The evaluation of the print quality of 3D printing has traditionally relied on manual work using dimensional measurements. However, the dimensional measurement method has an error value that depends on the person who measures it. Therefore, we propose the design of a new print quality measurement method that can be automatically measured using the field-of-view (FOV) model and the intersection over union (IoU) technique. First, the height information of the modeling is acquired from a camera; the output is measured by a sensor; and the images of the top and isometric views are acquired from the FOV model. The height information calculates the height ratio by calculating the percentage of modeling and output, and compares the 2D contour of the object on the image using the FOV model. The contour of the object is obtained from the image for 2D contour comparison and the IoU is calculated by comparing the areas of the contour regions. The accuracy of the automated measurement technique for determining, which derives the print quality value was calculated by averaging the IoU value corrected by the measurement error and the height ratio value.
At present the most popular turbulence models used for engineering solutions to flow problems are the $k-{\varepsilon}$ and Reynolds stress models. The shortcoming of these models based on the isotropic eddy viscosity concept and Reynolds averaging in flow fields of the type found in the field of Wind Engineering are well documented. In view of these shortcomings this paper presents the implementation of a non-linear model and its evaluation for flow around a building. Tests were undertaken using the classical bluff body shape, a surface mounted cube, with orientations both normal and skewed at $45^{\circ}$ to the incident wind. Full-scale investigations have been undertaken at the Silsoe Research Institute with a 6 m surface mounted cube and a fetch of roughness height equal to 0.01 m. All tests were originally undertaken for a number of turbulence models including the standard, RNG and MMK $k-{\varepsilon}$ models and the differential stress model. The sensitivity of the CFD results to a number of solver parameters was tested. The accuracy of the turbulence model used was deduced by comparison to the full-scale predicted roof and wake recirculation zone lengths. Mean values of the predicted pressure coefficients were used to further validate the turbulence models. Preliminary comparisons have also been made with available published experimental and large eddy simulation data. Initial investigations suggested that a suitable turbulence model should be able to model the anisotropy of turbulent flow such as the Reynolds stress model whilst maintaining the ease of use and computational stability of the two equations models. Therefore development work concentrated on non-linear quadratic and cubic expansions of the Boussinesq eddy viscosity assumption. Comparisons of these with models based on an isotropic assumption are presented along with comparisons with measured data.

The research presented here represents a collaborative effort with the SFWMD on developing scenarios for future climate for the SFWMD area. The project focuses on developing methodology for simulating precipitation representing both natural quasi-oscillatory modes of variability in these climate variables and also the secular trends projected by the IPCC scenarios that are publicly available. This study specifically provides the results for precipitation modeling. The starting point for the modeling was the work of Tebaldi et al that is considered one of the benchmarks for bias correction and model combination in this context. This model was extended in the framework of a Hierarchical Bayesian Model (HBM) to formally and simultaneously consider biases between the models and observations over the historical period and trends in the observations and models out to the end of the 21st century in line with the different ensemble model simulations from the IPCC scenarios. The low frequency variability is modeled using the previously developed Wavelet Autoregressive Model (WARM), with a correction to preserve the variance associated with the full series from the HBM projections. The assumption here is that there is no useful information in the IPCC models as to the change in the low frequency variability of the regional, seasonal precipitation. This assumption is based on a preliminary analysis of these models historical and future output. Thus, preserving the low frequency structure from the historical series into the future emerges as a pragmatic goal. We find that there are significant biases between the observations and the base case scenarios for precipitation. The biases vary across models, and are shrunk using posterior maximum likelihood to allow some models to depart from the central tendency while allowing others to cluster and reduce biases by averaging. The projected changes in the future precipitation are small compared to the bias between model base run and observations and also relative to the inter-annual and decadal variability in the precipitation.

