간호학 학사과정 내 중환자 간호학 교육의 운영 현황과 발전 방향 (Critical Care Nursing Courses in Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programs : Present and Future Directions)

  • Purpose : This study examined the status of critical care nursing education in bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) to suggest future directions. Methods : The target of the survey was 185 BSN programs that were certified by the Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing Education as of October 31, 2016. We structurally reviewed the curriculums and the course syllabi. Results : Forty-eight courses of 42 BSN programs were analyzed. Only five programs offered both theoretical and practical courses in critical care nursing; 22 offered theoretical courses and 26 offered practical courses. Most courses were offered as electives with 1 or 2 credits, and were taught by faculty who were experts in adult health nursing. Conclusion : The results show that there is a quantitative shortage of critical care nursing education in the curriculum of BSN programs in Korea. The lack of knowledge and skills on critical care can lead to a burden of new intensive care unit nurses and is a threat to patients' health. It is necessary to develop a practical and integrative curriculum for critical care nursing education.

한국 치위생(학)과 표준교육과정안 개발 (Development of Korean standard dental hygiene curriculum proposal)

  • Objectives : In order to make a proposal of a Korean standard dental hygiene curriculum, the job description of the National Health Personnel Licensing Examination Board was analyzed to prepare a job analysis matrix of dental hygienist to select required core competency. Methods : Data were analyzed to test the job validity of dental hygienist and categorize the duties of dental hygienist. A proposal of a standard dental hygiene curriculum was mapped out by making a comparative analysis of the courses necessary for American authorization of dental hygiene curriculum, existing proposals of Korean standard dental hygiene curriculum and the courses of the departments of dental hygiene offered by domestic three-year colleges and four-year universities. Results : Basic medicine courses were reinforced or newly offered to provide an opportunity for students to transfer to a domestic four-year university or to a foreign university. In the field of clinical dental hygiene and practice, preventive dentistry, prophylaxis and practice were integrated, and the names of the related courses were unified to give a chance for students to engage in comprehensive dental hygiene practice. There were different courses for dental clinical science at present. In this proposal, students should earn 125 credits in total. Conclusions : Standard dental hygiene curriculum proposal was required by three-year and four-year colleges across the nation. To make it happen, the original names of dental hygiene courses should be used, and the dental hygiene certification and evaluation institute that is under the umbrella of the Korean Dental Hygienists Association should lay out the standard of the KSDHEP to facilitate the utilization of the standard dental hygiene curriculum proposal.

학제별 간호학생의 임상수행능력 영향요인 비교 (Comparison of Factors affecting Clinical Competence between Associate and Bachelor Nursing Students Completed Nursing Courses)

  • Purpose: This study was to compare the influencing factors of clinical competence between associate and bachelor nursing students completing nursing courses. Method: The subjects were 429 students completing the nursing courses (172 bachelor course students, and 257 associate course students). The study design was cross sectional. Results: Bachelor students showed a significant higher score in clinical competence than associate students. There were significant influencing factors on clinical competence including critical thinking disposition, professional conduct, communication skill, theoretical education satisfaction, and practice education satisfaction. The strongest factor influencing clinical competence was critical thinking disposition. All the factors mentioned above explained 49% of clinical competence in associate courses, and 40.0% in bachelor courses excluding the factor of practice education satisfaction. The level of theoretical and practice education satisfaction of bachelor courses was significantly lower than associate. Conclusion: It is recommended that associate course nursing students should be encouraged in critical thinking disposition, professional conduct, and communication skill. Bachelor course nursing students should be encouraged in practical education including practical environments, instruction methods, and content for improving clinical competence.

