Urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin was formulated similarly to plywood resin in the laboratory. The synthesized UF resin adhesive was mixed with extender, filler and acid catalyst. The mixture contained 56.1% total solids and 43.9% water. The mixes was used to bond five Com-Ply types using Korean wood species. The Com-Ply made were tested for shear strength and wood failure according to KS F 3101 ordinary plywood as well as for bending strength per KS F 3104 particleboard. The performance test results showed good strength properties for all Com-Ply types made in this study. This result represented that the UF resin adhesive mix was adequate for bonding Com-Ply with domestic wood species.

In this paper, we measured the activation energy of the Bisphenol A type Epoxy resin (DGEBA)-Jeffamine system according to an irradiation. We put the mixed solutions to the silicon mold after mixing both DGEBA(216g) and Jeffamine(93.9g), curing agent of amine system. The mixed solutions were cured in the atmosphere during 24hours after finishing the first curing during 4hours in the vacuum oven under $80^{\circ}C$. The mixed solutions were cured in the atmosphere during 24hours after finishing the second curing during 12hours in the vacuum oven under $60^{\circ}C$ again. Prepared samples were irradiated to the dose rate of 8kGy/hr with 500kGy, 700kGy, 1000kGy, 1500kGy, 2000kGy, 2500kGy. Experimental results indicated activation energy of the samples reduced as the irradiation dose increased because of the peroxides of the Epoxy created by the oxidation and the radiation.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of desensitizer on shear bond strength of adhesive resin cements for all ceramic crown. For this study, Gluma $desensitizer^{(R)}$(Heraeus Kulzer, Germany) and MS $Coat^{(R)}$(Sun medical, Japan) were used as desensitizer, and Bistite $II^{(R)}$ resin cement(Tokuyama, Japan) and Variolink $II^{(R)}$ resin cement (Ivoclar, Liechtenstein) were used. IPS Empress ceramics were bonded to dentin surfaces after application of desensitizer and shear bond strength of specimens were measured using UTM(Zwick 1456 41. Zwick, Germany) at a crosshead speed of 1mm/min. The obtained results were as follows : 1. The shear bond strength of both resin cements were not affected by Gluma $desensitizer^{(R)}$ containing HEMA 2. The shear bond strength of Bistite $II^{(R)}$ resin cement was significantly decreased by MS $Coat^{(R)}$. 3. The failure mode in MS $Coat^{(R)}-Bistite \;II^{(R)}$ group was mainly adhesive type between dentin and resin cement. but that of Gluma $desensitizer^{(R)}$-Variolink $II^{(R)}$ group was mainly mixed type, combined adhesive failures between dentin and resin cement or porcelain and resin cement.
PURPOSE. This study aimed to investigate the Vickers Hardness Number (VHN) of light- and dual cured resin cements cured through monolithic zirconia specimens (VITA YZ) of various translucencies: translucent (T); high translucent (HT); super translucent (ST); and extra translucent (XT) at 0, 24, and 48 h after curing. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Four zirconia specimens from each translucency were prepared. Two light-cured resin cements (Variolink N LC; VL and RelyX Veneer; RL) and two dual-cured resin cements (Variolink N DC; VD and RelyX U200; RD) were used. The cement was mixed and loaded in a mold and cured for 20 s through the zirconia specimen. The upper surface of cements was tested for VHN using a microhardness tester at 0, 24, and 48 h after curing. The VHN were analyzed using two-way repeated, Brown-Forsythe ANOVA with Games Howell post-hoc analysis and independent t-tests (P < .05). RESULTS. All cements showed significantly higher VHN from 0 h to 24 h (P < .001). At 48 h, the VHN of light-cured cements were significantly lower when cured under the T groups than under XT groups (P = .001 in VL, P = .014 in RL). At each post curing time of each translucency, VD showed higher VHN than VL (P < .05), and RD also showed higher VHN than RL (P < .05). CONCLUSION. The translucency of zirconia has an effect on the VHN for light-cured resin cements, but has no effect on dual-cured resin cements. Dual-cured resin cement exhibited higher VHN than the light-cured resin cement from the same manufacturer. All resin cements showed significantly higher VHN from 0 h to 24 h.