The estimation of key soil properties and subsequent quantitative assessment of the associated uncertainties has always been an important issue in geotechnical engineering. It is well recognized that soil properties vary spatially as a result of depositional and post-depositional processes. The stochastic nature of spatially varying soil properties can be treated as a random field. A practical statistical approach that can be used to systematically model various sources of uncertainty is presented in the context of reliability analysis of slope stability Newly developed expressions for probabilistic characterization of soil properties incorporate sampling and measurement errors, as well as spatial variability and its reduced variance due to spatial averaging. Reliability analyses of the probability of slope failure using the different statistical representations of soil properties show that the incorporation of spatial correlation and conditional simulation leads to significantly lower probability of failure than obtained using simple random variable approach.
This paper deals with application of a non-linear continuum model for reinforced concrete affected by alkali-aggregate reaction (AAR) to analysis of some nuclear structures. The macroscopic behaviour of the material affected by AAR is described by incorporating a homogenization/averaging procedure. The formulation addresses the main stages of the deformation process, i.e., a homogeneous deformation mode as well as that involving localized deformation, associated with formation of macrocracks. The formulation is applied to examine the mechanical behaviour of some reinforced concrete structures in nuclear power facilities located in Quebec (Canada). First, a containment structure is analyzed subjected to 45 years of continuing AAR. Later, an inelastic analysis is carried out for the spent fuel pool taking into account the interaction with the adjacent jointed rock mass foundation. In the latter case, the structure is said to be subjected to continuing AAR that is followed by a seismic event.

Surrogate modeling is applied to a compressor blade shape optimization to modify its stacking line and thickness to enhance adiabatic efficiency and total pressure ratio. Six design variables are defined by parametric curves and three objectives; efficiency, total pressure and a combined objective of efficiency and total pressure are considered to enhance the performance of compressor blade. Latin hypercube sampling of design of experiments is used to generate 55 designs within design space constituted by the lower and upper limits of variables. Optimum designs are found by formulating a PRESS (predicted error sum of squares) based averaging (PBA) surrogate model with the help of a gradient based optimization algorithm. The optimum designs using the current variables show that, to optimize the performance of turbomachinery blade, the adiabatic efficiency objective is improved substantially while total pressure ratio objective is increased a very small amount. The multi-objective optimization shows that the efficiency can be increased with the less compensation of total pressure reduction or both objectives can be increased simultaneously.

The conventional control techniques based a mathematical model are not well suited for dealing with ill-defined and uncertain system like a linear quadratic control. Recently, fuzzy control has been successfully applied to a wide variety of practical problems such as robot, water purification, automatic train operation system etc. In this paper, a design technique of robust Fuzzy-LQ controller for each subsystem is designed. Secondly , all the subsystem controllers are combined by fuzzy weighted averaging method. Finally the effectiveness of the proposed controller is verified through a series of computer simulations for an inverted pole system.
In the present numerical analysis, investigation of the effect of blade loadings from design shape on the slip factor variation was studied. Both the Eckardt radial bladed impeller and the backswept impeller were analyzed. In addition, a new design of the blade profile was arbitrarily attempted to generate a center-loading pattern in the original backswept impeller. Three dimensional compressible Navier-Stokes flow analysis with the Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model was applied to get the numerical slip factor at each impeller exit plane using the mass-averaging technique. The numerical slip (actors are in good agreement with the experimental ones and the Wiesner's slip factors deviate further from the numerical and experimental ones in both backswept impellers. Deviation angles and meridional channel loadings are found in no relation with the trend of change of the slip factor. Blade-to-blade loadings in midspan location are, however, found to have a direct relationship, especially at the sections where maximum loadings we to be expected. That information can be utilized in establishing an improved expression for slip factors in the future.

The problem of information related to I poission experiments, each having a distinct failure rate $\theta$i I=1,2,…,I, is considered. Instead of using a standard exchangeable prior for $\theta$=($\theta$1,$\theta$2,…,$\theta$I), we consider a partition of the experiments and take the $\theta$i's belonging to the same partition subgroup to be exchangeable and the $\theta$i's belonging to distinct subgroups to be independent. And we perform Gibbs sampling approach for Bayesian inference on $\theta$ conditional on a partition. Numerical study using real data is provided.
