Rhodanese from mouse liver was purified to near homogeneity by ammonium sulfate precipitation, CM-Sephadex ion exchange, hydroxyapatite and Sephacryl S-200-HR gel filtration chromatographies with a purification of 776 folds. The molecular weight was determined by Sephadex G-150 gel filtration and found to be 34.8 KDa. SOS-PAGE showed molecular weight 34 KDa and two identical subunits splitting by aging for 3 weeks at $-70^{\circ}C$ the molecular weight of which was 17 KDa. The optimal pH of enzyme activity was 9.4 and the pI value of the enzyme was 6.6. Rhodanese showed the optimal reaction temperature of $25^{\circ}C$ and near linear increasing pattern until 10 min. incubation. $K_m$ values of rhodanese for KCN and $Na_{2}S_{2}O_{3}$ as substrates were 12.5 mM and 8.3 mM, respectively. Rhodanese activity was inhibited by more than 70% at a concentration of 100 ${\mu}M$ of $Ni^{2+}$, $Zn^{2+}$, $Cd^{2+}$, $Hg^{2+}$ and $Cu^{2+}$. Other metal ions, such as $Mn^{2+}$, $Mg^{2-}$, $Ca^{2+}$, and $Fe^{2+}$ showed no effect on rhodanese activity.
${\beta}$-Galactosidase was extracted and purified from strawberry. The purified ${\beta}$-Galactosidase from strawberry was investigated their physicochemical characteristics. ${\beta}$-Galactosidase was purified 25.74 fold from strawberry. The purification procedure include ammonium sulfate fraction, acetone powder treatment and gel and ion exchange chromatography. Yield of the enzyme purification was 18.11%. The purified enzyme has native molecular weight of 116,000 dalton. Vmax value and Km value of ${\beta}$-Galactosidase were 0.077 mM ONPG/ml/15mim and 1.75x10-2mM, respectively. The optimum temperature and pH of ${\beta}$-Galactosidase were 43$^{\circ}$C and pH 4.0, respectively. The ${\beta}$-Galactosidase activity was stable below 50$^{\circ}$C and at pH 4.0 to pH 6.0. Among the metal ions Ca and Mg were did not affect, whereas K, Cu and Zn show a little effect on the enzyme activity. The ${\beta}$-Galactosidase activities were inhibited by treatment with EDTA and SDS.
The P1 duplex of Tetrahymena group I ribozyme is the important system for studying the conformational changes in folding of ribozyme. The formation of the P1 duplex between IGS and substrate RNA and the catalytic activity of ribozyme require a variety of metal ions such as $Mg^{2+}$ and $Mn^{2+}$. In order to investigate the effect of the $Mg^{2+}$ concentration on the conformation of the P1 duplex, the NMR study was performed as a function of $Mg^{2+}$ concentration. This study revealed that the less stable AU-rich region formed duplex at $50{^{\circ}C}$ under high $Mg^{2+}$ concentration condition but melts out under low $Mg^{2+}$ concentration condition. It was also found that in the active conformation under 10 mM $MgCl_2$ condition, the unstable central G${\cdot}$U wobble pair maintains the significant base pairing up to $50{^{\circ}C}$. This study provides the information of the unique feature of the P1 duplex structure and the roll of $Mg^{2+}$ ion on the formation of the active conformation.
The thiophene or furan-containing hexadentate ligands 1, 12-bis (2-theophene )-2,5,8,ll-tetraazadodecane(Thiotrien ㆍ 4HCl) and 1,12-bis (2-furan)-2,5,8,11-tetraazadodecane(Furatrienㆍ4HC1) were synthesized as their tetrahydrochloride salt and characterized by EA, IR, NMR, and Mass spectrum. Their protonation constants (logK$_{nH}$) and stability constants (logK$^{M}_{L}$ for Cd$^{2+}$, Pb$^{2+}$, $Zn^{2+}$ and Cu$^{2+}$ ions were determined in aqueous solution by potentiometry and compared with 1, 12-bis(2-pyridyl)-2,5,8, 11-tetra-azadodecane(Pytrien) of pyridyl-containing ligand. The effect stability constants of ligands and metal ion for removal of heavy metals in aqueous solution were described.

We have investigated dielectric properties of IMI-O LB films for the effect of complex concentration by electrical conductivity, dielectric constant and dielectric relaxation time at different frequencies. In the surface pressure-area$\pi$-A) isotherms for the increase of $FE^{3+}$ concentration, the molecular area was expanded with $FE^{3+}$concentration increase by electrostatic repulsion between the polymer chains and hydrophobic increase of ionic strength. In the I-V characteristics, it is found that the limiting area has effects on the change of conductivity And, the dielectric relaxation time decreased for increase of the $FE^{3+}$concentration.

