In the purpose of this study, the college textbooks of self-narrative writing and examples of classroom practice are analyzed to find a way to educate it. The self- narrative writing subject with a learning of recognization, expression, and communication with oneself, emphasizes the necessity when they become college students through entrance exam-oriented education. The research methods are as follows. Firstly, three university textbooks which include a section on self-narrative writing were compared and analyzed. The analysis highlights the needs for a textbook covering self-narrative writing more extensively and comprehensively as what is offered by the existing textbooks is limited in facilitating students to fully develop the ability of self-reflection, which should be dealt as a long-term goal. Secondly, the current discussion on self-narrative writing and examples of real classroom practice were analyzed. It shows that a step-by-step approach is required to encourage the practice of deep self-reflection to be incorporated into writing. In addition, during the writing process, various correction and feedback activities should be carried out on a macro level and gradually while the communication and feedback should take place not only between a teacher and students, but also among students. As a result, it is expected that this study will help establish a teaching model of self-narrative writing by seeking complementary points and educational directions for self-narrative writing.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a treatment program by types of underachiever developed from "electric voltage and current" section in the 8th grade science textbook. The program for the underachiever who have lack of basic knowledge and needs to learning aimed to improve their achievement and attitude toward science. For this study, 171 8th grade students were sampled and distributed to control and experimental group. Among them, 54 underachievers were identified. The underachievers were defined as science achievement level is below mean and IQ is above 90. The independent variables in this study were teaching method (traditional instruction and developed instruction) and types of underachiever. The dependent variables were students' achievement and attitude toward science. Pretest-posttest control group design was used. The main results of this study were that the treatment program emphasizing learning sheet activities based on LT(Learning Together) model had significant effect for underachievers who have lack of basic knowledge and needs to learning to increase their achievement and attitude toward science.
This is a study on an instruction of estimation for error correction in the calculation with a computer or a calculator. The aim of this study is to survey a new aspect of calaulation teaching and the teaching strategy of estimation and finally to frame a new curriculum model of estimation instruction. This research required a year and the outcomes of the research can be listed as follows: 1. Social utilities of estimation were made clear, and a new trend of calculation teaching related to estimation instruction was shown. 2. The definition of estimation was given and actual examples of conducting an estimation among pupils in lower grades were given for them to have abundant experiences. 3. The ways of finding estimating values in fraction and decimal fraction were presented for the pupils to be able to conduct an estimation. 4. The following contents were given as a basic strategy for estimation. 1) Front-end strategy 2) Clustering strategy 3) Rounding strategy 4) Compatible numbers strategy 5) Special numbers strategy 5. In an instuction of estimation the meaning, method. and process of calculation and calculating algorithm were reviewed for the cultivation of children's creativity through promoting their basic skill, mathematical thinking and problem-solving ability. 6. The following contents were also covered as an estimation strategy for measurement 1) Calculating the sense of quantity on the size of unit. 2) Estimating the total quantity by frequent repetition of unit quantity. 3) Estimating the length and the volume by weighing. 4) Estimating unknown quantity based on the quatity already known. 5) Estimating the area by means of equivalent area transformation. 7. The ways of instructing mental computation were presented. 8. Reviews were made on the curricular and the textbook contents concerning estimation instructions both in Korea and Japan. and a new model of curriculum was devised with reference to estimation instruction data of the United States.
Previous studies on double scale models, visual models with two different scales (Chong, 2015), have focused on double number line and little research has been conducted on how to employ double scale models in the elementary mathematics textbooks series. Given this, we analyzed the characteristics of double scale models in the Japanese elementary mathematics textbooks in the following aspects: (a) the contents of units where double scale models were used; (b) the purposes of using such models; (c) the types of such models tailored to the contents and grade levels; and (d) the characteristics of problem contexts dealing with the models. The results of this study showed that double scale models were effectively used to connect the contents related to multiplication, specifically for the contexts of ratio. Such models were addressed for students in a systematic and gradual way as the grade levels went up. Based on these results, this paper describes implications on how to use double scale models in mathematics textbooks.