E-학습 중심의 TOEIC 집중교육에 대하여 (On Intensive E-learning TOEIC Course)

  • 본 논문은 한 대학에서 3년에 걸쳐 실시한 토익 모의고사를 바탕으로 4주간의 집중코스와 한 학기에 걸쳐 진행되는 상시적 토익코스의 점수 분포를 비교하고, 두 프로그램에 참여한 학생 그룹의 능력 뿐만 아니라 사용된 교수용 교재 및 장비를 살펴본다. 해당 대학은 여름방학과 겨울방학을 이용하여 4주간의 토익 집중코스를 개설하고 있으며, 참여 학생들은 오전 9시부터 오후 4시까지 수업에 참가한다. 또한 해당 대학은 매 학기동안 15주간의 상시적인 토익코스를 개설해서 월요일부터 금요일까지 매일 한 시간의 수업을 진행한다. 본 논문은 EFL/ESL 교육에서 교사가 교수 자료, 교수법 및 e-학습을 효과적으로 운용하는 것이 얼마나 중요한지를 보여준다. 상시적으로 개설되는 토익코스는 한 학기동안 75시간 수업이 진행되며, 4주간의 집중코스는 120시간 수업이 진행된다. 이 두 코스의 제한된 시간들은 학생들이 일상생활에서 의사소통을 가능하게 하는데 필요한 충분한 시간이라고 볼 수는 없다. 미래에 학생들이 영어 학습에서 성공적인 향상을 보이기 위해서는 효과적이고 질적으로 우수한 EFL/ESL 집중코스의 개발이 필수적이다.

간호대학생의 병원미생물학 수강 경험: 질적 내용분석 (Experience in Microbiology Course of Nursing Students: Qualitative Content Analysis)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore nursing students' experience in microbiology courses. Methods: Data were gathered through 4 focus group interviews and 1 in-depth personal interview, by 19 nursing students who attended microbiology courses. Data were collected June 15-July 20, 2018. Conventional content analysis was used for data analysis. Results: The result of this study revealed 4 categories: "facing the challenge", "types of learning", "lack of learning motivation", "acquiring knowledge of infection". Conclusion: Findings suggest that it is important to identify nursing students' perspectives, to improve microbiology curriculum in the educational process. Also, it is necessary to connect continuously, between educational and practical environments, for effective management of microbiology courses.

4년제 간호학과 교과과정 분석 (Analysis of Curriculum of 4- year Nursing Schools)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to identify the present status of graduate nursing curriculum in Korea, so as to provide basic data for improving nursing education. Methods: In order to analyze the present nursing curriculum, data were collected from the home page of 81 nursing colleges in Korea. The subjects and credits of nursing curriculum were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: The total graduate credits were 137.6, credits of general education were 31.4 and nursing major courses were 96.5 credits. The credits of nursing major courses were as follows: 'basic science for nursing' was 22.0 credits, 'basic nursing' was 11.9 credits, 'subjects having same name with nursing license examination' were 66.9 credits and 'other nursing subjects' were 11.9 credits. These results showed that the credits of general education and nursing major courses were decreased while the subjects and credits related to the courses for nursing license examination have not changed compared with the past. Conclusion: Considering the change of social needs and nursing student character, it is necessary to improve the nursing curriculum. We suggest that further research to facilitate nursing curriculum development and adapting to social change should be undertaken.

중등 과학교사 양성 과정의 실태 분석 (A Status Survey on the Preservice Education of Secondary Science Teachers)

  • The quality of science teachers is one of the most important factors to improve the science education in secondary schools. In this study the current status of preservice education of secondary science teachers was surveyed and the directions for the improvement were suggested as follows: 1. The purposes of departments of science education have to be partially revised to include other education programs related to science education than preservice training courses of science teachers. 2. Training courses of integrated science teacher should be organized differently from those of physics, chemistry, biology or earth science teachers because their requirements are different. 3. Strict standards of curricula for training science teacher have to be established and applied practically. 4. The curricula of departments of science education have to reflect the contents and the changes of secondary science education. 5. More credits to subjects on the science education, the nature of science, and the laboratory experiments should be taken in the preservice courses of science teachers. 6. Professors at the department of science education have to use various methods to teach inquiry lab and evaluation techniques so that students can experience them at the training courses. 7. The number of professors majoring in science education at the department of sciece education should be increased. 8. Enough research funds have to be supported to activate the researches in science education.

