Quasi-Steady-State Analysis on the Effect of the STATCOM on FRT Performance of Fixed Speed Wind Turbines (준정상상태 해석을 통한 고정속 풍력 발전기의 FRT에 대한 STATCOM의 효과 분석)

  • This paper analyzes the effect of the STATCOM on the improvement of the Fault Ride Through (FRT) capability of the fixed speed wind turbines(FSWTs). The steady-state models of the wind farm components, such as induction generator, capacitor bank, and the STATCOM, are developed based on the simplified equivalent circuit. Especially, the STATCOM is modeled as a controllable current source and a method that analytically determines the magnitude of the injection current is developed. For the quasi-steady-state(QSS) analysis, the steady-state model of the generator and STATCOM are merged with the dynamic model of drive train. The QSS simulation with the STATCOM shows that the STATCOM can enhance the FRT performance by improving the $W_r-T_e$ characteristics of the FSWTs.

DLL Design of SMD Structure with DCC using Reduced Delay Lines (지연단을 줄인 SMD 구조의 DCC를 가지는 DLL 설계)

  • DLLs(Delay Locked Loops) have widely been used in many systems in order to achieve the clock synchronization. A SMD (Synchronous Mirror Delay) structure is used both for skew reduction and for DCC (Duty Cycle Correction). In this paper, a SMD based DLL with DCC using Reduced Delay Lines is proposed in order to reduce the clock skew and correct the duty cycle. The merged structure allows the forward delay array to be shared between the DLL and the DCC, and yields a 25% saving in the number of the required delay cells. The designed chip was fabricated using a $0.25{\mu}m$ 1-poly, 4-metal CMOS process. Measurement results showed the 3% duty cycle error when the input signal ranges from 80% to 20% and the clock frequency ranges from 400MHz to 600MHz. The locking operation needs 3 clock and duty correction requires only 5 clock cycles as feature with SMD structure.

  • Histogram is very sensitive in lighting because of feature between color space. When it has intensity of moved light, It may be possibility that similarity drop down, So In this paper, introduce new image retrieval method that calls HAC (Histogram Area Calculation). This method divides area of Histogram by a few area and calculate areas. The proposed method is to calculate area of Histogram and compare similarity based on feature that histogram has presently. Performance of our proposed method was verified more excellent than other Conventional method and Merged Color Histogram.

  • DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) is applied to evaluate performance of 14 academic departments at the college of engineering in Yonsei University. Various input and output variables are used to identify operational inefficiency and to suggest some strategic improvement. Additionally, we analyze organizational changes of some existing departments to be merged under several scenarios. Our study results are expected to effectively provide constructive directions for reconfiguration of academic departments.

  • To reconstruct the complete 3-D shape of an object, seveal range images form different viewpoints should be merged into a single model. The process of extraction of the transformation parameters between multiple range views is calle dregistration. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to find the transformation parameters between multiple range views. Th eproposed algorithm consists of two step: initial estimation and iteratively update the transformation. To guess the initial transformation, we modify the principal axes by considering the projection effect, due to the difference fo viewpoints. Then, the following process is iterated: in order to extract the exact transformation parameters between the range views: For every point of the common region, find the nearest point among the neighborhood of the current corresponding point whose correspondency is defined by the reverse calibration of the range finder. Then, update the transformation to satisfy the new correspondencies. In order to evaluate the performance the proposed registration algorithm, some experiments are performed on real range data, acquired by space encoding range finder. The experimental results show that the proposed initial estimation accelerate the following iterative registration step.

  • In this paper, we propose a new connected operator using morphological grayscale reconstruction for region-based coding. First, an effective method of reference-image creation is proposed, which is based on the size as well as the contrast. The conventional connected operators are good for removing small regions, but have a serious drawback for low-contrast regions that are larger than the structuring element. That is, when the conventional connected operators are applied to these regions. the simplification becomes less effective or several meaningful regions are merged to one region. To avoid this, the conventional geodesic dilation is modified to propose an adaptive operator. To reduce the effect of inappropriate propagation, pixels reconstructed to the original values are excluded in the dilation operation. Experimental results have shown that the proposed algorithm achieves better performance in terms of the reconstruction of flat zones. The picture quality has also been improved by about 7dB, compared to the conventional methods.

A New Method for Efficient in-Place Merging

  • There is a well-known simple, stable standard merge algorithm, which uses only linear time but for the price of double space. This extra space consumption has been often remarked as lack of the standard merge sort algorithm that covers a merge process as central operation. In-place merging is a way to overcome this lack and so is a topic with a long tradition of inspection in the area of theoretical computer science. We present an in-place merging algorithm that rear-ranges the elements to be merged by rotation, a special form of block interchanging. Our algorithm is novel, due to its technique of determination of the rotation-areas. Further it has a short and transparent definition. We will give a presentation of our algorithm and prove that it needs in the worst case not more than twice as much comparisons as the standard merge algorithm. Experimental work has shown that our algorithm is efficient and so might be of high practical interest.

Improved Acoustic Modeling Based on Selective Data-driven PMC

  • This paper proposes an effective method to remedy the acoustic modeling problem inherent in the usual log-normal Parallel Model Composition intended for achieving robust speech recognition. In particular, the Gaussian kernels under the prescribed log-normal PMC cannot sufficiently express the corrupted speech distributions. The proposed scheme corrects this deficiency by judiciously selecting the 'fairly' corrupted component and by re-estimating it as a mixture of two distributions using data-driven PMC. As a result, some components become merged while equal number of components split. The determination for splitting or merging is achieved by means of measuring the similarity of the corrupted speech model to those of the clean model and the noise model. The experimental results indicate that the suggested algorithm is effective in representing the corrupted speech distributions and attains consistent improvement over various SNR and noise cases.

  • This study was conducted to use oyster shell as media for biological wastewater treatment. The comparison between the removal efficiencies of the activated sludge and the submerged biofilm process with oyster shell media (5% of reactor volume) for domestic sewage treatment was made. The contaminant removal efficiencies of the submerged process were higher than that of the activated sludge process. And the removal efficiencies of the submerged biofilm process with oyster shell media of 10% and 18% were Investigated at various loading rate. The removal efficiencies of 10% were higher than that of the 18% during the experimental period. The effluent concentration from the sub- merged bloom process using oyster shell media was prediceted by the Stover-Kincannon model.

  • Dynamic chanracterisitcs and control of a submerged working robot manipulator have been investigated for articulated type robot manipulator with three revoluted joints. A dynamic equation of the manipulator has been derived. The dynamic equation includes not only mass matrix, centrifugal and Coriolis terms and gravity terms but also added mass, buoyant force and drag force terms, which are important terms for underwater motion description. A series of simulations using computed torque method have been performed for the cases of straight and circular trajectory motion controls. The results of this study show that the dynamic characteristics of the submerged working robot manipulator are very different from that of the manipulator which works in air. The influences of added mass, buoyant force and drag force terms to the total required torques have been discussed as distribution ratios to the total required torques.
