  • The recent crises of Marxism do not mean Marx’s crisis. Marx said that he was not a Marxist. The purposes of this essay explore (1) the modern identity of the political economy; (2) the possibilities of mutual understanding between neoclassical economics and Marxist economics; (3) problems of the political economy in media and communication industry. I have begged for analytical Marxists, because of their good fruits. They accepted the methods of modern social science and they constituted a tremendous advance in the application of the scientific methods to the study of society. In insisting on micro-foundations(methodological individualism), analytical Marxism distinguished itself from structuralism and functionalism. I appreciate that analytical Marxism has reduced a theory to practice. But the works didn’t listen to everyone(from Marxists to un-Marxists), and explain everything. Making theory with production/consumption, macro/micro, and structure/behavior is a road to the political economy in the long run. It also applies to media and communication industry. The realm of media/communication is broad, which in philosophy, humanities, politics, economics, sociology, and engineering. And media policy is more complicated by politicians who look at the same situation from different angles. By the aid of interdisciplinary research, the political economy of media/communication shall explain at full length.

  • Measuring the intangible asset has been vigorously studied for its importance. Especially, the value of character in media industry is difficult to quantitatively evaluate in spite of the industry's rapid growth. Recently, the Social Network Analysis (i.e., SNA) has been actively applied to understand human usage patterns in a media field. By using SNA methodology, this study attempts to investigate how the character network characteristics of media works are linked to human search behaviors. Our analysis reveals the positive correlation and causality between character network centralities and character search data. This result implies that the character network can be used as a clue for the valuation of character assets.

  • The food tech market, which uses artificial intelligence robots for the restaurant industry, is gradually expanding. Among them, the robot barista, a representative food tech case for the restaurant industry, is characterized by increasing the efficiency of operators and providing things for visitors to see and enjoy through a 24-hour unmanned operation. This research was conducted through text mining analysis to examine trends related to robot baristas in the restaurant industry. The research results are as follows. First, keywords such as coffee, cafe, certification, ordering, taste, interest, people, robot cafe, coffee barista expert, free, course, unmanned, and wine sommelier were highly frequent. Second, time, variety, possibility, people, process, operation, service, and thought showed high closeness centrality. Third, as a result of CONCOR analysis, a total of 5 keyword clusters with high relevance to the restaurant industry were formed. In order to activate robot barista in the future, it is necessary to pay more attention to functional development that can strengthen its functions and features, as well as online promotion through various events and SNS in the robot barista cafe.

The Effects of Message Framing on Social Media Credibility and Behavioral Intentions (메시지 프레이밍이 소셜미디어 신뢰도 및 행동의도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of message framing of social media contents on social media credibility and behavioral intention and the role of customers' gourmet restaurant involvement. In this study message framing is divided into regulatory focus and message sidedness and used experimental stimulus composed of $2{\times}2$ factorial design. Also investigated the effect into the social media credibility and behavioral intention. A total of 560 valid samples were analyzed. According to the results, it was confirmed that stimuli 'two-sided / prevention' and 'one-side / promotion' framing were the most influential framing on social media credibility and behavioral intention and the social media credibility has significant effect on the behavioral intention. In this study the effect of message framing which was not widely used in the hospitality industry research was confirmed. Also the usefulness of regulatory focus and message sidedness were identified in the various research in hospitality management.

  • Society advances through technology, and technology has changed many lifestyles. The need for food is varying, but the availability of food is constantly changing as trends in production change. Combining the food industry and technology, a robot that delivers food and also cooks it has been developed. The time has come for a combination of food content and technology to advance the restaurant industry. This study discusses the application of a recommended food content media providing system using a curation engine that recommends contents according to individual tastes and preferences for the convenience of those who use food contents, using artificial intelligence speakers. We discuss the technologies required to develop video contents optimized for AI speakers with screens and shapes, combined with inset top boxes.

  • In this practice article, we present the results of a scenario planning approach that is a hybrid of the three main schools of thought. Our research objective was to study the future of Interactive Digital Media applications such as online music, on-demand television and massively multi-player online role-playing games. Our approach, while essentially qualitative in nature, nevertheless draws from the rigors of the quantitative school in identifying and then tracking the significant dimensions of analysis that emerge over time as strands of events leading to plausible scenarios. Our empirical analysis revealed mapping strands to three themes - ownership, distribution and innovation - which we used in an expert validation exercise to formulate scenarios. We present and discuss the major findings and implications of this empirical investigation. In a nutshell, we conjecture that an open, competitive IDM marketplace with performance safeguards may serve both and lead to a win-win scenario. While there are differences among IDM sectors, a unified approach to regulation and policy would be effective.

  • Big data has recently been used in various industries such as tourism, medical care, distribution, and marketing. And it is evolving to the stage of collecting real-time information or analyzing correlations and predicting the future. In the tourism industry, big data can be used to identify the size and shape of the tourism market, and by building and utilizing a large-capacity database, it is possible to establish an efficient marketing strategy and provide customized tourism services for tourists. This paper has begun with anticipation of the effects that would occur when big data is actively used in the tourism field. Because the method of use must have applicability and practicality, the spatial scope will be limited to Seosan, Chungcheongnam-do, and research will be conducted. In this paper, to improve the quality of tourism courses by collecting and analyzing the number of mention data and sentiment index data on social media, which reflect the tourist's interest, preference and satisfaction. Therefore, it is used as basic data necessary for the development of new local tourism courses in the future. In addition, the development of tourism courses will be able to promote tourism growth and also revitalizing the local economy.

  • In these day, our life has been developed with the computer. Printing Industry was introduced the information industry as computer, internet, etc. These are now in daily use and covers the entire work flow - from the planing of the product and the production at domestic printing industry. Then, I suggest the correspondence of changing printing work flow, understanding of digital printing technique, rearing of a special line of business, adjustment in the environment changing of printing technique etc. for the purpose of development of domestic printing industry.

  • Similar to the other cultural contents, the character industry is based on the media which acts as the technological background. In fact, the character industry is the process of that a created character accesses to the consumers via media, builds its value and becomes licensed as a brand in the market. Therefore, it is crucial to select the most effective media for the consistence of a character in the market, as well as for construction of a higher brand quality of the character. Today, "Webtoon" might be considered as one of the marketing means which utilizes the Internet media for raising the character as a brand. Webtoon has apparent strength because it can be produced in shorter period and with less expense than through other media. Furthermore, Webtoon can be simply featured by the easiness of two-way communication and transference to another media through it. For these reasons, and according to the result of analyzing some Korean Webtoons, it seems obvious that the most effective media in character marketing is the Internet. In addition to the Internet, the strategic development in the media-mix is also important for establishing a brand of a character. However, the effective media-mix is available only when the character's external identity meets with the trait of its media. For the purpose of learning how the media-mix works when a character reaches for the consumers, a character "Hamataeng" was born and used in the experiment. This study will explain the marketing process through the use of own-created Webtoon and other contents, and suggest the ways to build a brand of a character. In addition, it is also indicated that a media-mixing strategy for transformation and expansion of the character to other media.
