  • In recent years, there have been active researches on the services of the next generation mobile communications. In particular, the services in the next generation mobile communications differ from the services in the conventional mobile communication services that they can provide the services customized at each user. The profile management technology becomes more important for such personalized services since it is closely related with providing services adaptively to user's current situation and preferences. However, the conventional profile management technologies have their limitations on providing personalized services because they put most of emphasis on the customer management. Even, it becomes more difficult with current profile management system to support the personalized services, where the service providers manage the user profiles independently each other. In this paper, we propose a novel profile management system called profile service provider, and describe the requirements to support personalized services in the next generation mobile communications.

  • For the low-power design of the mobile multimedia system architecture, this paper modeling the mobile multimedia system and analysis the power consumption profile about the whole communication environment. The mobile system model consist of air interface, RIP front-end, base-band processing module and human interface. For the result of power consumption profile analysis, the power consumption of multimedia processing is above 60% compare to the whole power consumption in mobile multimedia system. To minimize the power consumption in processing module which consumes the large power, this paper proposed the Microscopic DVS technique which applies the optimum voltage for the each multimedia frame. For the simulation result, proposed power minimization technique reduce the power consumption about 30%.

  • In this paper, various power delay profiles (PDP) are simulated to study the influence of the PDP shape on the bit error rate (BER) performance of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) communication systems. Assuming Rayleigh fading with 16-QAM modulation scheme, the simulation focuses on the investigation of the various shapes of the PDP which are often characterized by peaks, slope, attenuation and distance of an echo profile of waves. This yields information about the properties of the channel, and can be applied to decide the performance of the systems according to the channel.

  • Mobile wireless networks continue to be plagued by theft of identify and intrusion. Both problems can be addressed in two different ways, either by misuse detection or anomaly-based detection. In this paper, we propose a dissimilarity-based anomaly detection method which can effectively identify abnormal behavior such as mobility patterns of mobile wireless networks. In the proposed algorithm, a normal profile is constructed from normal mobility patterns of mobile nodes in mobile wireless networks. From the constructed normal profile, a dissimilarity is computed by a weighted dissimilarity measure. If the value of the weighted dissimilarity measure is greater than the dissimilarity threshold that is a system parameter, an alert message is occurred. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated through a simulation. From the result of the simulation, we know that the proposed method is superior to the performance of other anomaly detection methods using dissimilarity measures.

  • It is expected that per-user customized services are widely used in next generation Personal Communication Network. To provide personalized services for each call, per-user service profiles are frequently referenced and signaling traffic is considerably large. Since the service calls are requested from the places where user stays, we can expect that the traffic is localized. In this paper, we propose a new service profile replication scheme, named Follow-Me Replication with local Anchor (FMRA). By replicating user's service profile in a user-specific location area, local anchor of each region, the signaling traffic for call and mobility can be distributed to local network. We compared the performance of the FMRA with two typical schemes: Intelligent Network-based !Central scheme and IMT-2000 based full replication scheme, as we refer it to Follow-Me Replication Unconditional (FMRU). Performance results indicate that FMRA lies between Central and FMRU schemes according to call to mobility ratio, and we identified the efficient ranges of CMR for FMRA depending on the various network parameters.

  • Frequent occurrence of binding update messages may incur high overhead in Mobile IP supporting users mobility. Thus, it needs to develop algorithms to deal with the situation. In this paper, we propose new lifetime assignment schemes for dynamic binding update considering the locality property related with mobile node's movement. Each mobile node maintains a profile which is based on log containing useful information about its visiting subnets. That is, it determines dynamic binding update lifetime for currently visiting subnet by computing past mean resident time recorded in the profile. In addition, we note that the resident time depends on the time when each node enters a subnet and thus, we devise another lifetime assignment algorithm. Extensive experiments are made to compare our schemes with existing Mobile IPv6 where major facts for performance comparison are both the number of binding update messages and the number of binding request messages. From the results, we come to know that our schemes obtain highly considerable performance improvements in terms of communication cost by decreasing the number of those messages.

  • A mobile antenna for multimedia communications with Ku-band geostationary satellite KOREASAT-3 and JSAT-2A is presented. The forward link of the satellite communication is 11.7 to 12.75 GHz, and the return link is 14.0 to 14.5 GHz. The mobile antenna is designed to be a stair structure using 24 active phased array elements in order to provide a low profile, and to be at a non-periodic array distance using the genetic algorithm. Also, the designed antenna uses the double beam forming method for stable satellite tracking. The fabricated mobile antenna is examined using various experiments to confirm its capability for practical application. From the measured results, the fabricated mobile antenna system is confirmed to have a good performance.

  • In recent years mobile phone handset terminal has tended to have additional various functions and slim and light weight, and its internal space is getting smaller and narrower. According to complex parts, small and narrow inner space is caused not sufficient bandwidth and lower impedance. Moreover, additional polarization loss by the surrounding parts produces is lower effectiveness and increases difficulties for getting the antenna gain. For IFA is low profile structure based on the ILA(Inverted L Antenna) which is transformed from the monopole antenna. While this antenna has lots of advantages in internal antenna of mobile phone, it has some disadvantage of reduced bandwidth and gains compared with monopole antenna. In this paper, propose vlade hybrid antenna use for the coupling structure.

  • The development of mobile devices and the spread of wireless network help share and exchange information and resources more easily. The bond them to Cloud Computing technology help pay attention to "Mobile Cloud" service, so there have been being a lot of studies on "Mobile Cloud" service. Especially, the important of 'Recommendation Service' which is customized for each user's preference and context has been increasing. In order to provide appropriate recommendation services, it enables to recognize user's current state, analyze the user's profile like user's tendency and preference, and draw the service answering the user's request. Most existing frameworks, however, are not very suitable for mobile devices because they were proposed on the web-based. And other context information except location information among user's context information are not much considered. Therefore, this paper proposed the context-aware framework, which provides more suitable services by using user's context and profile.

  • Different wireless technologies have been developed for various mobile applications. To offer seamless service in next mobile communication systems, it needs handoff service between heterogeneous mobile access networks. A high data rate handoff call from WLAN to cellular mobile network can increase rapidly the blocking probability of BS of cellular mobile network. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new handoff scheme based on user service profiles. The performances of the proposed scheme are evaluated using computer simulations.
