  • Communication in delay tolerant networks (DTNs) relies on message transport by mobile nodes, and a correct understanding of the node mobility characteristics is therefore crucial to the design of an efficient DTN routing protocol. However, previous work has mainly focused on uncovering all behaviors of node movement, which is not conducive to accurately detecting the specific movement characteristics of a different node. In this paper, we seek to address this problem based on a consideration of social relationships. We first consider social ties from both static and dynamic perspectives. For a static perspective, in addition to certain accidental events, social relations are considered for a long time granularity and tend to be stable over time. For a dynamic perspective, social relations are analyzed in a relatively short time granularity and are likely to change over time. Based on these perspectives, we adopted different efficient approaches to dividing node pairs into two classes, i.e., familiar and unfamiliar pairs. A threshold approach is used for static social ties whereas a density-based aggregation method is used for dynamic social relationships. Extensive experimental results show that both familiar and unfamiliar node pairs have the same inter-contact time distribution, which closely follows a power-law decay up to a certain point, beyond which it begins to exponentially decay. The results also demonstrate that the inter-contact time distribution of familiar pairs decays faster than that of unfamiliar pairs, whether from a static or dynamic perspective. In addition, we also analyze the reason for the difference between the inter-contact time distributions of both unfamiliar and familiar pairs.

  • Purpose Recently, with the enhancement of mobile technologies, people have formed various relationships and spreaded networks on social network service(SNS). In addition, although people make a decision based on the thoughts and emotions about self, there is little empirical research on social relations and self-construal of users in social network game (SNG). Design/methodology/approach This study was designed to examine the structural relationships among SNG users' social capital, self-construal, behavioral adaptation, SNG reuse intention and charged item purchasing intention. Findings The results from this study are as follow. First of all, the bonding social capital did not have a significant impact on behavioral adaptation to SNG, but bridging social capital had a positive impact on behavioral adaptation. Second, independent self-construal did not have a significant impact on behavioral adaptation to SNG, but interdependent self-construal had a positive impact on behavioral adaptation. Lastly, the behavioral adaptation to SNG had a positive impact reuse intention and charged item purchasing intention. Also, SNG reuse intention had a positive impact on charged item purchasing intention.

  • On top of presenting the possibility of expanding the game space to social space through mobile communication, MSNG reinforces the strengths of SNS and the fun of games through closer networks between users. This study empirically verified the effects of the characteristics of MSNG on interactions and user satisfaction by dividing the main characteristics of MSNG into graphics, challenge spirit, and reward, and then dividing the main characteristics of mobile social network service into social interaction and technical interaction. In the results of study, the main characteristics of MSNG such as graphics, challenge spirit, and reward all had significant effects on the social interaction and technical interaction while the social interaction and technical interaction of MSNG also had significant effects on the user satisfaction, so that the hypotheses of this study were all selected. The influence of the characteristics of MSNG on interactions might be because of shared feedbacks through graphics, game tasks, and reward in the performance process of MSNG, and such interactions make diverse people have the horizontal or circular communication, which is led to the increase of user satisfaction.

  • Mobile games have emerged as the most innovative entertainment technology, adding new revenue streams, taking advantage of the potential of wireless applications and service offerings. Mobile games, like any other types of computer game, offer a unique value for users in providing an exciting digital experience in virtual worlds. Players can become empowered through the development of new characters and strategies within games to achieve rewarding successes against the computers and other players. The overall trend for mobile games is towards bigger, more colorful, more involving and exciting contents, which will build upon the developing capabilities of mobile phones and networks in order to bring new styles, concepts and experiences of game play to the users. In this paper, we attempt to investigate the demographic factors which play critical roles in determining the level of playing times; classify mobile gamers based on their motives for playing games; and empirically test differences in their demographic factors and mobile game usage. Statistical results show that significant differences in playing times exist, depending upon their age, gender, mobile device, mobile phone usage, mobile game experiences, and preferred games genres. Applying Factor analysis, we have identified Escape, Social interaction, Challenge and Competition, Fantasy, Diversion and Relaxation, Ease of Accessibility as key motivators for playing mobile games. Additional cluster analysis shows that the categorization of gamers, according to their usage habits and the key motivators for playing, can be made as follows: M-gamers, Multi-gamers and Communication-focused gamers. Further correlation of these grouping with socio-economic data shows the significant differences in gaming habits and patterns of mobile phone use.

