The accidents attributed to the forklift have increased as the number of the forklift increases. It is significant that most of the accidents were fatal. This study investigated slip distance of forklift depending upon the floor materials and their conditions in industrial site. For doing this, an experiment was conducted, in which the floor materials and their conditions were adopted as independent variables and the slip distance as dependent variable. Six floor materials included asphalt concrete, two color hardener mortar, epoxy paint and deluxe tile. Two types of floor conditions, wet and dry, were used in the experiment. The results showed that the slip distance was shorter on the asphalt and concrete floors than on other floors, and that the distance on the wet floor was six times longer than that on the dry condition. Based on this result, it is recommended that as in the advanced countries, the regulation or standard on the floor conditions such as friction coefficient be established for reducing forklift relevant accidents.
Experimental isotherm compressive tests show that concrete behaviour is dependent on temperature. The aim of such tests is to reproduce how concrete will behave under environmental changes within a moderate range of temperature. In this paper, a novel constitutive elastic damage behaviour law is proposed based on a free energy with an apparent damage depending on temperature. The proposed constitutive behaviour leads to classical theory of thermo-elasticity at small strains. Fixed elastic mechanical characteristics and fixed evolution law of damage independent of temperature and the material volume element size are considered. This approach is applied to compressive tests. The model predicts compressive strength and secant modulus of elasticity decrease as temperature increases. A power scaling law is assumed for specific entropy as function of the specimen size which leads to a volume size effect on the stress-strain compressive behaviour. The proposed model reproduces theoretical and experimental results from literature for tempertaures ranging between $20^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$. The effect of the difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion between the mortar and coarse aggregates is also considered which gives a better agreement with FIB recommendations. It is shown that this effect is of a second order in the considered moderate range of temperature.
In this paper, the impact of a vernacular pozzolanic kaolinite mine on concrete alkali-silica reaction and strength has been evaluated. For making the samples, kaolinite powder with various levels has been used in the quality specification test of aggregates based on the ASTM C1260 standard in order to investigate the effect of kaolinite particles on reducing the reaction of the mortar bars. The compressive strength, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) experiments have been performed on concrete specimens. The obtained results show that addition of kaolinite powder to concrete will cause a pozzolanic reaction and decrease the permeability of concrete samples comparing to the reference concrete specimen. Further, various machine learning methods have been used to predict ASR-induced expansion per different amounts of kaolinite. In the process of modeling methods, optimal method is considered to have the lowest mean square error (MSE) simultaneous to having the highest correlation coefficient (R). Therefore, to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed model, the results of the support vector machine (SVM) method were compared with the decision tree method, regression analysis and neural network algorithm. The results of comparison of forecasting tools showed that support vector machines have outperformed the results of other methods. Therefore, the support vector machine method can be mentioned as an effective approach to predict ASR-induced expansion.

The objective of this paper is to evaluate the flexural tensile strength of unreinforced concrete masonry wall to ensure the structural safety in out-of-plane behaviors under the wind or earthquake loads. Flexural tensile strength of unreinforced concrete masonry wall has been obtained from the full scale tests of total 327 specimens and the statistical analysis are performed for each of the cases. The flexural tensile strength derived from experiments is classified as 13 groups according to masorny units, mortar ingredients, and the direction of tensile stresses and the mean tensile strength and the variable coefficient are obtained for each case. The uniform and concentrated transverse loads have been applied over the face of the wall specimens. The ultimate mean flexural tensile strengths are distributed from 1,564 kPa to 363 kPa according to masonry units, mortar ingredients, and other factors. The allowable flexural tension stress criteria will be established based on the mean flexural tensile strengths in the future.

Concrete is a construction material with porous media and corroded steel inside affects negatively to durability and structural safety. This study aims a derivation of quantitative relationship between measured HCP (Half Cell Potential) and corrosion amount considering cover depth and W/C (water to cement) ratio. For the work, cement mortar specimens with 3 different W/C ratios and 4 different cover depths are prepared, HCPs are measured with 3 different corrosion level. HCP measurement significantly increases in the saturated condition and linear relationship is observed between corrosion level and acceleration period. With increasing corrosion level and W/C ratio, and decreasing cover depth, HCP measurement increases. Considering total corrosion level and HCP measurements, relatively low COV(Coefficient of Variation) of 0.67 is evaluated through multi-linear regression analysis, however higher COVs over 0.90 can be obtained considering level of HCP measurement. In the room condition, corrosion level can be evaluated through measured HCP in the given conditions of cover depth, W/C ratio. diameter of steel inside.

