  • As library have become changed. Beyond conventional simple functions such as data storing and recording, the functions of modern public libraries are expended to various directions, for example functions of encouraging residents to utilize information and participate in cultural activities and also a function of life-long education, resulting in playing a role as complex space. As the role of public libraries changes into a complex one, spatial planning reflecting this change is required. Spatial arrangements, furniture arrangements and interior images in 12 public libraries in Seoul were analyzed. As a result of the study, it was found that in spatial arrangements, many public libraries linked spaces by functions. Furniture arrangements have been changing from the closed arrangement to the open arrangement. Interior images were identified as static and simple except digital information space. Accordingly, public libraries have became needed to play a proper role of community facilities for local residents by planning furniture arrangements and conducting interior designs taking characteristics of many different users into consideration.

  • Installation art in 20th century shows an expanded trend as a result of material, time, or spatial expansion of subject, therefore subjects could be either materials or non-materials. This trend says that three elements-objet, space, and spectator-is inseparable essence of installation art. Nowadays, the borderline between installation art and everyday human life is getting indistinctive, and both Installation art and human life are becoming a part of another. By adapting the flexibility of installation art into the interior space, more interaction could happen, therefore, people will recognize spatial and visual character of Interior space as a visually satisfying Installed object. The main goal of this study is to understand changing of spatial composition in consequence of expressional variety as a result of dispersion of spatial elements. Especially, this study gives a fundamental ideas about private character of installations art in commercial spaces and expressional character of modern installations.

  • Recently designed residence complexes, there is an increasing interest in qualitative and quantitative improvement of not only the primary function of the residence, but also the community facilities designed for the convenience and welfare of its residents. Among such community facilities, an apartment's playground for children still remains in a traditional form and lacks the versatility required to satisfy the needs and interests of modern children, especially an age diverse child population. Therefore, this study intends to analyze the status of children's play facilities as community spaces, analyze the community's satisfaction with them, and suggest alternatives to the limited functions of children's play facilities in order to improve opportunities for neighbors to meet and build a stronger community.

  • The space is generally the discontinuation space without being understood agreed by some people. In this time, expressing transparency has various significances in furniture design because modern people want transparence and space due to the complication, numerous unreasonable facts and the lack of honesty in the society. Philip Johnson's Glass House in 1946 influenced architecture, interior, furniture and life article to use transparent materials and space that is being until currently development. The transparency which comes to be preferred clearly means to develop the society continuously. It can be more liberal, honest, and transparent society. The trend appeared in furniture design has meaning as the representative product. This research has perceptional transparency(visible transparency), abstract transparency through space(phenomenal transparency), overlap of surface element, display of line element, image using dot, and changing the image of various spaces.

  • 'Boundaries' are divided in various types and expressed in diverse ways. Since the progress of socio-cultural, scientific, technological and ideological changes has been so fast, spaces, including cities and their architecture, are also changing rapidly. It is really hard to catch the general flow of modern architectural situations and the logic behind them since they are very complicated and diverse. It is even more complicated to determine which architectural phases represent the same period and how to provide the accompanying characteristics. Therefore, in this study, the boundary has infinite possibilities. By how to provide the accompanying characteristics. Therefore, in this study, the boundary has infinite possibilities. By reorganizing the structure of the ambiguous boundary and what the ambiguous boundary means itself in the process of thinking of creative designers as well as encompassing spatial design. This study will suggest a formative possibility that can be applied as space.

  • This study set out to analyze James Turrell's Skyspace works by applying the object relations theory, compare them with several modern architectural works with a sky window based on the analysis results, and check common and differentiating features between them. The findings were as follows: first, Turrell's Skyspace works shed new light on the images of the sky by projecting inner light to the outside; second, sky windows in architecture make the self-representation of inner space clear through the introjection of light; third, 'Hill of the Buddha' reflects the most general aspect of the object relations theory as the nature of projection found in Turrell's Skyspace is added to it; and finally, Turrell installed event-like spaces and steps in 'Roden Crater' to apply the introjection of others that was deficient in Skyspace.

  • This paper shows a theoretical-reflective analysis on the importance of vocational training and value education to transition into models that are inclusive in cultural diversity, typical of the globalized and hyperconnected environment of modern societies. Interculturality is contextualized as a key element in linking teaching-learning processes with the uniqueness and problems associated with cultural ethnocentrism and alterity. In this sense, the work is part of a thematic review that contributes to the understanding, inclusion and recognition of cultural, racial and ethnic diversity in the different formal spaces of learning. As summary, value education and transversality are the basis for building educational interculturality in future generations.

