철도차량에 대한 전과정평가 도입을 위한 방안 연구 (A Study on the Introduction of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for Rolling Stocks)

  • Due to sustainable development, international environmental regulations have been reinforced continuously. Especially, Kyoto protocol related to energy consumption affects to national production system seriously. Even if railroad is the most environmental- friendly transportation, it is necessary to improve its environment. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a representative tool to evaluate the environment impacts of a product. In the EU's railroad companies, the recycling efficiency and the waste emissions of rolling stocks have improved considering their environment impacts with LCA from a design step. Also, the LCA system of Korean electric motor units has been developed to build an environmentally sound railroad as one of national transportation core technology R&D projects. Therefore, the introduction of LCA will be required to decrease environmental impacts released from rolling stocks in the future.

  • Industry faces a considerable challenge to meet the high demand for reduced impacts and improved environmental performance. With this current stream, railway industry launched a systematic scheme for environmental friendly EMU and its system. An assessment tool which evaluate the environmental impacts of the product through its entire life cycle has been developed. The next step to environmentally sound and sustainable product design, shortly ECODESIGN has come to be essential and necessary as well. Ecodesign requires to identify possible stakeholder requirements first. The paper illustrates way how to define stakeholder requirements in terms of environment and shows approach linking stakeholder requirements to environmental parameters.

시뮬레이션에 의한 오토바이 헬멧의 충격 응답 분석 (A Simulation for the Impact Response Analysis of a Motor Cycle Helmet)

  • To analyze the impulsive response of a motorcycle helmet, a simulation is performed using the finite element method. Based upon the simulation result, an equivalent one degree of freedom vibrational system is adapted, and transient impulsive responses are analysed to investigate the influence of engineering parameters such as damping, natural frequency, and impact velocity on the impulsive response of the helmet. Maximum gravitational acceleration reduces as the damping factor value increases. When the damping factor value is around 0.6 or larger, the maximum acceleration does not change. With respect to the natural frequency and the impact velocity, it increases linearly. The relationship between head injury criterion(HIC) and maximum gravitational acceleration is also presented. The scheme of this study is expected to be utilized to economize the design process of high quality motorcycle helmets.

  • An investigation of the TMR(Track Misregistration) requirements to achieve the capacity of 80GBytes/Platter in 7200rpm disk drive system is reported. This paper also gives an overview of the PES(Position Error Signal) characteristics in the 57,500TPI disk drive to estimate the required 95,000TPI-system PES. The TMR measured by PES are presented and decomposed in order to identify the portions and their contributions of the spindle-disk system vibration and HSA(Head-Stack-Assembly) system vibration respectively. A comprehensive review on the servo system is also presented to provide the practical limits of the modem servo architecture into TMR budget design. The decomposed PES energy distribution shows that the spindle-disk pack vibration is one of the top-ranking sources of the total TMR budget and its percentage contribution is about 50% considering all the other TMR sources.

  • In this paper, simulation results of a robust digital tracking controller on a robotic manipulator are presented. The objective is to follow a ramp reference input with zero steady state error in the presence of a disturbance and system parameter variations. Some of the difficulties are caused by the Coulomb frictions, the disturbance due to the gravitational pull, the spring effect of a link between the drive motor and the manipulator arm. Another difficulty is that, because of the non-differentiable Coulomb friction, the digital control system cannot be represented as a discrete system. It is thus necessary to design the controller based on a discrete-continuous hybrid model. The controller is based on feeding back the state variables and augmenting the system by addition discrete integrators. The feedback gain parameters are obtained by applying the quadratic optimal control theory and then choosing the new weighting matrices to eliminate the limit cycle by using the describing function method for hybrid system.

  • The brain of the human is the best model for the artificial intelligence and is studied by many natural, medical scientists and engineers. In the engineering department, the brain model becomes a main subject in the area of development of a system that can represent and think like human. In this paper, we approach and define the function of the brain biologically and especially, make a model for the function of cerebral cortex, known as a part that performs behavior inference and decision for sensitive information from the thalamus. Therefore, we try to make a model for the transfer process of the brain. The brain takes the sensory information from sensory organ, proceeds behavior inference and decision and finally, commands behavior to the motor nerves. We use the modular neural network in this model. finally, we would like to design the intelligent system that can sense, recognize, think and decide like the brain by learning the information process in the brain with the modular neural network.

자동차 TV광고에서 나타난 영상기호의 섹슈얼리티 양상 고찰 (Study on Sexuality of Image Signal on TV Commercial)

  • 본 연구에서는 자동차 TV광고에서 나타나는 섹슈얼리티의 의미화를 영상기호학적 시각에서 연구하는데 그 목표가 있다. 이를 위해서 페미니즘적 비평을 소개하고, '아네트 쿤(Annette Kuhn)'이 제시한 섹슈얼리티 표현의 구조를 파악하였다. 연구는 국내 자동차TV광고 자료 188편을 대상으로 하였다. 이 중 아네트 쿤의 섹슈얼리티 구조적 특징을 가지고 있는 45편의 광고를 선정하였고, 분석한 결과는 각 구조별로 체계적으로 제시하였다. TV광고의 섹슈얼리티 영상기호 분석이 갖는 의미는 다음과 같이 정리될 수 있다. 대중의 시선을 확보하기 위해 성적표현의 비중이 점차 높아지고 있는 상황에서 다분히 주관적 일수 있는 섹슈얼리티를 기호학에 근거를 두고 설명한 아네트 쿤의 연구로 구조화하여 분석함으로써 어느 정도 객관적으로 구체화 할 수 있었다. 또한, 섹슈얼리티와 자동차가 갖는 독특한 관계를 이해한다면 자동차디자인의 기획 단계에서 컨셉 설정에 따른 구체적인 자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다. 마지막으로 섹슈얼리티 영상기호의 분석은 TV광고의 제작뿐만 아니라 섹슈얼리티를 표현하고자 하는 다른 여러 영상 제작 과정에 있어서도 실제적인 도움을 줄 수 있겠다.

  • Since most real experimental situations are different from those of the simulations, it is required to modify control rules through experiments owing to uncertainties and unmodeled dynamics of the plant. This paper presents a convenient monitoring system which can display system responses exactly and test the performances of the control system. We design a PID controller using DSP board and propose a monitoring system based on PC and C++ Builder program. With the proposed monitoring system we can easily control the velocity of a DC motor system.

  • In this paper, optimum shape design of permanent magnet in slotted type Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PMLSM) is progressed for minimization of detent force owing to structure of slot-teeth and thrust ripple by harmonic magnetic flux of permanent magnet. The characteristics of thrust and detent force computed by Finite element Analysis are acquired equal effect both skewed basic model and optimum model which is optimization of permanent magnet shape.

  • Power semiconductor devices are widely used as high voltage applications to inverters and motor drivers, etc. The blocking voltage is one of the most important parameters for power semiconductor devices. Generally most of field effect concentrations shows on the edge of power devices. Can be improve the breakdown characteristic using edge termination technology. In this paper, considering the variables that affect the breakdown voltage and optimization of parameters result for 600 V Super Junction MOSFET Field ring.
