In this paper, a new, simple capacitive tilt sensor with a metallic ball is proposed. The proposed tilt sensor has only two electrodes and a metallic ball, and this design assists in managing the inherent contact problem in measuring tilt angles. Capacitive sensing, compared with other types of tilt sensor, has many advantages such as simplicity, noncontact measurement, long-throw linear displacement, and sub-micron plate spacing. Its design and fabrication process are significantly simpler than previous types of tilt sensors. The dimensions of the prototype tilt sensor are $20mm{\times}20mm$, and the diameter of the polystyrene tube is 5 mm with a tube thickness of 0.15 mm. An analytical study of the prototype capacitive tilt sensor was undertaken, and the experimental results demonstrate the relationship between the tilt angles and measured capacitances compared with the analytical study.

A bulk metallic glass-forming alloy, $Ni_{59}Zr_{20}Ti_{16}Si_2Sn_3$ metallic glass powders was used for good commercial availability and good formability in supercooled liquid region. In this study, the Ni-based metallic glass was synthesized using by high pressure gas atomized metallic glass powders. In order to create a bulk metallic glass sample, the $Ni_{59}Zr_{20}Ti_{16}Si_2Sn_3$ metallic glass powders with ball-milled Ni-based amorphous powder with 40%vol brass powder and Cu powder for 20 hours. The composite specimens were prepared by Spark Plasma Sintering for the precursor. The SPS was performed at supercooled liquid region of Ni-based metallic glass. The amorphous structure of the final sample was characterized by SEM, X-ray diffraction and DSC analysis.
As huge energy transfer systems like a nuclear power plant, steam power plant and petrochemical plant are operated for a long time, mechanical properties are changed by degradation. The life time of the systems can be affected by the mechanical properties. So determination of the integrity of the metallic structure is required either to en4sure that failure will not occur during the service life of the components or to evaluate the lifetime extension of the structure. An automated ball indentation(ABI) method was developed as a non-destructive technique for evaluating the integrity of such metallic components. In this paper, we would like to present the aging evaluation technique by the ABI method. The five classes of the thermally aged CF8M specimens were prepared using an artificially accelerated aging method. After holding 100, 300, 900, 1800 and 3600 hours at 43$0^{\circ}C$, the specimens were cooled down using water to room temperature respectively. The tensile test, hardness test, charpy impact test, ABI test were performed. The results of the fracture test were compared with those of ABI test and the new evaluation technique of the integrity of metallic structures was developed.

This paper dealt with the PD (partial discharge) characteristics produced by metallic particles presented in a gas insulated switchgear. Four types of metallic particles such as a ball, a trapezoid, a rectangle, and a twist were fabricated and placed in a PD cell filled with $SF_6$ gas. PD pulses were detected through a $50{\Omega}$ non-inductive resistor. Calibration was carried out according to IEC 60270 and the sensitivity was calculated as 4 mV/pC. Apparent charge, pulse count, DIV (discharge inception voltage), DEV (discharge extinction voltage), and TRPD (time resolved partial discharge) were analyzed. Among the metallic particle types, the twist frequently occurred PD pulse at the lowest DIV, while the rectangle showed the highest. DEV of the twist was about 2 times lower than that for the rectangle. Kurtosis of ball clustered at high value, and skewness of other three metallic particles distributed at low value. TRPD showed different distribution by metallic particle types.

The preparation of $Ti_{50}Cu_{28}Ni_{15}Sn_7$ metallic glass composite powders was accomplished by the mechanical alloying of a pure Ti, Cu, Ni, Sn and carbon nanotube (CNT) powder mixture after 8 h milling. In the ball-milled composites, the initial CNT particles were dissolved in the Ti-based alloy glassy matrix. The bulk metallic glass composite was successfully prepared by vacuum hot pressing the as-milled CNT/$Ti_{50}Cu_{28}Ni_{15}Sn_7$ metallic glass composite powders. A significant hardness increase with the CNT additions was observed for the consolidated composite compacts.

