  • The near-collapse performance limit is defined as the deformation at the 20% drop of maximum base shear in the decreasing region of the pushover curve for ductile framed buildings. Although monotonic pushover analysis is preferred due to the simple application procedure, this analysis gives rise to overestimated results by neglecting the cumulative damage effects. In the present study, the acceptabilities of monotonic and cyclic pushover analysis results for the near-collapse performance limit state are determined by comparing with Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) results for a 5-story Reinforced Concrete framed building. IDA is performed to obtain the collapse point, and the near-collapse drift ratios for monotonic and cyclic pushover analysis methods are obtained separately. These two alternative drift ratios are compared with the collapse drift ratio. The correlations of the maximum tensile and compression strain at the base columns and beam plastic rotations with interstory drift ratios are acquired using the nonlinear time history analysis results by the simple linear regression analyses. It is seen that these parameters are highly correlated with the interstory drift ratios, and the results reveal that the near-collapse point acquired by monotonic pushover analysis causes unacceptably high tensile and compression strains at the base columns, as well as large plastic rotations at the beams. However, it is shown that the results of cyclic pushover analysis are acceptable for the near-collapse performance limit state.

  • The use of cold-formed steel members is increasing day by day, especially in regions where earthquake effects are intensively experienced. Among cold-formed steel members (CFS), "channel" members are used more than other crosssectional members, especially in buildings or industrial structures. In recent years, several studies have been carried out on the axial load and flexural performance of these members under monotonic loading. In this study, CFS beam-column members were cyclically and monotonically loaded under combined axial load and biaxial bending moments, and their buckling behavior, load bearing capacity, stiffness, ductility, and energy absorption capacity were determined. For this purpose, monotonic and cyclic loading experiments were carried out on 30 CFS channel members at 15 different eccentricities. Then, material properties were determined by axial monotonic tensile and very low cycle fatigue tests for use in numerical studies. From the experimental results, the buckling modes, bearing capacities, ductility, stiffness, and energy absorption capacities of the members were obtained. The characteristics of the members were compared according to the stress state of the lips. According to the data obtained from the displacement transducer placed on the lips and on the back of the web, information about the buckling mode and curvature of the members was obtained. Finally, monotonic, and cyclic loading results were compared to determine the differences in the buckling behavior of the members.

  • The highest frequency band of wavelet decomposition band is divided into 4 equal subbands and by the minimum power of the subbands and by the monotonic transform, the level adapted threshold is obtained. The adapted threshold is applied to the soft threshold technique to denoise high and middle frequency band noise of image signals. And the results of PSNRs are compared with the results obtained by the VisuShrink technique and by the technique using the monotonic transform and the weight value. The results showed the validity of this technique.

  • To analysis machanical behavior for RC frame under monotonic & Cyclic load, it is needed to investigate elasto-plastic behavior for steel & concrete. Therefore, in this study, we idealized material model(steel and concrete) to take into account elasto-plastic, limit state, and developed structural analysis program that consider complex non-linearity. We investigated simple beam and portal frame under cyclic & monotonic loading, so we confirmed the propriety.

  • This paper discuss some properties of non-monotonic fuzzy measures of Ф -bounded variation. We show that there is an example of Ф such that $\beta$V(x, F) is a proper subspace of Ф$\beta$V(x, F) And also, we prove that Ф$\beta$V(x, F) is a real Banach space. Furthermore, we investigate some properties of non-monotonic fuzzy Ф -measures.

  • In this paper, we propose a new branch-reduction-and-bound algorithm to solve the nonlinear knapsack problems by using general discrete monotonic optimization techniques. The specific properties of the problem are exploited to increase the efficiency of the algorithm. Computational experiments of the algorithm on problems with up to 30 variables and 5 different constraints are reported.

  • In this article, the logarithmically complete monotonicity of some functions such as $\frac{1}{[\Gamma(x+1)]^{1/x}$, $\frac{[\Gamma(x+1)]^{1/x}}{x^\alpha}$, $\frac{[\Gamma(x+1)]^{1/x}}{(x+1)^\alpha}$ and $\frac{[\Gamma(x+\alpha+1)]^{1/(x+\alpha})}{[\Gamma(x+1)^{1/x}}$ for $\alpha{\in}\mathbb{R}$ on ($-1,\infty$) or ($0,\infty$) are obtained, some known results are recovered, extended and generalized. Moreover, some basic properties of the logarithmically completely monotonic functions are established.

  • In PET(Positron Emission Tomography), it is necessary to use transmission scan data in order to estimate the attenuation map. Recently, there are several empirical studies in which one might be able to estimate attenuation map and activity distribution simultaneously with emissive sinogram alone without transmission scan. However, their algorithms are based on the model in which does not include the background counts term, and so is unrealistic. If the background counts component has been included in the model, their algorithm would introduce non-monotonic reconstruction algorithm which results in vain in practice. in this paper, we develop a monotonic and parallelizable algorithm for simultaneous reconstruction of both characteristics and present the validity through some simulations.