  • Modern high-rise tower designs incorporating recessed balcony cavity spaces can be prone to high-frequency and narrow-band Rossiter aerodynamic excitations under glancing incident winds that can harmonize and compete with recessed balcony volume acoustic Helmholtz modes and facade elastic responses. Resulting resonant inertial wind loading to balcony facades responding to these excitations is additive to the peak design wind pressures currently allowed for in wind codes and can present as excessive facade vibrations and sub-audible throbbing in the serviceability range of wind speeds. This paper presents a methodology to determine Cavity Amplification Factors to account for façade resonant inertial wind loads resulting from balcony cavity aero-acoustic-elastic resonances by drawing upon field observations and the results of full-scale monitoring and model-scale wind tunnel tests. Recessed balcony cavities with single orifice type openings and located within curved façade tower geometries appear particularly prone. A Cavity Amplification Factor of 1.8 is calculated in one example representing almost a doubling of local façade design wind pressures. Balcony façade and tower design recommendations to mitigate wind induced aero-acoustic-elastic resonances are provided.

  • This study delves into the subtle sounds emanating from beneath the earth's surface to unveil hidden messages and the movements of life. It transforms these acoustic phenomena into digital data and reimagines them as visual elements. By employing Sismophone microphones and utilizing the FFT function in p5.js, it analyzes the intricate frequency components of subterranean sounds and translates them into various visual elements, including 3D geometric shapes, flowing lines, and moving particles. This project is grounded in the sounds recorded in diverse 'spaces of death,' ranging from the tombs of Joseon Dynasty officials to abandoned areas in modern cities. We leverage the power of sound to transcend space and time, conveying the concealed narratives and messages of forgotten places .Through the visualization of these sounds, this research blurs the boundaries between 'death' and 'life,' 'past' and 'present,' aiming to explore new forms of artistic expression and broaden perceptions through the sensory connection between sound and vision.

  • Many historical research and facet about modern art in Indonesia which formulating background of contemporary Indonesian Art. Indonesian art critic Sanento Yuliman states that Modern art has been rapidly developing in Indonesia since the Indonesian Independence in 1945. Modern Art is a part of the super culture of the Indonesian metropolitan and is closely related to the contact between the Indonesian and Western Cultures. Its birth was part of the nationalism project, when the Indonesian people consists of various ethnics were determined to become a new nation, the Indonesian nation, and they wished for a new culture, and therefore, a new art. The period 1960s, which was the beginning of the creation and development of the painters and the painters associations, was the first stage of the development of modern art in Indonesia. The second stage showed the important role of the higher education institutes for art. These institutes have developed since the 1950s and in the 1970s they were the main education institutes for painters and other artists. The artists awareness of the medium, forms or the organization of shapes were encouraged more intensely and these encouraged the exploring and experimental attitudes. Meanwhile, the information about the world's modern art, particularly Western Art; was widely and rapidly spread. The 1960s and 1970s were marked by the development of various abstractions and abstract art and the great number of explorations in various new media, like the experiment with collage, assemblage, mixed media. The works of the Neo Art Movement-group in the second half of the 1970s and in the 1980s shows environmental art and installations, influenced by the elements of popular art, from the commercial world and mass media, as well as the involvement of art in the social and environmental affairs. The issues about the environment, frequently launched by the intellectuals in the period of economic development starting in the 1970s, echoed among the artists, and they were widened in the social, art and cultural circles. The Indonesian economic development following the important change in the 1970s has caused a change in the life of the middle and upper class society, as has the change in various aspects of a big city, particularly Jakarta. The new genre emerged in 1975 which indicates contemporary art in Indonesia, when a group of young artists organized a movement, which was widely known as the Indonesian New Art Movement. This movement criticized international style, universalism and the long standing debate on an east-west-dichotomy. As far as the actual practice of the arts was concerned the movement criticized the domination of the art of painting and saw this as a sign of stagnation in Indonesian art development. Based on this criticism 'the movement' introduced ready-mades and installations (Jim Supangkat). Takes almost two decades that the New Art Movement activists were establishing Indonesian Installation art genre as contemporary paradigm and influenced the 1980's gene ration like, FX Harsono, Dadang Christanto, Arahmaiani, Tisna Sanjaya, Diyanto, Andarmanik, entering the 1990's decade as "rebellion period" ; reject towards established aesthetic mainstream i.e. painting, sculpture, graphic art which are insufficient to express "new language" and artistic needs especially to mediate social politic and cultural situation. Installation Art which contains open possibilities of creation become a vehicle for aesthetic establishment rejection and social politics stagnant expression in 1990s. Installation art accommodates two major field; first, the rejection of aesthetic establishment has a consequences an artists quest for medium; deconstruction models and cross disciplines into multi and intermedia i.e. performance, music, video etc. Second aspect is artists' social politic intention for changes, both conclude as characteristics of Indonesian Installation Art and establishing the freedom of expression in contemporary Indonesian Art until today.