  • People usually check their social media, e-mail, and online news on their smartphones using their carrier network. During this process, much of the data traffic is offloaded to ubiquitous Wi-Fi networks. Such offloading will continue to increase rapidly because of flourishing public Wi-Fi networks located around the world. In this technical report, we first investigate domestic public Wi-Fi projects, and followed by foreign projects. In addition, we investigate the Wi-Fi technology evolution that has been standardized in IEEE 802. More and more people are tending to use Wi-Fi, not only at home or work, but also on public transport such as buses and trains. Hence, it is important to come up with ideas that can realize Wi-Fi onboard. The key technologies needed here are related to a mobile wireless backhaul between trains and trackside radio equipment, or between buses and roadside units. Thus, we also investigate the mobile wireless backhaul technologies and their trends.

  • Because people usually establish their online social network based on their offline relationship, the social networks (i.e., the graph of friendship relationships) are often used to share contents. Mobile devices let it easier in these days, but it also increases the privacy risk such as access control of shared data and relationship exposure to untrusted server. To control the access on encrypted data and protect relationship from the server, M. Atallah et al. proposed a hop-based scheme in 2009. Their scheme assumed a distributed environment such as p2p, and each user in it shares encrypted data on their social network. On the other hand, it is very inefficient to keep their relationship private, so we propose an improved scheme. In this paper, among encrypted contents and relationships, some authenticated users can only access the data in distributed way. For this, we adopt 'circular-secure symmetric encryption' first. Proposed scheme guarantees the improved security and efficiency compared to the previous work.

  • As netizens increasingly utilize social media to obtain and engage with information, this study aims to determine the extent to which the follower-influencer interaction is manifested and strengthened. To analyze information related to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), a total of 62,119 online posts from 11 Internet forums were examined to find a relationship between followers and influencers in Taiwan. These forums are PTT, SOGO, Ck101, Plurk, Mobile01, TalkFetnet, Gamez, PlaySport, Dcard, Eyny, and PCDVD. The variables that were the best predictors of influencer classification were strong influences, engagements, and hot values across 11 Internet forums. Learning the response to the COVID-19 pandemic is vital because public actions could have been fueled by stigmatizing terms that may harm public health and well-being. The results questioned the conventional diffusion of traditional news sources because the influencers brought widespread attention to the health threat issues in the early outbreak stages. This study enhances the understanding of forum types, follower engagement, and influencers' impact maximization in social networks. The conclusion provides insight into the relationships and information diffusion mechanisms to ensure accurate health information dissemination.

  • With the rapid evolution of mobile devices and the development of wireless networks, users of mobile social network service on smartphone have been increasing. Also the security of personal information as a result of real-time communication and information-sharing are becoming a serious social issue. In this paper, a framework that can be linked with a social network services platform is designed using OpenAPI. In addition, we propose an authentication and detection mechanism to enhance the level of personal information security. The authentication scheme is based on an user ID and password, while the detection scheme analyzes user-designated input patterns to verify in advance whether personal information protection guidelines are met, enhancing the level of personal information security in a social network service environment. The effectiveness and validity of this study were confirmed through performance evaluations at the end.

  • Online social networking services help people to migrate social networks from offline to online. Twitter, which has achieved incredible growth, showed that an online social networking service without offline bases can become large and successful. In this paper, we propose a twitter friend notification service using user‘s twitter messages and place recognizing technology. When there is a friend in user‘s nearby place, the service notifies the information to the users. Through the friend notification service, a user can easily extend his online social network to offline.
