  • Herbs have unique tastes and flavors, and they have been used in western foods. This study used herbs to make cookies. The purpose of this study was to investigate the sensory characteristics of cookies with rosemary(1, 2, 3, 4%) and mints(1, 2, 3, 4%) after foretasting herbs. The sample of this study was 880 college students which consisted of 436 males and 444 females. The results of this study were as follows. This study was conducted to find a high quality product through a sensory test with rosemary and mints. First, in terms of foretasting experience, the respondents had tasted 12 herbs. 65.2% of them preferred parsley, followed by mint(45.2%), bay leaf(44.0%), rosemary(28.3%), basil(21.8 %), etc. Second, in terms of the most important items while making herb added to bread and cookies, taste was high with 45.8%, flavor 27.3%, price 10.1%, nutrition 8.5%, etc. There were significant differences between genders and among majors(p<0.001). Third, it was found that appearance was high with 2% added group(M=6.00) in terms of sensory preference. The flavors, tastes, texture, overall acceptability were high with 1% added group in terms of sensory preference of cookies with rosemary. The respondents showed low preference for cookies with mints. While the 1% added mint group showed the highest preference for appearances and texture, the control group showed the highest preference for flavors, tastes and overall acceptability. There was a significant difference in appearances and tastes on all samples except colors and taste of rosemary added cookies $(p<0.05{\sim}p<0.001)$. Fourth, males preferred 2% rosemary added one in appearances and tastes in a sensory test. They preferred the 1% rosemary added group in terms of flavors, texture, and overall acceptability. Females preferred appearances of cookies with 2% rosemary and also preferred flavors, tastes, texture and, overall acceptability with 1% rosemary. Both of them less preferred 4% mint added one. Overall, this study found that respondents preferred 1% rosemary herb cookies. There should be further researches with less than 1% mint to make herb cookies.

  • In this paper, millimeter-wave broadband MHEMT (Metamorphic High Electron Mobility Transistor) cascode amplifiers were designed and fabricated. The $0.1{\mu}m$ InGaAs/InAlAs/GaAs MHEMT was fabricated for cascode amplifiers. The DC characteristics of MHEMT are 670 mA/mm of drain current density, 588 mS/mm of maximum transconductance. The current gain cut-off frequency($f_T$) is 139 GHz and the maximum oscillation frequency($f_{max}$) is 266 GHz. To prevent oscillation of the designed cascode amplifiers, a parallel resistor and capacitor were connected to the drain of common gate device. By using the CPW (Coplanar Waveguide) transmission line, the cascode amplifier was designed and matched for the broadband characteristics. The designed amplifier was fabricated by the MHEMT MMIC process that was developed through this research. As the results of measurement, the amplifier was obtained 3 dB bandwidth of 50.37 GHz between 20.76 to 71.13 GHz. Also, this amplifier represents the S21 gain with the average 7.07 dB gain in bandwidth and the maximum gain of 10.3 dB at 30 GHz.

  • Bee propolis ethanolic extract with some plant essential oils was investigated for its antidermatophytic properties. The tested plant essential oils included jasmine, clove, lemon, Arabian jasmine, mint, rosa, olive and basil. The antidermatophytic activity has been compared to Naftifine-HCl and Clotrimazole used for dermatophyte treatment. Experimental model has been tested using sheep hoof plate for the in vitro tests to stimulate human nails. Mint, clove and basil with 4 mg/ml of bee propolis have a comparable efficacy to those of Naftifine-HCl and Clotrimazole. There is a great necessity for new effective low price and safe antidermatophyte agents to avoid recurrent infection. Propolis synergistic could be of great importance with essential oils of plants in dermatophyte therapy.

  • In this paper, an MMIC broadband amplifier for wireless communication systems has been developed by using an active feedback method. This active feedback operates at much higher frequencies than a method by a spiral inductor feedback and its size is independent of the inductance value. The MMIC broadband amplifier was designed using a $0.5{\;}{\mutextrm{m}}$ MESFET library. The fabricated chip area was $1.4{\;}mm{\;}{\times}{\;}1.4{\;}mm. Measurement showed a gain of 18 dB with a gain flatness of ${\pm}3$ dB in a 1.5 GHz~3.5 GHz band. The maximum output power and the minimum noise figure were 14 dBm and 2.5 dB in the same band, respectively.

  • In this paper, We have designed and fabricated 20 InP Gunn diodes using a current limiting epitaxial structure by MINT's optimized fabrication processes. We have also packaged the fabricated InP Gunn diodes using our optimized packaging method, and then designed and fabricated a W-band waveguide FTO to measure characteristics of the packaged InP Gunn diodes. The packaged InP Gunn diode have a ceramic ring, a Au plated stud and a lid, and a Maltese cross. The fabricated InP Gunn diodes have good RF characteristics such as high output powers (11.8~17 dBm) and limiting low currents (less than 400 mA) between 92.9 and 94.78 GHz.

  • In this paper, we have designed and fabricated a broadband 2-stage MMIC amplifier. Broadband characteristics could be obtained by compensated matching networks in a 2-stage amplifier design. This method is compensating low gains at lower frequencies in the 1st-stage with higher gains at lower frequencies in the 2nd- stage and then finally flat gains are obtained in the wide frequency ranges. Also, we have obtained not only broadband characteristics but also high gain using compensation matching network. The fabricated amplifier is measured by attaching on the test PCB(Printed Circuits Board). The measurement results are bandwidth of 1.1~2.8 GHz, S$_{21}$ gain of 11.1$\pm$0.3 ㏈ and P1㏈ of 12.6 ㏈m at 2.4 GHz.
