High performance OTFT using PEDOT:PSS on plastic substrate by inkjet printing

  • This is a report on fabrication and electrical characteristics of pentacene OTFT that uses conducting PEDOT/PSS as source drain electrodes. We demonstrate enhanced conductivity of PEDOT/PSS film with glycerol and optimize properties for ink jet printing. We also present the application of oxygen plasma technique in order to favor selective spreading for subsequent inkjet printing.

Mycelial Growth of Edible Ectomycorrhizal Fungi According to Nitrogen Sources

  • Ectomycorrhizal fungi are associated with plants roots and acquire significant amounts of nitrogen sources from the soil. For artificial cultivation, mass production of ectomycorrhizal fungi in liquid media is required. We studied the edible ectomycorrhizal mushrooms Hygrophorus russula, Ramaria fumigata, Sarcodon aspratus, and Tricholoma matsutake. All strains except S. aspratus NIFoS 2031 grew generally well on modified Melin-Norkran's (MMN) medium compared to on other media. All strains analyzed in this study showed significantly higher growth on organic nitrogen. Specifically, two strains of H. russula significantly responded to both tryptone and neopeptone media. Among different species and strains, there were clear differences in the capacity to grow on animal-based organic nitrogen sources.

  • In recent years, the optical properties of multiple-scattering media like tissue have been studied for their potential applications in medicine. In this work the optical properties of multiple scattering media were investigated using the time-resolved reflectance measurement. The reflected light was measured by time-correlated single photon counting system. The transport scattering and absorption coefficient are related to the initial rapid decay and the subsequent decay in reflected light, respectively. Also the optical properties of the samples were measured by conventional method, ie., using continuous wave light. When the distance between the light source and the detector is over 8mm, the optical coefficient can be measured accurately using the suggested method.

Post Production in a Multi-format Environment

  • The introduction of broadcast digital television (DTV) was, at one time, seen as an opportunity to rationalise video formats. The reality is quite different with a rapid divergence as the united States' ATSC offers 18 formats to cover both standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD), and yet more are supported by Europe's DVB. At the same time multi-media is expanding both as an area for source material and for finished work. Post production needs to move away from single-format facilities as requirements for multi-format operation is already increasing. A 'format-independent' solution is described which allows efficient operation with any mix of input formats and able to output any format with high quality. Attention is given to retaining the speed, accuracy and immediacy which is a feature of today's professional facilities -even while handling the greater demands of HD. Another route, using 24 frames-per-second is also examined.

한국신문의 아시아와 서구에 대한 보도양상의 차이와 이유 연구: 뉴스주제, 보도량, 보도태도, 미디어 정보원을 중심으로 (Differences of news aspect about Asia and West in Korean newspapers and its reason: Focusing on news topic, amount of news, news tone and media sources)

  • 21세기 들어 아시아가 빠르게 발전하고 있다. 한국과 아시아 국가 사이에 인적, 물적 교류도 크게 늘고, 한국이 다문화사회로 접어들면서 아시아에 대한 우리 국민들의 올바른 이해가 더욱 중요해졌다. 이를 위해서는 한국신문의 아시아에 대한 보도양상이 중요하다는 문제의식에서 조선일보, 동아일보, 한겨레신문, 경향신문 등 4개 신문이 2011년에 보도한 1786개의 국제뉴스 내용을 분석해서 아시아와 서구에 대한 보도양상의 차이와 이유를 알아봤다. 보도량에서는 아시아(45.7%)보다 서구(54.3%)뉴스가 많았다. 아시아 뉴스에서는 부정적인 뉴스가 가장 많았으나, 서구 뉴스에서는 부정적인 뉴스가 가장 적고 중립적 또는 긍정적인 뉴스가 가장 많아 한국신문은 아시아보다 서구에 대해 긍정적인 보도태도를 보였다. 국제뉴스를 도덕 정의, 정치, 경제 과학, 사회, 외교 국방, 인간적 흥미, 인물 등 7개의 주제로 분류했다. 주제별 보도량을 보면 아시아에 대해서는 외교 국방, 도덕 정의, 정치 등 경성기사를 많이 보도했다. 서구에 대해서는 경성기사 이외에 인간적 흥미, 인물 등 연성기사도 많이 보도해 아시아보다는 다양한 뉴스를 전달했다. 경성기사에서는 부정적인 태도가 가장 많았고, 연성기사에서는 긍정 또는 중립적인 태도가 가장 많았다. 그 결과 한국신문의 국제뉴스는 아시아에 대해 부정적이고, 서구에 대해 긍정적인 보도태도를 나타내게 됐다. 미디어, 정부, 민간조직, 개인, 자료 등 5개의 핵심 정보원 가운데 미디어만이 서구와 아시아에 대한 보도태도의 차이에 영향을 주고 있었다. 아시아 미디어 정보원은 서구 미디어보다 아시아에 대해 긍정적인 보도를 많이 했다. 서구 미디어 정보원은 아시아에 대해서는 부정적, 서구에 대해서는 중립적인 보도를 많이 했다. 그런데 한국신문은 동아시아를 제외한 지역의 뉴스에서는 전적으로 서구미디어를 핵심 정보원으로 활용했다. 이에 따라 한국신문의 국제뉴스는 서구중심적이 되고, 아시아에 더 부정적인 보도를 많이 하게 되었다. 한국신문의 서구와 아시아에 대한 보도양상은 많이 보도한 주제와 외국 미디어 정보원 의존 형태에 따라 달라졌다. 한국신문은 특파원 등을 활용한 직접 취재, 인터넷을 이용한 아시아 매체활용 확대 등으로 아시아에 대해 다양한 뉴스를 전달해야 한다는 개선방안을 제시했다.