Recently, research on self-healing concrete has been actively conducted, and various methods have been attempted for use in the maintenance of structures. However, contrary to the technical development of self-healing concrete, the method for evaluating the performance is insufficient. Although surface observation and permeability experiments are widely used to observe the healing of cracks, microscopic observation of surface may be insufficient to assess the overall performance. Also, permeation experiments should consider the losses caused by the dissolution of self-healed product and viscosity of water. Although a gas diffusion experiment have been proposed to overcome the shortcomings of these two test methods, verification has not been made on specimens with actual healing. Therefore, in this study, gas diffusion experiments were performed on the mortar specimens that had healed, and the adequacy of self-healing evaluation by the gas diffusion experiment was verified.

In this study, ASTM C 1202 which is most commonly used for evaluating the penetration resistance into the concrete is reviewed. The test results by ASTM C 1202 showed that the passed charge could be underestimated as the $OH^-$ ion concentration in the concrete is lowered when the concrete is mixed with the admixtures. Therefore, the modified method using the distilled water was proposed in the paper. According to the test results, the modified method is not susceptible to $OH^-$ ion and temperature rise. In addition, the long term emersion test for the concrete mixed with the admixtures in the NaCl solution showed that the chloride diffusion coefficient tested by the modified method have higher correlation compared to the conventional ASTM method.
The thermal performance of storage brick, containing microencapsulated PCM(phase change material), was investigated for utilization as a floor heating system. Sodium acetate trihydrate($CH_3COONa{\cdot}3H_2O$) was selected for the PCM and was encapsulated. The thermal storage brick was manufactured with mixing cement mortar having 10%, 20% PCM contents, respectively. Four different flow rates and three different cooling temperatures was used in this work for analyzing the heat charging and discharging characteristics of the thermal storage brick. The result showed that cycle time was shortened as the PCM content was increased and as the mass flow rate was increased. The same effect was obtained when the cooling temperature was decreased. For each thermal storage brick the overall heat transfer coefficient(U-value) was constant for a 0% brick, but was increased with time for the bricks containing microencapsulated PCM.

Recently, studies on alkali activated slag(AAS) binders that do not use cement have been actively conducted. It is known that AAS concrete is highly resistant to chloride damage based on the test method used for ordinary concrete. However, it is fully not understood whether the test method used for concrete can be applied to AAS mixtures. Therefore, in this study, we verified the consistency of NT Build 492 and ASTM C 1202 test methods by applying various experimental variables. According to the experimental results, the two tests yielded opposite results. Therefore, the chloride durability of AAS mortar can be different depending on the evaluation method.
Natural pozzolans are used as additives in cement to develop more durable and high-performance concrete. Pozzolanic activity index (PAI) is important for assessing the performance of a pozzolan as a binding material and has an important effect on the compressive strength, permeability, and chemical durability of concrete mixtures. However, the determining of the 28 days (short term) and 90 days (long term) PAI of concrete mixtures is a time-consuming process. In this study, to reduce extensive experimental work, it is aimed to predict the short term and long term PAIs as a function of the chemical compositions of various natural pozzolans. For this purpose, the chemical compositions of various natural pozzolans from Central Anatolia were determined with X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy. The mortar samples were prepared with the natural pozzolans and then, the short term and the long term PAIs were calculated based on compressive strength method. The effect of the natural pozzolans' chemical compositions on the short term and the long term PAIs were evaluated and the PAIs were predicted by using multiple linear regression (MLR) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) model. The prediction model results show that both reactive SiO2 and SiO2+Al2O3+Fe2O3 contents are the most effective parameters on PAI. According to the performance of prediction models determined with metrics such as root mean squared error (RMSE) and coefficient of correlation (R2), ANFIS models are more feasible than the multiple regression model in predicting the 28 days and 90 days pozzolanic activity. Estimation of PAIs based on the chemical component of natural pozzolana with high-performance prediction models is going to make an important contribution to material engineering applications in terms of selection of favorable natural pozzolana and saving time from tedious test processes.