In terms of food safety, mixture of contaminants in food is a serious problem for not only consumers but also manufacturers. In general, the target size of the metallic contaminant to be removed is 0.5 mm. However, it is a difficult task for manufacturers to achieve this target, because of lower system sensitivity. Therefore, we developed a food contaminant detection system based on high-Tc RF superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs), which are highly sensitive magnetic sensors. This study aims to improve the signal to noise ratio (SNR) of the system and detect a 0.5 mm diameter steel ball. Using a real time digital signal processing technique along with analog band-pass filters, we improved the SNR of the system. Owing to the improved SNR, a steel ball with a diameter as small as 0.3 mm, with stand-off distance of 117 mm was successfully detected. These results suggest that the proposed system is a promising candidate for the detection of metallic contaminants in food products.

Organometal halide perovskite materials have attracted much attention in the photovoltaic and light emitting devices due to the compositional flexibility with AMX3 formula (A is an organic amine cation; M is a metal ion; X is a halogen atom). The addition of homovalent or heterovalent metal cations to the bulk organohalide perovskites has been performed to modify their energy band structure and the relevant optoelectronic properties by ligand-assisted ball milling. Here, we report CH3NH3Pb1-xMxBr3 nanocrystals substituted by metallic cations (M is Sn2+, In3+, Bi3+; x = 0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2). Photoluminescence and quantum yield was significantly reduced with increasing metallic cations content. These quenching effect could be resulted from the metal cations that behave as a non-radiative recombination center.

The syntheses of LaNiO$_3$Perovskite crystalline phase from mixtures of La$_2$O$_3$and NiO via it mechanochemical(used planetary mill) and a wet ball mill process were investigated. A single and stable LaNiO$_3$perovskite crystalline phase was successfully prepared by using a heat free mechanochemical process which produced a fine amorphous powder, while that phase was not formed in a wet ball mill process which needed heat treatment ranging from 500 to 150$0^{\circ}C$ and produced a coarse powder. It was shown that the LaNiO$_3$ceramics made of the mechanochemically synthesized powder possesed a good metallic characteristic.

Acceleration signal characteristics of a steel plate, impacted by steel balls, were studied in an attempt to apply the experimental results to the impact location and mass estimation of metallic loose parts in the cooling system of nuclear power plants. Experimental results show that the variation of maximum acceleration amplitude and impact contact time due to the change of ball mass and impact velocity can be well explained by the Hertz impact theory. The frequency spectral pattern shifted slightly in spite of the increase of impact velocity and impact location. Ball mass, however, strongly affected the frequency spectral pattern. Hence the frequency spectrum can be used for estimation of the mass of unknown loose parts in the cooling system.
This research for replacement of chlorine or sulfur based EP(extreme pressure) -additives which is restricted materials by environmental regulation. The subject of this study is as follows, 4-ball test and friction coefficient test were experimented in accordance with temperature and velocity, compounding with several organic or inorganic metallic elements. After 4-ball test, wear area of steel ball was analysed by SEM-EDX. As the analysis, organic and inorganic elements make a effect for extreme pressure lubricity. It is shown that the friction coefficient of lubricant which includes chlorine or sulfur additives, the scoring phenomenon is found accord-ing to temperature and the scuffing phenomenon at 200$^{\circ}C$. Applying to Na, P, S, Zn, Ca based on inorganic and organic elements, the result showed that friction coefficient is decreased more and more, as increasing temperature of lubricant. The additive based on S, Cl, P elements is effect far extreme pressure in the sample#1 and Na, P, S, Zn, Ca in sample #2. These elements are environmental contaminants and S, Cl based on EP additives which are very popular in domestic industry, when they are properly composed with non-chlorine based on additives and Na, P, S, Zn, Ca organic or inorganic elements. It is showed that lubricity and excellent anti-wear properties.
