패널회귀모형에서 회귀계수 추정량의 설계기반 성질 (Design-based Properties of Least Square Estimators in Panel Regression Model)

  • 본 논문에서는 패널회귀모형에서 회귀계수 추정량으로 일반최소제곱추정량과 가중최소 제곱추정량의 설계기반 성질을 고찰한다. 회귀계수의 최소제곱추정량을 선형화하여 일반최소제곱추정량의 근사편향, 근사분산, 그리고 근사평균제곱오차의 수식과, 가중최소제곱추정량의 근사분산 수식을 유도한 후, 모의실험을 통하여 두 추정량의 근사분산 및 근사평균 제곱오차의 크기를 수치적으로 비교한다. 모의실험에서는 한국복지패널 3개년 데이터를 모집단으로 간주하고, 가구소득 변수를 관심변수로 하며 가구와 가구주 관련 7개 변수를 설명변수로 하는 유한모집단 회귀계수를 고려한다. 두 추정량의 설계기반 성질을 비교하기 위하여 표본수를 50에서 1,000까지 50 간격으로 설정하여 일반최소제곱추정량의 근사편향, 근사분산 그리고 가중최소제곱추정량의 근사분산을 계산한다. 모의실험을 통하여 다음과 같은 경향을 확인하였다. 첫째, 표본의 크기가 커지면 일반최소제곱추정량의 평균제곱오차가 가중최소제곱추정량의 분산보다 커진다. 둘째, 일반최소제곱추정량의 평균제곱오차를 가중최소제곱추정량의 분산으로 나눈비(ratio)는 설명변수에 따라 크기가 다르게 나타나고, 일반최소제곱추정량의 편향이 클수록 큰 값을 보인다. 셋째, 분산만 비교하면 일반최소제곱추정량의 분산이 가중최소제곱추정량의 분산보다 대부분의 경우에 더 작게 나타난다.

수확예측(收穫豫測) Model의 Multicollinearity 문제점(問題點) 해결(解決)을 위(爲)한 Ridge Regression의 이용(利用) (The Use Ridge Regression for Yield Prediction Models with Multicollinearity Problems)

  • 수확(收穫) 예측(豫測) model이 multicollinearity 문제점(問題點) 가질때 보다 정확한 추정식(推定式)을 얻기 위하여 두 종류의 ridge estimator와 최소(最小) 자승법(自乘法)(OLS)의 추정치를 비교(比較)하였다. 본 연구(硏究)에서 사용(使用)된 ridge estmator는 Mallows's (1973)Cp-like statistic과 Allens's (1974) PRESS-like statistic 이었다. 위의 세가지 estimator 예측(豫測) 능력(能力) 평가(評賣)는 Matney 등(等)(1988)에 의하여 개발(開發)된 수확(收穫) model을 이용(利用)하여 비교(比較)하였다. 사용되어진 자료(資料)는 미국(美國) 남부(南部) 테에다 소나무 시험림(試驗林)의 총(總)522개(個) plot을 이용(利用)하였다. 두 개(個)의 ridge estimator가 최소(最小) 자승법(自乘法)에 의한 추정치 보다 수확(收穫) 예측(豫測) 능력(能力)이 우수(優秀)하였으며, 특히 Mallows's statistic에 의한 ridge estimator가 가장 우수(優秀)하였다. 따라서 ridge estimator는 수확(收穫) 예측(豫測) model의 독립(獨立) 변수(變數) 간(間)에 multicollinearity 문제점(問題點)이 있을 때 최소(最小) 자승법(自乘法)에 의 한 추정치를 대치(代置)할 수 있는 estimator로서 추천(推薦)할 수 있었다.

VSC 유압유닛의 압력 추정기 및 제어기 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on Estimator and Controller Design of VSC Hydraulic Unit)

  • This paper presents modeling and ostimator/controller design for the hydraulic system in Vehicle Stability Control(VSC) system. A nonlinear mathematical model of the VSC hydraulic system is proposed and its accuracy is experimentally verified. A brake pressure estimator is then designed based on the derived mathematical model of VSC hydraulic system. And a disturbance observer, which compensates the estimation error between the brake pressure and the computed brake pressure is also designed to enhance the accuracy of the estimator. The proposed controller has the form of a feedback controller and determines explicitly the on/off ratio of valves' driving PWM signals by means of making use of the simplified mathematical model in the VSC hydraulic system. The performance of the designed controller whose feedback signal is generated by the brake pressure estimator is validated through experimental results.