Perchlorate ($ClO{_4}^-$) is the material that is used as propellants of rockets and material of explosive as a form of ammonium perchlorate salts. Ammonium perchlorate solution of high concentration is recovered from expired rocket through demilitarization process by the water-jet method. If people take perchlorate in food and water, it interferes with adsorption of iodide which is the substance needed to synthesize thyroid hormone in the thyroid gland. It has an bad influence upon disturbing pregnancy and synthesis of growth hormone. So the effective method is necessary to remove perchlorate anion in water. By considering economic aspect, we studied effective desorption (regeneration) of perchlorate anion from adsorbent with studies on removal and adsorption of perchlorate anion. Desorption experiment was conducted as batch type. Depending on various conditions (concentration, pH, cation anion form) elution, we evaluated amount, efficiency of desorption(amount of adsorption/desorption ${\times}$ 100). Also, research confirmed the efficiency of mixed resins between anion exchange resin and activated carbon and expected synergic effect from advantages of both adsorbents.
We fabricated a composite carbon electrode to remove nitrate ions selectively from a mixed solution of anions. The electrode was fabricated by coating the surface of a carbon electrode with the nitrate-selective anion exchange resin (BHP55, Bonlite Co.) powder. We performed capacitive deionization (CDI) experiments on a mixed solution containing chloride, nitrate, and sulfate ions using a BHP55 cell constructed with the fabricated electrode. The removal of nitrate ions in the BHP55 cell was compared to that of a membrane capacitive deionization (MCDI) cell constructed with ion exchange membranes. The total quantity of ions adsorbed in BHP55 cell was $38.3meq/m^2$, which is 31% greater than that of MCDI cell. In addition, the number of nitrate adsorption in the BHP55 cell was $15.9meq/m^2$ (42% of total adsorption), 2.1 times greater than the adsorption in the MCDI cell. The results showed that the fabricated composite carbon electrode is very effective in the selective removal of nitrate ions from a mixed solution of anions.
The fracture of acrylic resin dentures remains an unsolved problem. Therefore, many investigations have been performed and various approaches to strengthening acrylic resin, for example, the reinforcement of heat-cured PMMA resin using glass fibers, have been suggested over the years. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of short glass fibers treated with silane coupling agent on the transverse strength of heat-polymerized PMMA denture base resin. To avoid fiber bunching and achieve even fiber distribution, glass fiber bundles were mixed with PMMA powder in conventional mixer whose blade was modified to be blunt. Composite of glass fiber($11{\mu}m$ diameter, 3mm & 6mm length, silane treated) and PMMA resin was made. Transverse strength and Young's modulus were estimated. Glass fibers were incorporated with 1%, 3%, 6% and 9% by weight. Plasticity and workability of dough was evaluated. Fracture surface of specimens was investigated by SEM. The results of this study were as follows 1. 6% and 9% incorporation of 3mm glass fibers in the PMMA resin enhanced the transverse strength of the test specimens(p<0.05). 2. 6% incorporation of 6mm glass fibers in the PMMA resin increased transverse strength, but 9% incorporation of it decreased transverse strength(p<0.05). 3. When more than 3% of 3mm glass fibers and more than 6% of 6mm glass fibers were incorporated, Young's modulus increased significantly(p<0.05). 4. Workability decreased gradually as the percentage of the fibers increased. 5. Workability decreased gradually as the length of the fibers increased. 6. In SEM and LM, there was no bunching of fibers and no shortening of fibers.

The aim of this study was to identify the sources of benzene detected in airborne of casting workplace where benzene was not used as raw material. We have identified benzene by GC/FID and GC/MSD. In this pilot test, small size iron chamber(diameter 30 cm, height 20 cm) was used. As the raw materials, new sand, recovered sand, and mixed casting sand(new sand + solidifying agent + organic resin + coating material) was tested, respectively. In the new sand benzene was not detected, but in the recovered sand and the mixed casting sand was detected. Xylenesulfonic acid(solidifying agent), one of the mixed casting sand ingredients was thought to product benzene by thermal decomposition above $400^{\circ}$..., but the other raw materials(organic resin and coating material) were thought not to product benzene. In this experiment, the most of benzene by thermal decomposition was produced within 1 hour after pouring the iron solution($1560^{\circ}$...) in small size iron chamber. When the mixed casting sand with coating material was used, the concentration of the produced benzene was average 2.91 ppm(range 1.98~3.72 ppm), and without coating material, benzene concentration was average 0.11 ppm(range 0.08~0.14 ppm).
In this paper, a mixed-mode cohesive law for an interface crack between epoxy and TR (transparent thermoplastic) resin is inversely estimated by the field projection method using numerical solutions and experimentally measured displacements. Displacements in a region far away from the crack tip are measured by digital image correlation technique. An inverse analysis, the field projection method formulated from the interaction J- and M-integrals with numerical auxiliary fields, is carried out to estimate a mixed-mode cohesive law for an interface crack between dissimilar materials. In the present approach, nonlinear deformations and damage near the crack tip are converted into the relationships of tractions and separations on crack surfaces behind the crack tip. The phase angle of mixed-mode singularities of the interface crack is also obtained from measured displacements in this study.
