The experiments on some organic materials used in SAPS are carried out for the better sulfate reduction efficiency and the longer lifetime. Organic materials include spent mushroom compost, sewage sludge, oak chip compost and the combination of there. Reactors with mushroom compost, sewage sludge, the mixture of mushroom compost and sewage sludge, and the mixture of mushroom compost and oak chip compost maintained pH higher than 6.0. Reactors with mushroom compost, the mixture of mushroom compost and sewage sludge, and the mixture of mushroom compost and oak chip compost maintained reduction condition. Reactors with sewage sludge, oak chip compost and the mixture of sewage and oak chip compost produced COD less than 2,000ppm. Reactors with sewage and the mixture of mushroom compost, sewage sludge, oak chip compost showed about 60% of sulfate removal ratios.
The hydrogen reduction behavior of $MoO_3-CuO$ powder mixture for the synthesis of homogeneous Mo-20 wt% Cu composite powder is investigated. The reduction behavior of ball-milled powder mixture is analyzed by XRD and temperature programmed reduction method at various heating rates in Ar-10% $H_2$ atmosphere. The XRD analysis of the heat-treated powder at $300^{\circ}C$ shows Cu, $MoO_3$, and $Cu_2MoO_5$ phases. In contrast, the powder mixture heated at $400^{\circ}C$ is composed of Cu and $MoO_2$ phases. The hydrogen reduction kinetic is evaluated by the amount of peak shift with heating rates. The activation energies for the reduction, estimated by the slope of the Kissinger plot, are measured as 112.2 kJ/mol and 65.2 kJ/mol, depending on the reduction steps from CuO to Cu and from $MoO_3$ to $MoO_2$, respectively. The measured activation energy for the reduction of $MoO_3$ is explained by the effect of pre-reduced Cu particles. The powder mixture, hydrogen-reduced at $700^{\circ}C$, shows the dispersion of nano-sized Cu agglomerates on the surface of Mo powders.
In the present study, the focus is on the effect of cobalt oxide powder in the carbothermal reduction of the titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder by solid carbon for the optimizing synthesis process of ultra fine TiC/Co composite powder. The titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder was prepared by the combination of the spray drying and desalting processes using the titanium dioxide powder and cobalt nitrate as the raw materials. The titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder was mixed with carbon black, and then this mixture was carbothermally reduced under flowing argon atmosphere. Changes in the phase structure and thermal gravity of the mixture during carbothermal reduction were analysed using XRD and TGA. Titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder desalted at $600^{\circ}C$ had a mixture of $TiO_2\;and\;Co_{3}O_4$. And the one desalted at $800^{\circ}C$ had a mixture of $TiO_2\;and\;CoTiO_3$. In the case of the former powder, the reduction of cobalt oxide powder in the titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder occurred at lower temperature than the latter one. However, the carbothermal reduction of titanium dioxide powder in the titanium-cobalt-oxygen based oxide powder with a mixture of $TiO_2\;and\;Co_{3}O_4$ occurred at higher temperature than the one with a mixture of $TiO_2\;and\;CoTiO_3$. And also, the former powder showed a lower TiC formation ability than the latter one.
Nanotechnology is an upcoming technology that can provide solution for combating pollution by controlling shape and size of materials at the nanoscale. This review provides comprehensive information regarding the role of nanotechnology in pollution control at concrete structures. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles are a good item for concrete structures for diminishing the air polluting affect by gasses of exhaust. In this article, the mixture rule is presented for the effect of nanoparticles in environmental pollution reduction in concrete structures. The compressive strength, elastic modulus and reduction of steel bars in the concrete structures are studied. The Results show that TiO2 nanoparticles have significant effect on the reduction of environmental pollution and increase of stiffness in the concrete structures. In addition, the nanoparticles can reduce the use of steel bars in the concrete structure.
The hydrogen reduction behavior of the $CuO-SCo_3O_4$ powder mixture for the synthesis of the homogeneous Cu-15at%Co composite powder has been investigated. The composite powder is prepared by ball milling the oxide powders, followed by a hydrogen reduction process. The reduction behavior of the ball-milled powder mixture is analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and temperature-programmed reduction at different heating rates in an Ar-10%H2 atmosphere. The scanning electron microscopy and XRD results reveal that the hydrogen-reduced powder mixture is composed of fine agglomerates of nanosized Cu and Co particles. The hydrogen reduction kinetics is studied by determining the degree of peak shift as a function of the heating rate. The activation energies for the reduction of the oxide powders estimated from the slopes of the Kissinger plots are 58.1 kJ/mol and 65.8 kJ/mol, depending on the reduction reaction: CuO to Cu and $SCo_3O_4$ to Co, respectively. The measured temperature and activation energy for the reduction of $SCo_3O_4$ are explained on the basis of the effect of pre-reduced Cu particles.