'Divisor and multiple' is the topic included both in the elementary and in the secondary mathematics curriculum, but there has been lack of research on it. It has been reported that students have a difficulty in understanding the meaning of the greatest common divisor (GCD) and the least common multiple (LCM), while they can find out GCD and LCM. Against the lack of research on how to overcome this difficulty, this study designed teaching methods with a model for visualization to emphasize the meanings of divisor and multiple in finding out GCD and LCM, and implemented the methods in one fourth grade classroom. A questionnaire was developed to explore students' solution methods and interviews with focused students were implemented. In addition, fourth-grade students' thinking was compared and contrasted with fifth-grade students who studied divisor and multiple with the current textbook. The results of this study showed that the teaching methods with a specific model for visualization had a positive impact on students' conceptual understanding of the process to find out GCD and LCM. As such, this study provides instructional implications on how to foster the meanings of finding out GCD and LCM at the elementary school.
The purpose of this study was to present a methodology for reconstructing the curriculum to provide appropriate music education to students with special needs in inclusive classrooms. This study presents a customizing music curriculum reconstructing model for students with special needs. This model consists of six stages: analyzing students' characteristics and educational needs, analyzing the common music curriculum and basic music curriculum, establishing specified assessment criteria for achievement standards, analyzing the music textbook for the common curriculum and basic curriculum, reorganizing educational activities in music units, and conducting differentiated music instruction. This study presents an example of the customization process and focuses on a creative music activity for students with intellectual disabilities. Recommendations and guidelines for reconstructing the curriculum to best meet the educational needs of students with special needs are provided.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects on particulate concept formation based on abductive reasoning model for elementary science class. For this study, an author selected two groups in the sixth grade. One group is an ordinary textbook-based control group (N=26) and the other group is an abductive reasoning model-based treatment group (N=26). After twelve lessons, the scores of Concepts Test for Gas were analyzed by t-test and two-way ANOVA. The result of t-test showed both the control and treatment groups have higher score than before they take the lesson. But after the lesson, an author found out that the treatment group had higher score than that of the control group. And compared to the number of particles expressed, the number of the treatment group were higher than that of the control class. The two-way ANOVA result revealed that the interaction effect between their cognitive level and treatment was not significant. And regardless of the level of cognition, the scores of treatment group are higher than those of control group. Therefore, abductive reasoning model-based elementary science class were found to be more effective for particulate concept formation. Based on the results, an author concluded that abductive reasoning model is very effective in teaching particulate concepts to elementary students.

This study aims to explore how in-service science teachers adopt newly developed 'Science' focusing on the fusion of science based on 'the diffusion of innovation' model. For this study, we have explored five variables (i.e., perception of need, perception of support, innovativeness, perceived usefulness, self-efficacy of teaching, and intention to adopt) based on literature review and developed survey items to measure the level of five variables that in-service science teachers perceive. In addition, the path model of six variables explaining how in-service science teachers adopt an innovation was hypothesized by the literature review. A total of 349 in-service science teachers have participated in this survey study. First of all, results have illustrated that the levels of six variables have not significantly associated with in-service science teachers' teaching experiences, participation in professional development programs on 'Science' curriculum, and majors. In addition, the statistically acceptable model fit indices have illustrated that path model has been statistically valid to explain how in-service science teachers adopt newly developed 'Science' focusing on the fusion of science. The results have also illustrated that 'perception of support', 'perceived usefulness', and 'self-efficacy of teaching' exhibited strong mediating effects between other variables. For the successful establishment of newly developed curricula, textbook, or policies in science education in school, the level of teachers' intention to adopt innovations should be enhanced. This study will be useful for the development of new science teacher professional development programs to promote the level of teachers' intention to adopt innovations.
