting the random mobility with destinations. In order to support random mobility with destination, we propose a new protocol, in which the source nodes send their data to the next movement path of a mobile sink. To implement the proposed protocol, we first present a mechanism for predicting the next movement path of a mobile sink based on its previous movement path. With the information about predicted movement path included in a query packet, we further present a mechanism that source nodes send energy-efficiently their data along the next movement path before arriving of the mobile sink. Last, we present mechanisms for compensating the difference between the predicted movement path and the real movement path and for relaying the delayed data after arriving of the mobile sink on the next movement path, respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol achieves better performance than the existing protocols.

  • This paper proposed a smart-phone based user movement state identification algorithm. Then movement state of the user is identified by calculating the location and moving speed using the GPS sensor, and detailed movement methods are identified by analyzing the data from the Orientation sensor. In this study, two sensors of the smart-phone were used to implement the user movement status identification algorithm and to perform tests. The reference values of the speed and orientation required for the identification of the movement type were defined based on the experimental data. The results of this study showed that the movement type of a smart-phone user can be identified using the user movement state identification algorithm.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish the contents of virtual reality for a patient who suffers from various diseases and needs Upper-limbs Rehabilitation. First, the system provides the movement content to remote patient. Then system is tracking information in the joints by using Kinect Sensor. And similarity comparison of a given content to diagnose the movement of the patient. The tracked movement information is stored in the database with similarity and is delivered to the rehabilitation therapist. The result of this study will enhance the effectiveness and concentration of the rehabilitation therapy and be used as basic data evaluating the function of the Upper-limbs Rehabilitation.

  • Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) field is mainly studied to monitor and characterize large-scale physical environments to track various environmental or physical conditions, such as temperature, pressure, wind speed and humidity. WSN can be used in various applications such as wild surveillance, military target tracking and monitoring, dangerous environmental exploration and natural disaster relief. We design probabilistic mobile models that apply to mobile ad hoc network mobile environments. A probabilistic shift model proposed by dividing the number of moving nodes and the distance of travel into two categories to express node movement characteristics. The proposed model of movement through simulation was compared with the existing random movement model, ensuring that the width and variation rate of the first node node node node (FND) was stable regardless of the node movement rate. In addition, when the proposed mobile model is applied to the routing protocol, the superiority of network life can be verified from measured FND values. We overcame the limitations of the existing random movement model, showing excellent characteristics in terms of energy efficiency and stable in terms of changes in node movement.

  • In this paper, always monitoring system of fiber Bragg Crating(FBG)Sensor is described and FBGs are well suited for measuring the movement in the part of the spatial structure(for example, cable, membrane and so on)under the pressure conditions. In order to measure the movement of long span structure, we need the measurable equipment that takes in many spots to measure. In the result of experiment, the fiber sensors showed good response to the pressure conditions. Therefore, We could calculate the movement of spatial structure and be possible health monitoring of the spatial structure.