This paper proposes a method for sufficient dimension reduction (SDR) of mixture data. We consider mixture data containing more than one component that have distinct central subspaces. We adopt an approach of a model-based sliced inverse regression (MSIR) to the mixture data in a simple and intuitive manner. We employed mixture probabilistic principal component analysis (MPPCA) to estimate each central subspaces and cluster the data points. The results from simulation studies and a real data set show that our method is satisfactory to catch appropriate central spaces and is also robust regardless of the number of slices chosen. Discussions about root selection, estimation accuracy, and classification with initial value issues of MPPCA and its related simulation results are also provided.
The synthesis and characteristics of W-Ni-Fe nanocomposite powder by hydrogen reduction of ball milled W-Ni-Fe oxide mixture were investigated. The ball milled oxide mixture was prepared by high energy attrition milling of W blue powder, NiO and $Fe_2O_3$ for 1 h. The structure of the oxide mixture was characteristic of nano porous agglomerate composite powder consisting of nanoscale particles and pores which act as effective removal path of water vapor during hydrogen reduction process. The reduction experiment showed that the reduction reaction starts from NiO, followed by $Fe_2O_3$ and finally W oxide. It was also found that during the reduction process rapid alloying of Ni-Fe yielded the formation of $\gamma$-Ni-Fe. After reduction at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 h, the nano-composite powder of W-4.57Ni-2.34Fe comprising W and $\gamma$-Ni-Fe phases was produced, of which grain size was35nm for W and 87 nm for $\gamma$-Ni-Fe, respectively. Sinterability of the W heavy alloy nanopowder showing full density and sound microstructure under the condition of 147$0^{\circ}C$/20 min is thought to be suitable for raw material for powder injection molding of tungsten heavy alloy.

This paper has dealt with the effect of non ionized surfactant and water mixture on drag reduction and heat transfer enhancement in a circular pipe flow with experimentally. The test section was consisted of stainless steel pipe with inside diameter of 16mm. The wire coil was used to increase heat transfer in a pipe and the on ionized surfactant(Oleyl Dihydroxyethyl Amino Oxide, ODEAO) was used to reduce the drag force of water mixture with surfactant. The main parameters of this experiment were diameter and pitch of wire coil and the ratio of test section length and horizontal wire coil length. In this experiment, the acquired results were 1) Drag reduction effect existed in this ODEAO-water mixture, 2) Friction factor and heat transfer were increased with insertion the heat transfer enhancement coil, 3) With increasing of pitch ratio, heat transfer was decreased, and 4) Heat transfer was decreased by the decreasing of inserting coil diameter.

In this study, the mechanical properties, absorption, and reduction performance of NOx in the mortar containing mineral admixture like zeolite and active hwangtoh were evaluated. Zeolite and active hwangtoh were used as binder, and zeolite and active hwangtoh were substituted for cement. The substitution ratio of two types of mineral admixtures was considered as 20 and 30% respectively. As a result of evaluating the compressive strength and flexural strength of each mortar specimen, the highest strength in the plain mixture was evaluated. As the substitution ratio of zeolite and active hwangtoh increased, the compressive and flexural strength decreased. In addition, the difference of compressive and flexural strength between active hwangtoh and zeolite mixing was evaluated to be insignificant. To evaluate the absorption rate, the mixture was designed to lower the W/B ratio of the existing mixture and set the substitution ratio of active hwangtoh and zeolite at 25%. The highest absorption ratio in the mortar with zeolite was evaluated, and the difference in absorption ratio between the remaining two mortar mixtures was small. The assessment of reduction performance of NOx considering the application of photocatalyst showed a clearly decreasing reduction behavior, even if they were the same mortar mixture. Zeolite and active hwangtoh also showed a higher NOx reduction than the Plain mixture, because of their porosity properties. In the case of active hwangtoh, the absorption ratio was lower than that of zeolite mixture, but the reduction of NOx performance was better than the result of zeolite mixture.
Unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of high plasticity clayey soil mixed with 5 and 10 % of Portland cement and four chemical agents such as sodium hexametaphosphate, aluminum sulfate, sodium carbonate, and sodium silicate with 0, 5, 10, and 20% concentrations was comparatively evaluated. The individual and combined effects of the cement and chemical agents on the UCS of the soil mixture were investigated. The strength of the soil-cement mixture generally increases with increasing the cement content. However, if the chemical agent is added to the mixture, the strength of the cement-chemical agent-soil mixture tends to vary depending on the type and the amount of the chemical agent. At low concentrations of 5% of aluminum sulfate and 5% and 10% of sodium carbonate, the average UCS of the cement-chemical agent-soil mixture slightly increased compared to pure clay due to increasing the flocculation of the clay in the mixture. However, at high concentrations (20%) of all chemical agents, the UCS significantly decreased compared to the pure clay and clay-cement mixtures. In the case of high cement content, the rate of UCS reduction is the highest among all cement-chemical agent-soil mixtures, which is more than three times higher in comparison to the soil-chemical agent mixtures without cement. Therefore, in the mixture with high cement (> 10%), the reduction of the USC is very sensitive when the chemical agent is added.
