  • As data is evaluated as a key asset for digital transformation, efficient and stable management of data, smooth sharing data, and provision of services using data are also required in the defense. To support this, the Korean military is laying the foundation for the Military Artificial Intelligence Platform which is a defense data management infrastructure. In this paper, we examine the data strategies and data platform promotion directions of Korea and major advanced groups, and we look for suggestion and present the direction of development of the Military Intelligent Platform. We are expected that it can contribute to the establishment of a safe and efficient defense data management infrastructure for the Korean military.

  • As the equipment of the military has become more advanced and expensive, the cost of securing spare parts is also constantly increasing along with the increase in equipment assets. In particular, forecasting demand for spare parts one of the important management tasks in the military, and the accuracy of these predictions is directly related to military operations and cost management. However, because the demand for spare parts is intermittent and irregular, it is often difficult to make accurate predictions using traditional statistical methods or a single statistical or machine learning model. In this paper, we propose a model that can increase the accuracy of demand forecasting for irregular patterns of spare parts demanding by using a combination of statistical and machine learning algorithm, and through experiments on Cheonma spare parts demanding data.

  • For smart defense innovation, the key is to apply state-of-the-art technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to national defense. In order to apply state-of-the-art technology to the defense sector, we need to apply and develop technologies to analyze and respond to uncertain future operational environments. To this end, our military is investing a lot of time and effort. To understand future operational environment analysis and to apply and develop our military, we explored the perspectives of operational environment analysis in major countries and studied specific cases of U.S. troops with systematic analysis functions. The U.S. Army has established a cooperative system to analyze future operational environment under the leadership of the Education Command and operates the organization organically. It also utilizes the collective intelligence of expert groups in various fields by utilizing the MSC, and it is time for the Korean military to take the lead in keeping with the era of transformation. To that end, the organization of the U.S. Education Command should be benchmarked and the Korean Future Operation Environment Analysis Organization should be established and operated. Through this study, we have developed an understanding of the future operational environment analysis system of the U.S. Army and presented a plan to apply the ROK MND.

  • The estimation of lifetimes are examined when the distribution of lifetimes are Weibull. It is assumed that, due to physical restrictions and/or economic requirements, the lifetimes are investigated only at certain time intervals during the test period with 'mixed replacement' experiment, even though it is well known that 'with replacement' experiment produces better accuracy than 'without replacement' one. The maximum likelihood estimators are derived through the iterative method like as Lawless(1982). Also Cramer-Rao lower bounds are found as the asymptotic variances of the estimates.

  • In Multiple Objective Linear Programming (MOLP), it is well known that efficient solution and weight are correspondent to each other. The purpose of this paper is to study relationships between efficient face and the region of weight in MOLP. It is shown that the regions of weights corresponding to two efficient extreme points are also neighbor if two efficient extreme points are neighbor each other, and that the set of the efficient solutions corresponding to the common part of weight regions is efficient face. Using the above, we present a method to find the efficient solutions corresponding to a given weight and vice versa.

  • This paper describes a Battle Group Combat Simulation Model (called 'BAGSIM'). BAGSIM is developed to be used as an experimental tool for studies about combat modelling at battle group level. Thus it takes many of the parameters and situations into consideration at this level, and it is designed to be easily adapted to represent equivalent situations to the other more aggregated models. Further the main processes occurring in its simulation procedure such as target detection process, target selection process, firing and killing processes are verified by comparison with the existing stochastic duel models.

  • In this paper, we consider a rule of application of PRICE(Parametric Review of Information for Costing and Evaluation) model to the environment of Korean defense industry. The PRICE model which is a computer model to estimate the cost of an acquisition program, was developed for the regulation of defense acquisition program in the United States. Therefore, it is essential for us to figure out how we can adopt it under our defense acquisition regulations. We will give an alternative method to apply the PRICE model to the mapping problem between two regulations.

  • Electro Explosive Devices can be susceptible to electromagnetic interference. When these components are exposed to external electromagnetic fields, it may cause to induce sufficient current to generate enough heat for an inadvertent detonation. It is almost impossible to monitor the event of firing throughout the electromagnetic environment test. The survivability of EED for hazards of electromagnetic radiation is investigated. A fiber optic sensor is installed near the bridge wire after removing explosive material in order to measure the induced current on the bridge wire. The length of lead-wire of the EED fabricated is around 15 cm.

  • The purpose of this study is investigate the differences among parametric and nonparametric test statistics for the tree alternative hypothesis in the randomized block design. As the results, it was found that there was no large differences among parametric and nonparametric test statistics in power when the block sizes were larger, and Hollander's statistic had better power than other nonparametric test statistics. It is recommended that Hollander's test statistic is more useful method when we have no information about the distribution of population.
