  • The function of IRCM(Infrared Countermeasures) jamming is to cause the missile to miss its intended target by disturbing the seeker tracking process. This paper analyzes the jamming effect of IRCM jamming for a stationary reticle seeker. The phase error containing the azimuth angle information of target is analyzed for the intensity, frequency and duty ratio variation of the jammer pulse signal. We confirmed that the more the jammer frequency is similar to the spinning frequency of the stationary seeker, the more jamming effect is high.

  • In this paper, we consider conventional and modified proportional navigation guidance(PNG) laws for a random maneuvering target. By means of Lyapunov function approach, we show that an ideal missile guided by the conventional PNG law can always intercept a random maneuvering target if some specified initial conditions are satisfied and the navigation constant is chosen sufficiently high. In addition, we propose a modified PNG law. At the final phase of pursuit, the proposed guidance law has a better acceleration profile than the conventional PNG law.

  • This paper presents the features of an impact angle constrained open-loop optimal trajectory which is given by a function of initial conditions and optimal guidance gains. Using missile motion described by linearized kinematic equations and a proper form of performance index, an inverse optimal problem is suggested to investigate the gains related to the performance index. The flight trajectory and time-to-go can be shaped in terms of the optimal guidance gains. The results are evaluated by 3-DOF simulation.

  • An ejector was developed for man-portable missiles. The ejector can be separated from the missile after the completion of the ejection function even without any additional separation devices. This paper introduces the particular separation mechanism of the ejector and presents the methodology, based on a probabilistic design method, to predict the ejection-and-separation reliability. This approach using Monte Carlo simulation can also be applicable to the reliability prediction of one-shot items suffering from difficulties in estimating or in demonstrating their reliability due to the lack of the number of tests available.

  • The performance of a microwave missile seeker and radar operating in an air-to-air look-down mode is strongly influenced by the presence of ground clutter In order to correctly account for the effects of ground clutter, it is required to develop a model capable of representing clutter characteristics as a function of range and/or frequency. In this paper, a program to estimate the clutter reflectivity for various ground conditions is developed, using the actually measured data and the data available from open literatures. In addition, clutter characteristics measured for various ground conditions such as sea, agricultural area, urban city and industrial area through the captive flight tests are presented.

  • A radar altimeter which measures the distance using radio wave developed by domestic technology has been applied to various missiles. It is used also for calculating the error of integrated navigation technique. There are a couple of methods to reduce the error but in this paper, we proposed to utilize existing C-band radar altimeter main body with frequency conversion. We designed and manufactured the frequency converter and Ku-band antenna to accomplish this goal. From the test results of products' function and performance, we could expect the possibility of applying this method to enhance the missiles' integrated performance.

  • A 3-D multi-function radar(MFR) is a modern radar to provide various target information, such as range, doppler, and angle by performing surveillance, multiple target tracking, and missile guidance. In this paper, we introduced a real-time radar signal processor(RSP), which is a crucial component of MFR with its design, implementation using high-speed multiple DSP, and performance. Additionally, we verified that several advanced signal processing algorithms were well-performed in our RSP, such as MCA-CFAR algorithm for target detection in clutter environment, range and velocity measurement algorithm using discriminator estimation, and noise jammer detection algorithm using local minimum selection.

  • The multi function radar is searching target and tracking through resource management at the same time. Increasing resource allotment of track, if more targets and faster the renewal rate of track, lead to decreasing quota of searching resource in limited resource. When the resource of search are decreased, it becomes degrade searching performance such as revisit time, number of detecting chance and tracking etc. Degraded performance of search reduces guided missile defense probability in complex strategy such as ship self defense. In this paper, we developed a modeling and simulation (M&S) tool that uses own-ship model, radar model, target model and defense model for analysis of self defense in complex strategy. We analyzed influence of ship self defense in complex strategy according to various target environments and track performance.

  • Modern radars such as the phase array radar can handle various tasks by generating a beam from a phased array antenna. Radar can be used for miscellaneous applications such as surveillance, tracking, missile guidance etc. Previous radar systems could handle only one task at a time. As such, multiple radars were required to perform simultaneous tasks. Multi-function radars can perform many tasks using only one radar system. However, the radar's resources are limited in this instance. To efficiently utilize time, it is necessary to properly schedule tasks in the radar's timeline. In this report, we investigate the efficiency of different scheduling tasks.

  • This paper proposes a practical linear recursive robust motion deblurring filter using the inertial sensor measurements for strapdown image seekers. The angular rate information obtained from the gyro mounted on the missile is used to define the PSF(point spread function). Since the gyro output contains a unknown but bounded bias error. the motion blur image model can be expressed as the linear uncertain system. In consequence, the motion deblurring problem can be cast into the robust Kalman filtering which provides reliable state estimates even in the presence of the parametric uncertainty due to the gyro bias. Through the computer simulations using the actual IR scenes, it is verified that the proposed algorithm guarantees the robust motion deblurring performance.
