Design and optimization study has been performed to obtain a supersonic air.launching mission for the nanosat launcher. Given mission is to launch 10kg payload to target orbit of $700km{\times}700km$. Additional design constraints are imposed by the mother plane. After the required velocity is obtained, the stag ing optimization is carried out. Serial analyses for the propulsion system and aerodynamics are performed then, the rocket trajectory optimization has been carried out. After several mission design and optimization iterations, the optimized mission which satisfies the mission target is obtained. Total weight of the three-staged air-launching rocket is 1231.4kg and the payload weight is 10 kg.

Mission effectiveness, which is the probability of successfully completing the assigned mission, is introduced as an appropriate measure of effectiveness for a military system. The model of mission effectiveness is developed for a system which is required to carry out various types of a mission. Each mission type is characterized by the maximum allowable time that determines the success of a given mission type. A given type of a mission is successful if and only if (i) the system is available at the start of a mission and (ii) the system completes its mission within the maximum allowable duration of time that this given mission type specifies without any failure during this period. Both analytic and simulation approaches are employed. Difficulties involved in the anayticl approach are discussed. The model is proposed as a useful tool for consistent system evaluation and optimum test design.

Integrated data processing for display of flight critical data and mission critical data was conducted without additional display instruments using glass cockpit design. Based on a pre-designed flight critical system and a mission critical system, this paper shows an optimal design of subsystem integration. The design satisfies safety requirements of flight control systems(FCS) and requires minimized modification of pre-designed systems. By conducting integration test using System Integration laboratory(SIL), it is confirmed that the introduced design approach meets the safety requirements of the MEP system.
This paper represents the analysis and design of the generic mission operations system for next generation satellite mission. In the past, mission operations systems were developed by their own mission requirements respectively. However, these systems have the similar architecture and common functions. Mission operations systems, in general, consist of mission independent module and mission specific module. In this paper, the generic framework for the mission scheduling and automation are introduced and analyzed. Using these generic frameworks, the risk and cost for operations system development can be reduced significantly. And, these frameworks might be used for the core technology in the development of mission operations system in the future.

The naval unmanned surface vehicle (USV) conducts the surveillance operations, based on the mission plan set by the user. For setting the mission planning, the user needs to analyze the suitability of the operation for the mission planning. In this paper, we proposed a simulation program that estimates the probability of detecting targets of the mission planning in the analysis. In the simulation analysis, we design the USV's maneuvering characteristics, radar detection operational performance equipped on the USV, and targets infiltrating into surveillance area in the simulation experiment scenario. Based on the simulation results, we evaluated the mission planning suitability and find a mission planning solution recursively.

A general purpose aircraft mission performance analysis program has been developed. The program can be used in design mode or in analysis mode. Fuel weight for a given mission profile can be estimated when the design mode is chosen, while mission time or mission range for a given fuel can be estimated when the analysis mode is chosen. The mission analysis program is written with JAVA and includes GUI(Graphic User Interface) for users' conveniences. With a proper combination of databases for propulsion, aerodynamics and weight, the program can be configured to compute the performance of any type of aircraft. The program is validated by comparing its results with the results of a well known performance analysis program by ADD(Agency for Defense Development).

STEP Cube Lab (Cube Laboratory for Space Technology Experimental Project) is a 1U standardized pico-class satellite. Its main mission objective is an on-orbit verification of five fundamental core space technologies. For assuring a successful missions of the STEP Cube Lab with five payloads, electrical power subsystem (EPS) shall sufficiently provide an electrical power to payloads and bus systems of the satellite during an entire mission life. In this study, a design process of EPS system was introduced including power budget analysis considering a mission orbit and various mission modes of the satellite. In conclusion, adequate EPS hardware in compliance with design requirements were selected. The effectiveness and mission capability of EPS architecture design were confirmed through an energy balance analysis (EBA).

We presents a design of 3U cubesat MIMAN (Monochrome imaging for monitoring aerosol by nano-satellite) for aerosol monitoring mission with high spatial resolution. The main objective of MIMAN mission is to take images of aerosols around Korea and to provide auxiliary data for GK 2B cloud masking. For this mission, we derived mission requirements and constraints for the MIMAN mission. We designed the mission architecture and concept of operations. To reduce risk factors in space operation, we considered the safety of the communication. In every operation modes, UHF communication is available so that the cubesat can operate based on the ground commands. So, we can handle every problem at the ground station during mission operations. Based on the mission and concept of operations, we confirmed that the system design satisfied the system requirements. We designed the system interface considering data flow of each hardware, and evaluated the safety of the system with system budget analysis.

Launched in October 2019, Northrop Grumman's MEV-1 was the world's first unmanned mission demonstrating the practical feasibility of on-orbit servicing. Although the concept of on-orbit servicing was proposed several decades ago, it has been developed to various mission concepts providing services such as orbit change, station keeping, propellant and equipment supply, upgrade, repair, on-orbit assembly and production, and space debris removal. The historical success of MEV-1 is expected to expand the market of on-orbit servicing for government agencies and commercial sectors worldwide. The on-orbit servicing essentially requires the utilization of a highly propellant efficient electric propulsion system due to the nature of the mission. In this study, the space mission analysis for a simple on-orbit mission involving Hall thruster is conducted, which is life extension mission for geostationary orbit satellites. In order to analyze the mission, design space exploration for various Hall thruster design variable combinations is performed. The values of design variables and operational parameters of Hall thruster suitable for the mission are proposed through design space analysis and optimization, and mission performance is derived. In addition, the direction of further improvement for the current on-orbit mission analysis process and space mission analysis involving Hall thruster is reviewed.

In this paper, the design for a low noise amplifier with the EM simulation is presented. The ATF36077 pHEMT device is applied to design LNA for U-NII frequency band (5 GHz ~ 6 GHz). The matching networks have been designed by the only open ended stub in order to reduce parasitic effects generated from a via structure. Through EM simulator, the simulation result shows that the linear gain (@5.5 GHz) is over 10 dB, input return loss and output return loss (@ 5.5 GHz) are a below 10 dB respectively, and the 3rd order intercept point is about 17 dBm.