For integrated complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) circuits, the lateral spread for two-dimensional (2-D) impurity distributions are very important for the analyzing the devices. The measured two-dimensional SEM data obtained using the chemical etching-method matched very well with the results of the Gauss model for boron implanted samples. But the profiles in boron implanted silicon were deviated from the Gauss model. The profiles in boron implanted silicon were shown a little bit steep profile in the deep region due to backscattering effect on the near surface from the bombardments of light boron ions. From the simulated 3-D data obtained using an analytical model, the 1-D and 2-D data were compared with the experimental data and could be verified the justification from the experimental data. The data of 3-D model were also shown good agreements with the experimental and the simulated data. It can be used in the 3-D chip design and the analysis of microelectro-mecanical system (MEMS) and special devices.

We have investigated the effect of $H_2$ plasma treatment on the BZO (ZnO:B, Boron doped ZnO) thin films. The BZO thin films are prepared by LP-MOCVD (Low Pressure Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) technique and the samples of BZO thin film are performed with $H_2$ plasma treatment by plasma treatment system with 13.56 MHz as RIE (Reactive Ion Etching) type. After exposing $H_2$ plasma treatment, measurement of transmittance, reflectance and haze spectra in 300~1100 nm, electrical properties as resistivity, mobility and carrier concentration and work function was analysed. Regarding the results of the $H_2$ plasma treatment on the BZO thin films are application to the TCO for solar cells, such as the a-Si thin films solar cell.
Sedimentary organic matter, exposed to continental surficial environment, reacts with oxygen supplied from the atmosphee and forms carbon-containing oxidation products. Knowledge of the rate and mechanisms of sedimentary organic matter weathering is important because it is one of the major controls on atmospheric oxygen level through geologic time. Under the abiological conditions, the oxidation rate of coal organic matter by molecular oxygen is enhanced by the increase of oxygen concentration and temperature. At ambient temperature and pressure, aqueous coal oxidation results in the formation of dissolved $CO_2$ dissolved organic carbon and solid oxidation products which are all quantitatively significant reaction products. The effects of pH, ultraviolet light, and microbial activity on the weathering of sedimentary organic matter are poorly contrained. Based on the results of geochmical and environmental studies, it is believed that the photochemical reaction should play an important role in the decomposition and oxidation of sedimentary organic matter removed from the weathering profile. At higher pH conditions, the production rate of DOC can be accelerated due to base catalysis. These high molecular weight oranic matter can react with man-made pollutants such as heavy metal ions via adsorption/desorption or ion exchange reactions. The effect of microbial activity on the oxidative weathering of sedimentary organic matter is poorly understood and remains to be studied.
Polyphenoloxidase (PPO) was extracted from Solanum tuberosum Jasim by various chromatographic methods and was subsequently purified and characterized. PPO was purified upto 78-fold from the crude extract. SDS-PAGE profile of the enzyme showed a major subunit of PPO with molecular weight of 40 kDa. The optimum pH and temperature for the maximum activity of PPO was 6.5 and $25^{\circ}C$, respectively. The enzyme was found to be quite stable between 10 and $40^{\circ}C$, whereas it was almost inactivated at $70^{\circ}C$ when incubated for 30 min. Substrate specificity study indicated that catechol was the most suitable substrate for PPO isolated from purple-fleshed potato with a $K_m$ value of 21.1 mM. The most effective inhibitor was ascorbic acid, followed by L-cysteine, citric acid, EDTA, and boric acid. Studies on the effect of metal ion on PPO activity showed that magnesium and copper were inhibitory, while iron and zinc ions increased the activity of PPO.
Two Au-Ag-Cu-Pd dental casting alloys (Au:12% and 20%) used. The test solutions used 0.9 % NaCl solution (isotonic sodium chloride solution), 0.9 % NaCl solution containing 1 % lactic acid, and 0.9 % NaCl solution containing 1 % lactic acid and 0.1 mol $dm^{-3}$$Na_2S$. The surface of two samples in three sample solutions was not natural discoloration during one year. The alloy containing 12 % gold was easily alloyed and the composition was uniform comparing with the alloy containing 20 % gold. The rest potentials have not a little effect after three months. The kinds of metals could not definitely from the oxidation and reduction waves of metal on the cyclic voltammograms. The dissolutions of gold and palladium were 12 % Au sample in the 0.9 % NaCl solution containing 1 % lactic acid and 0.1 mol $dm^{-3}$$Na_{2}S$. The pH of solution had an affect on dissolution of copper, and sulfur ion had an affect on dissolution of silver. The copper dissolved amount from 20 % gold sample was about 26 times comparing with that of 12 % gold sample in the 0.9 % solution containing 1 % lactic acid. Corrosion products were silver chloride and copper chloride in NaCl solution, and silver sulfide and copper sulfide in NaCl solution containing $Na_{2}S$.
