Pomegranate, a small tree originating in Orient, belongs to Punicaceae family. The seeds contain an oil of which about 80% is rare trans 18 carbon fatty acid (punicic acid), and have highest botanical concentration of a sex steroid, estrone. Pharmacological properties of pomegranate extract have been studied, with anti-microbial, anti-parasitic, anti-viral, and anti-cancer effects. (omitted)

In this paper, we show that groups of order $2^npq$, where p, q are primes of the from $p=2^n-1$, $q=2^{n-1}+p$ with $n{\geq}3$, are not simple and groups of order $2^npq^t$ for $t{\geq}2$, where p, q are odd primes of the form $p=2^m-1$, $q=2^n-1$ with m < n, are not simple.

The purpose of this research is support blind person's daily walking. In order to achieve the purpose, we investigate how the environmental information is used for their daily walking both in residential and commercial areas considering the characteristics of walking. In the investigation, interview to the persons concerned is carried out and all the conversation with them is recorded with a voice recorder. Moreover, the environmental information that may become clues is plotted on a map together with photos. The results are as follows; (1) Environmental information which the blind persons use is different depending on the role of its own of place, such as place confirmation, direction decision, distance understanding. (2) It is demonstrated that the information acquisition from sound is effective when they especially understand place and location.

We introduce a MCMC sampling for a generalized linear normal random effects model with the ordered probit link function based on latent variables from suitable truncated normal distribution. Such models have proven useful in practice and we have observed numerically reasonable results in the estimation of fixed effects when the random effect term is provided. Applications that utilize Korean Welfare Panel Study data can be difficult to model; subsequently, we find that an ordered probit model with the random effects leads to an improved analyses with more accurate and precise inferences.

In the treatment of dentofacial deformities, analysis of skeletal pattern, with evaluation of plaster dental cast, is essential procedure. This study was based on 20 patients with dentofacial deformity who were admitted to the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery Kngnam sacred heart Hospital during the period of Jan 1988 through Aug 1989. We studied serial cephalometric radiogarphs of patients (pre-op, postop immediately, postop 6 moth). The obtained results indicates the good resistance of rigid fixation against relapse in orthognathic surgery.

During welding of Ni based superalloy, hot cracking was usually happen in the fusion zone of a weld. In this study, the laser weldability of Inconel 713C alloy for the turbocharger wastegate valve (WGV) was evaluated with various welding conditions, such as laser power, welding speed, shielding gas. Welding conditions were optimized by bead-on-plate (BOP) and butt joint welding. For the evaluation of laser weldability, bead shapes and weld microstructures were investigated and tensile test was conducted. The fracture surfaces were investigated for the understanding the cause of the fracture.

We develop a Bayesian clustering procedure based on a Dirichlet process prior with cluster specific random effects. Gibbs sampling of a normal mixture of linear mixed regressions with a Dirichlet process was implemented to calculate posterior probabilities when the number of clusters was unknown. Our approach (unlike its counterparts) provides simultaneous partitioning and parameter estimation with the computation of the classification probabilities. A Monte Carlo study of curve estimation results showed that the model was useful for function estimation. We find that the proposed Dirichlet process mixture model with cluster specific random effects detects clusters sensitively by combining vague edges into different clusters. Examples are given to show how these models perform on real data.

The influence of the grain size of the $CH_3NH_3PbI_3$ on the solar cell performance is investigated by controlling the ratio between $CH_3NH_3I$ and $PbI_2$ precursors. As the concentration of the precursors increased from 1.0M to 2.0M, the $CH_3NH_3PbI_3$ grain size increased from ~100nm to ~400nm. The solar cell utilizing the $CH_3NH_3PbI_3$ with large grain size shows improved photocurrent compared to the solar cell utilizing $CH_3NH_3PbI_3$ with small grain size, which is ascribed to the reduced recombination at the boundaries of grains.

We develop a random partition procedure based on a Dirichlet process prior with Laplace distribution. Gibbs sampling of a Laplace mixture of linear mixed regressions with a Dirichlet process is implemented as a random partition model when the number of clusters is unknown. Our approach provides simultaneous partitioning and parameter estimation with the computation of classification probabilities, unlike its counterparts. A full Gibbs-sampling algorithm is developed for an efficient Markov chain Monte Carlo posterior computation. The proposed method is illustrated with simulated data and one real data of the energy efficiency of Tsanas and Xifara (Energy and Buildings, 49, 560-567, 2012).