A Preliminary Report on the Differences in the Perceived Impacts of Undergraduate Bioscience Knowledge on Clinical Practice Among Korean RNs

  • Purpose. Nursing has evolved as a unique and independent field over the last decades. Unfortunately, many nurses in Korea express concern that they lack appropriate background knowledge in bioscience necessary to practice nursing competently. To determine the reasons of their concerns, we examined the perceptions of RNs regarding bioscience courses in their undergraduate (Baccalaureate and 3 year diploma program) and their perceived relations to the practice of nursing. Methods. The structured questionnaires were sent to 3 university-affiliated tertiary hospitals in Seoul, Korea. Results. The responses given by the nurses in the two groups were similar. The nurses in this study reported that the bioscience courses they took as undergraduates had little relation to their professional tasks. This lack of link between bioscientific knowledge and nursing practice may be partly due to the fact that the courses are taught by non-nursing faculties who are not familiar with nursing tices. It also appears that bioscience knowledge deficit was most prominent during nursing assessment regardless of the program they attended or the unit they are currently working. Conclusion. Bioscience courses should be integrated into the nursing curriculum properly and taught by nursing faculty who have a strong background in biological sciences.

NCS기반 수업에서 직무수행능력 평가횟수와 학습만족도 및 학습성과와의 관련성 (Relations of Learner Satisfaction and Learning Performance with an Evaluation of Job Performance Abilities for NCS-based Courses in Collages)

  • 본 연구는 NCS기반 수업의 효과성과 매력성을 알아보기 위해 교수자의 관점에서 직무수행능력 평가횟수와 학습만족도 및 학습성과와의 관련성을 규명하고자 하였다. 연구결과, 교수자들은 NCS기반 수업에서 직무수행능력 평가횟수 3회 이상 적용할 때, 그리고 1회 평가시 평가방법 갯수 3개 이상 적용할 때 학습만족도가 더 높다고 인식하고 있었다. 반면 통계적으로 유의하지는 않았으나, 직무수행능력 평가횟수 3회 이상일 때와 평가 1회당 평가방법 갯수 3개 이상 적용할 때 학습성과가 더 높다고 인식하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 통해 NCS기반 수업에서 직무수행능력 평가횟수와 평가방법 갯수가 학습과 관련있는 잠재적 구인임을 확인할 수 있었다. NCS기반 수업에서 직무수행능력평가가 학습성과를 평가하는 것 뿐 아니라 교수학습 활동의 일환이자 과정적 도구의 개념으로 적용된다면, 수업의 효과성과 매력성을 높이는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

독서교육 교과목의 내용 구성에 관한 연구 - 문헌정보학과에서 제공되는 독서교육 과목을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Content Construction of "Reading Education" Course in LIS)

  • 대학 문헌정보학과의 사서교사 양성 과정과 관련한 독서교육 관련 교과목의 운용 체계와 문제점을 분석하고 개선방안을 제안하였다. 이를 위하여 미국 19개 문헌정보학 대학원의 독서교육 관련 교과목의 내용 구성과 전국 32개 대학 문헌정보학과의 독서교육 관련 교과목의 운용상태를 조사 분석하였다. 국내 대학에서 제공하는 독서교육 관련 과목들은 주로 독서지도(론) 또는 독서교육(론) 등의 명칭으로 32개교 중 28개교에서 개설되어 있었으며, 과목수는 45과목이었다. 각 대학에서 개설된 과목의 수를 살펴보면, 독서지도 관련 과목이 한 과목 이상 개설된 28개 학교 중 가장 많은 과목을 개설한 학교는 공주대 5개 과목, 계명대와 청주대가 각각 3과목씩 개설하고 있었다. 학교도서관 사서교사 양성을 위하여 13주 강의로 구성된 독서교육 강의계획서의 교육내용을 제안하였다: 세 가지 강조점인 다양한 독서자료의 구성, 독서교육방법, 독서치료에 관한 사항을 중심으로 내용을 구성하였다.