Testing the Goodness of Fit of a Parametric Model via Smoothing Parameter Estimate

  • In this paper we propose a goodness-of-fit test statistic for testing the (null) parametric model versus the (alternative) nonparametric model. Most of existing nonparametric test statistics are based on the residuals which are obtained by regressing the data to a parametric model. Our test is based on the bootstrap estimator of the probability that the smoothing parameter estimator is infinite when fitting residuals to cubic smoothing spline. Power performance of this test is investigated and is compared with many other tests. Illustrative examples based on real data sets are given.

  • This thesis deals with the design problem of the state estimator for digital servo system. Digital servo system has input time delay, which depends on the size of control algorithm. The delayed input is a factor that brings out the state estimation error. So, in order to reduce this state estimation error of the system, we proposes a state estimator in which the delayed input of the system is considered. At first, a discrete-time state-space model is established accounting for the delayed input. Next, the state estimator is designed based on this model. we employ Kalman filter algorithm in design of the state estimator. The performance of proposed state estimator is exemplified via some simulations and experiment for servo system. And robustness of the proposed estimator to modelling error by variation of the system parameter is also shown in these simulations.

  • In the present paper, we propose a new randomization device free mail survey method. The estimator based on proposed model is unbiased and more efficient than the estimator based on SIngh, Mangat and Singh model (SMS-model)(1993) when $\pi$<1/2, and more protective than SMS-model in view of the protection of privacy regardless of the values of $\pi$ and $\pi_Y$ only if we count the number of say 'Yes' from the respondents. However, If we consider the respondents that say 'No', the SMS-model is more protective than our model.

  • In this paper we propose a parametric and a nonparametric small sample estimators for the mean residual life (MRL) under the random censorship model using the partial moment approximation. We also compare the proposed nonparametric estimator with the well-known nonparametric MRL estimator based on Kaplan-Meier estimator of the survival function, and present the efficiency of the nonparametric method relative to the Weibull model for small samples.

  • The current model based sensorless method has many benefits that it can be robust control for large load torque. However, this method should determine a coefficient of back electro motive force(back-emf). This coefficient is varied by load torque and speed. Also, the coefficient determining equation is not exist, so it is determined only by experiment. On the other hands, using only back-emf estimatior method can not drive in low speed area and it has weakness in load variation. For these problems, this paper suggests the hybrid sensorless method that mixes the back-emf estimator regarding saliency and the current based sensorless model. This estimator offers not only non-necessary coefficient for current sensorless model, but also wide speed area operating in no specific transition method.

A Robust Estimation for the Composite Lognormal-Pareto Model

  • Cooray and Ananda (2005) proposed a composite lognormal-Pareto model to analyze loss payment data in the actuarial and insurance industries. Their model is based on a lognormal density up to an unknown threshold value and a two-parameter Pareto density. In this paper, we implement the minimum density power divergence estimation for the composite lognormal-Pareto density. We compare the performances of the minimum density power divergence estimator (MDPDE) and the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) by simulations and an example. The minimum density power divergence estimator performs reasonably well against various violations in the distribution. The minimum density power divergence estimator better fits small observations and better resists against extraordinary large observations than the maximum likelihood estimator.

Low Pilot Ratio Channel Estimation for OFDM Systems Based on GCE-BEM

  • Doubly-selective channel estimator for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) systems is proposed in this paper. Based on the generalized complex exponential basis expansion model(GCE-BEM), we describe the time-variant channel with time-invariant coefficients over multiple OFDM blocks. The time variation of the channel destroys the orthogonality between subcarriers, and the resulting channel matrix in the frequency domain is no longer diagonal, but the main interference comes from the near subcarriers. Based on this, we propose a channel estimator with low pilot ratio. We first develop a least-square(LS) estimator under the assumption that only the maximum Doppler frequency and the channel order are known at the receiver, and then verify that the correlation matrix of inter-channel interference(ICI) is a scaled identity matrix based on which we derive an optimal pilot insertion scheme for the LS estimator in the sense of minimum mean square error. The proposed estimator has the advantages of low pilot ratio and robustness against inter-carrier interference.