순수배양 시 외생균근균의 질소원 요구성과 선호도 (Nitrogen Source-requirement and Preference of Ectomycorrhizal Fungi in Pure Culture)

  • 국내 산림에서 수집한 외생균근균(13속 42균주)을 질소원이 서로 다른 4종류의 시험배지에 접종하고 56일간 순수 배양하여 질소원 요구성과 선호도를 조사하였다. 그 결과, 일본연지그물버섯(KFRI 1224), 비단그물버섯(KFRI 1232), 끈적쓴맛그물버섯(KFRI 1383), 젖비단그물버섯(KFRI 1997), 알버섯류(KFRI 1434) 등이 질소원 요구성이 높은 것으로 조사되었다. 검은머리그물버섯(KFRI 1362)을 비롯하여 총 시험균주의 45%는 질산염보다 암모늄 형태의 무기질소원을 더 선호하였다. 반면 큰비단그물버섯(KFRI 1125)을 비롯한 총 시험균주의 36%는 질산염 형태의 무기질소원을 더 선호하였다.

Phosphate and Carbon Source Regulation of Alkaline Phosphatase and Phospholipase in Vibrio vulnificus

  • In this study, the effects of phosphate concentration and carbon source on the patterns of alkaline phosphatase (APase) and phospholipase (PLase) expression in Vibrio vulnificus ATCC 29307 were assessed under various conditions. The activities of these enzymes were repressed by excess phosphate (4 mM) in the culture medium, but this repression was reversed upon the onset of phosphate starvation in low phosphate defined medium (LPDM) containing 0.2 mM of phosphate at approximately the end of the exponential growth phase. The expressions of the two enzymes were also influenced by different carbon sources, including glucose, fructose, maltose, glycerol, and sodium acetate at different levels. The APase activity was derepressed most profoundly in LPDM containing fructose as a sole carbon source. However, the repression/derepression of the enzyme by phosphate was not observed in media containing glycerol or sodium acetate. In LPDM-glycerol or sodium acetate, the growth rate was quite low. The highest levels of PLase activity were detected in LPDM-sodium acetate, followed by LPDM-fructose. PLase was not fully repressed by high phosphate concentrations when sodium acetate was utilized as the sole carbon source. These results showed that multiple regulatory systems, including the phosphate regulon, may perform a function in the expression of both or either APase and PLC, in the broader context of the survival of V. vulnificus.

Elementary Students' Perceptions of Earth Systems and Environmental Issues

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the elementary students' perceptions of Earth systems and environmental issues. A survey was conducted to determine the students' perceptions on the following aveas: (1) the concepts of certainty and tangibility, (2) self-reported knowledge level, (3) perceived danger level of selected eight Earth systems and environmental issues, and (4) their primary information source on these issues. Results indicated that ozone hole, acid rain, El $Ni\widetilde{n}o$, and global warming were identified by the students as uncertain and intangible issues. Perceived certainty and perceived tangibility were highly positively correlated with self-reported knowledge compared to other relationships. The results also showed that learning from school was the most frequent information source for environmental issues. The second most frequently used source of information was television among several mass media sources. It is hoped that this study contributes to understanding the elementary school students' perceptions toward the selected Earth systems and environmental issues.

빅데이터 분석을 위한 비용효과적 오픈 소스 시스템 설계 (Designing Cost Effective Open Source System for Bigdata Analysis)

  • Many advanced products and services are emerging in the market thanks to data-based technologies such as Internet (IoT), Big Data, and AI. The construction of a system for data processing under the IoT network environment is not simple in configuration, and has a lot of restrictions due to a high cost for constructing a high performance server environment. Therefore, in this paper, we will design a development environment for large data analysis computing platform using open source with low cost and practicality. Therefore, this study intends to implement a big data processing system using Raspberry Pi, an ultra-small PC environment, and open source API. This big data processing system includes building a portable server system, building a web server for web mining, developing Python IDE classes for crawling, and developing R Libraries for NLP and visualization. Through this research, we will develop a web environment that can control real-time data collection and analysis of web media in a mobile environment and present it as a curriculum for non-IT specialists.

Enhanced Production of L-Aspartate ${\beta}-Decarboxylase$ by Nitrogen Source in Pseudomonas dacunhae

  • Improvement of L-asparate ${\beta}-decarboxylase$ production from Pseudomonas dacunhae ATCC 21192 was attempted by optimizing fermentation conditions. Optimum carbon and nitrogen sources for cell growth and enzyme production were determined. L-Glutamate (2%) was the most suitable carbon source, and D-glucose, D-glycerol and fumarate repressed enzyme production. Yeast extract (2%) was the most effective as nitrogen source. A slight change of pH to 6.5 from medium pH resulted in a meaningful increase in the production of enzyme. The production of the enzyme was highly improved by using 2% yeast extract and 2% L-glutamate in culture media. Maximum L-asparate ${\beta}-decarboxylase$ activity reached up to over 24 U/mL-broth by 15 h flask fermentation.
